Great start

Warning: Spoilers
With the cliff hanger from las season I wasn't sure how they were going to start with this one but it was great from the first moment, we pick with the unit being protected by the dodgers and without giving too much away, it doesn't work out, the Camarilla is also close and they still need to learn how to hide better. We also got see a bit of our great and favorite general. Great way to kick out the new season in my opinion, next episode looks promising too.

Union of Earth and Sky

Warning: Spoilers
And then there were four. Abigail, Raelle and Tally are fugitives, with Scylla in tow, which in itself is exciting because them being on the run means we'll see new interesting places and people. Kandyse McClure is a welcomed addition. I loved her in Hemlock Grove. Motherland Fort Salem Season 3 is back like it never left. The pace, tone, acting and direction were part tense, part intriguing and always forward-moving. I love where all the storylines are going. President Wade is missing, so the Vice President is in charge and collaborating with anti-witches, human domestic terrorists Camarilla to kill the power source for witches on the military base. Their bio-weapon continues to infect the military base. In Season One, The Spree, a domestic terrorists organization of witches executed attacks on human civilians and the military-witches defended civilians against those attacks and tried to defeat The Spree. Shouldn't the military-witches and the Camarilla be on the same side to kill The Spree? I get the power struggle for the Tarim's powerful gift, but shouldn't the common goal have been to destroy The Spree? The Spree's Revolution just suddenly ended? What is the Camarilla's true end game? Adil and Abigail seem to be a powerful union the Carmilla are interested in, but what kind of union? A future hybrid baby who will bring forth simultaneous Earthwork and Weatherwork? What would that union mean in the grand scheme of things? Nicte trains Tally for the biggest war to come, which awakens some unknown fiery visions in Tally. Raelle and Scylla are all cute and loved up. Sorry to break up the lovefest, but I thought Raelle was the most powerful witch in military school with untapped supernatural powers to be discovered. Raelle is my favorite witch out of the trio. Let's focus more on her powers and less on her love life. Anacostia's running intel and surveillance through mirrors and reflective objects to get insight into the Camarilla's plans was well done. Abigail reconnecting with her Mother through those same means was sweet, sad yet revealing. What a well-written episode! And the writers saved the best for last, to me anyway - General Alder! Some reincarnation of Alder blooms (sprouts?) onto a farm in Basque County. Who or what or when is she?! General Alder has always been my favorite and Lyne Renee plays her with such command, complexity and intensity. She's a realist and realist are often hated or anti-heroes because they do the "wrong" things for the right reasons or ruthless, usually violent, acts for the greater good. General Alder was militarily and patriotically dedicated to protecting the nation even killing her own - witches, that being terrorist witches like The Spree, while being committed to preserving, advancing and furthering the witch race even if that means mesmerizing President Wade to further the military's authority. I love gray characters like General Alder! Season 1 was good and Season 2 was a mixed bag. Season 3 feels like political intrigue, supernatural mysteries and otherworldly adventures and discoveries are coming! Looking forward to Episode 2!!

Impressive
therealrejectx24 June 2022
Given all the set backs Motherland: Fort Salem has had over the past two years including having to film through covid and a cancellation, it is incredibly impressive they continue to endure and present amazing content.

It is a great disservice that it is being cancelled, they have clearly been forced to speed up story arcs prematurely. This episode had storylines that could easily have been stretched out for 2-3 episodes. Amanda Tapping has done an amazing job, she must have had to find work arounds to give us the big picture in under a short amount of time. Can't wait for the rest of the season, I'm sure it will be the best one yet!

Phenomenal

The first episode of the third season was fantastic. The production did an excellent job of following up on the end of Season 2. It's a shame that Freeform is letting go of this gem. I hope another program picks it up since it would be a shame not to develop this franchise because it is so beautiful. It's a fresh perspective on what a Witch is in this parallel universe. I honestly can't wait for the rest of the episodes to come out. I can't express how grateful I am to the show's creator, writers, and actors. Simply fantastic.

A solid season premiere

It's hard to write a favorable season premiere especially in later seasons. While this was mostly a set up episode, it is impressively packed with potential to where this season is heading.
