Three years after the original Richard Dawson-hosted "Family Feud" ended on ABC, it was revived on CBS with new host Ray Combs on the 4th of July. The families were the Drozdowskis and the Holtrusts. After returning announcer Gene Wood intros Combs, Ray acknowledges America's birthday and mentions how he's watched a lot of classic CBS shows in preparation for his new job. So he asks for the "first item up for bids" before saying "wrong show". The first question is "Name a macho movie star" of which Stallone is No. 1 (The others are Arnold, well you know, Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck, and Burt Reynolds). Eventually, the Holtrusts compete in the Fast Money round which they win on the last answer of the second contestant. While I prefer Dawson, Combs has a slightly different appeal that's good enough. While the show is basically the same as before, I did notice a couple of differences: No longer are the competing families given a "Pass" or "Play" option since the member of the family at the board giving the highest ranked answer automatically plays and when the answers on the Fast Money board are uncovered, you now hear some strange clicking music noise that's a bit irritating to me. Other than that, this was a good start for the 6-year Ray Combs run of "Family Feud". If only some other changes hadn't been made a few years down the line...
