- This story begins as a young woman, Jane, leaves her troubled life and yet again incarcerated boyfriend to seek out a different path. She moves to a new place and quickly makes a few new friends. Claire hires Jane to help her run her quaint little coffee shop. From the moment they meet there is a special connection between the two women that pulls them together. They are able to open up and reveal deep secrets about their life and struggles. They never feel like they have to hold back for fear of being judged, it's very exhilarating for them. Neither has ever had someone they could talk to about everything and go to for consoling and comfort. Both woman have had a hard time with love and relationships their entire life but soon they learn to trust and depend on each other. They both want to find love and be happy but neither knows how to make it happen. In each other they find hope for happiness and love even if it is just having a true best friend to depend on when everything else comes crashing down. The strength they find in each other becomes indispensable when dealing with their relationships with the men in their life. Claire is unhappily married and constantly embarrassed and ashamed by her husbands immature antics. He is a drunk and very abusive, he takes advantage of her insecurities and need to be loved. Jane urges her to leave him but Claire refuses to give up on him yet. She is convinced she may never find better and says she is happy to at least know their relationship is a fake. Jane has problems when she becomes torn between two men. She yearns to believe in love and find a man that will give her his heart, but she feels no one will be able to understand her fully. Tom falls for Jane's innocent sweetness and pursues her to all ends, making Jane feel admired, beautiful and wanted. He is super sweet and caring, he is the kind of man that would give into her every whim and overlook all her faults. He says all the rights things and tries very hard to impress her, maybe too hard. But David is the man she really wants, he is a bit rougher around the edges and harder for her to understand but he has a depth that draws her. He has a dark past of drug addiction and loathing but he seems to be on a better path in his life now. He is attracted to Jane but has a hard time figuring her out. He doesn't flatter her or pursue her like other men, he is different but she doesn't understand why. Tom would be the easy choice the logical match but no matter how hard they fight it there is something real between David and Jane. She is in a situation where the man that wants her is not really what she's looking for and the man she wants seems unattainable. Claire tires of her dissolving marriage, she knows it is ending but doesn't want to face it. Claire has been through a lot in her life and it seems everyone she loves disappoints her and she hopes Jane will finally change that. Claire seems to try to just find happiness in her friendship with Jane. But what she doesn't realize, what most people don't realize is that Jane has her own issues. She keeps up a facade of normalcy so well that people don't understand why she is so distant and it actually draws them in deeper to her. No matter how much her life changes she is tormented by the nightmares of her past. As hard as she tries to fight it, something died in her a long time ago and it has left her quite apathetic toward others. She never really takes into account the impact she has on those around her which makes forging true relationships very difficult. Everyone involved is falling in love or out of love and finding pain or salvation in the outcome. Love Fever is a film about love, in every form, the good, bad and ugly truth about what really happens when you allow yourself fall in love with the right or wrong person.
