Warning: Spoilers
Episode seven is something of a talky one, as it's all about an explanation and the solving of the mystery that's been going since the very first episode. It's rather convoluted but it holds together well and it promises more bloodshed to begin. What I like about this show is that it doesn't sit still, always offering up new developments which is what it needs to do. I'm also noticing a lot of similarities to GAME OF THRONES now with the whole Jon Arryn murder plot.

The Truth Of It All

For how big a of deal "Gangs of London" has made the Wallace murder out to be, it certainly did little with its murderer. Turns out, maybe that choice was for the better as the real benefactors behind that act are far more compelling than just some guy. The reveal doesn't come without its flaws, notably an unfortunate lack of focus, but it's substantial all the same. Concurrently running with that development are several other big ones that pay off to great effect.

I'm still a little puzzled by how the action set pieces are spaced out. Knowing how Evans prefers to show the profound acts of violence in fight scenes and last time, a torture sequence, I would have assumed that the two set pieces we got in episode seven will be an escalation. They aren't filmed particularly well nor do they highlight the severity of the acts in the moment, only in their aftermath. The first one in particular is difficult to keep up with as the camera's focus keeps shifting, the geography is incomprehensible and the opposing sides aren't clearly lined up. Whether this was story purposes, time or the director's choice is anyone's guess.

On the other hand, the plot and all its other branches get their due. There are plenty of satisfying payoffs. The Albanian sub-plot is finally heating up thanks to some brilliant scenes and the Turkish front is also accelerating to new heights. However, it is beyond debate that the Dumanis and the Wallaces had it the most crushing this time around. It's a reveal with plenty of layers and the good news is, it's a very flexible revelation. Arguably, it took "Gangs of London" a little too long with too many dead ends to get here, but with only two episodes left, the players are in the right place for what looks like a big bang.

Warning: Spoilers
A good episode, but it could've been so much better were it not for a bad start. The first shootout at the warehouse was beyond incomprehensible. The drone footage showed that the warehouse was right beside a massive residential area, and the soldiers that executed the assault didn't even use suppressors. Yet no one seemed to hear it because no police were in sight whatsoever. Wallace managed to hear about it though. And then of course, by some miracle, Lale survives. You'd think that a team of what looked like highly trained assassins would make sure that the one person that needed to be dead the most, would actually be dead? Apparently not. Plot convenience was certainly through the roof here, and frankly it is just lazy writing. The contrived massacre at the investment firm was similarly ridiculous, and this along with some other action scenes in this show, seem to be done more in service of spectacle than logical writing. Nonetheless, it did show us how ruthless and dangerous Mosi and his gang are. The rest of the episode was very good, displaying more of the tension this show does very well. We also got a lot of answers which were delivered nicely. It looks like whoever wanted to divide the crime world has done so completely now that the Wallaces and Dumanis are split. However, this conspiracy still goes deeper, perhaps even at the police level, and the pieces seem to be in order for what should be two excellent last episodes. Granted, of course, that they stop with the silly, lazy writing. It's episodes like this that remind me that unfortunately, while the show's ideas are amazing, it can often be lacking in execution
