Moralistic

Warning: Spoilers
Episode four is quite the moralistic one that throws our protagonist Elliott into some very dark situations; it's quite gripping as a result. The rest is as layered and involved as you like, with less action this time around, but that tracking shot at the climax is a great piece of direction.

Just wow... Incredible detail

The pace, the camera work, the perfect music sync, and foremost the attention to detail is astonishing... When Sean men were being gunned down, you could hear the sound of the sniper gun going off and a few milliseconds later is when the shot would hit the targets, amazing. And in the final minutes of the episode when the woman is in the corridor gaining courage to shoot Sean you could see that another car arrived because of the lights glaring through the window, she didn't see it so wasn't aware that more people had arrived and because of that never looked to the right. Man, these little and incredible details make this even better. Congrats to everybody involved in this masterpiece. By far the best episode so far.

Impressive

Warning: Spoilers
Sean throws a dinner in an attempt to unite the families while Dumani's suspicion on Elliot increases and continues to test his loyalty.

The action set pieces in this show continues to impress, the sniper-attacking sequences toward the end is fantastic, and gory, and entertaining tho a bit unrealistic, and convenient, 'cause there's plenty of time for the sniper to take out Sean but he never did, he only seems to target his bodyguards. And I don't believe a bullet that is powerful and big enough to literally burst someone's head off, is only going to penetrate Elliot with a small wound like that

The cinematography is very good, camera-work is outstanding, my favorite shot in this episode is towards the ends where after Alex takes out the housemaid, the camera pans to every individual in the room and shows their emotions, and then pans to a shattered mirror with a bullet hole in it, which reflects the family's current situation and then Sean says "we will fix this". it's absolutely brilliant. The score complements the scenes well too, and the performances are fine all around.

All Hands On Deck

"Gangs of London" makes good use of a streamlined story to deliver a shocking, superbly directed episode. It's times like this when the pieces all come together into one cohesive whole that propel the story forward. Better yet, there is are some serious strides here to make characters count.

Elliot (Sope Dirisu) is one such character. Fighting skills and calm demeanour aside, he's failed to fit in as a whole so far. He's doing the bidding of too many people who want vastly different things, but the way he is led around and what he ultimately does once this episode ends cements him as a more prominently positioned player. Furthermore, the Wallace family get's a chance to lean into their past a little more and mourn the loss of their head a little more, to great effect.

Whether or not the outcome of this episode will lead to further ramifications between the underworld mobs is yet to be seen, but the setup is masterful. A skilful combination of tension, camerawork and character-work. Combining both urgency and action, episode four has an outstanding sequence. It's chaotic, it's loud, it's extremely gory. Whatever stagnancy this chapter had beforehand was immediately washed away by the final act (which tends to the case with the past episodes actually).

So, with a less sporadic story and one killer third act, but with all its trademark ambition intact, "Gangs of London" finds a new high-point that looks to lead the season into exciting territories.

How is this show not more acclaimed!??! It's absolutely phenomenal! The acting is top tier, the cinematography is out of this world and this the overall delivery of this series is yet to be seen in any series as of recent.

Quite ridiculous

Warning: Spoilers
This episode just sums this series up to be frank. Especially the shoot out near the end. The sniper blows half the face of a couple of Sean's bodyguards yet when Elliot is shot it the bullet only manages to go in a couple of inches! The sniper was sent to kill Sean yet couldn't even manage that when Sean was lying on the ground prone for about 20 seconds. This series is built up on frantic & gory action scenes but sadly 90% of them are ridiculously over the top and unbelievable

Warning: Spoilers
To my shock, this episode was actually very good. A hell of a lot happened in terms of plot. There's still a fair amount of cliché, plot convenience and unbelievable writing but a lot made up for it. I'll get the bad out of the way first. The sniping scene was just beyond ridiculous for reasons I don't even need to mention. The dialogue is also still shaky at times but that's got pretty infrequent now. Also the scene with the mysterious man 'Leif' keeping Floriana imprisoned drinking milk was pulled straight from a "how to make a villain look creepy" webpage. Apart from that, I don't really think there was much else wrong. It's a shame that the sniper scene was overwhelmingly stupid because I think it brought the episode down a peg or two. The story is unfolding very nicely and we finally got a lot of real character moments which is what I've been waiting for. We got deeper insights into Elliot, Sean, Alex's potential for power, and pretty much the whole Wallace family. Elliot especially revealed more about his past and got put in some precarious positions. The final scene in the house featured some really unique, inventive camerawork, and while I'm not the biggest fan of the show's overall style, it was so well done. Marian taking Danny into the other room just to see Billy shooting heroin was quite chilling and really put the whole crime world and family into perspective. The music was also very good. I'm hoping that the series continues to do this type of episode, and I really hope they can eliminate the unbelievable writing. That would put this show on the next level I think.
