Season Two Review
southdavid14 November 2022
I found season one of "Gangs of London" to be good, but a little below truly top class television. I think, at the conclusion of the second season, I feel largely the same, but if more was to come, then I'd continue to watch it.

With Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) dead, power in London sits firmly in the hands of "The Investors". Though Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) and Asif Afridi (Asif Raza Mir) are in apparent control, with Elliot (Sope Dirisu) acting as an enforcer - the Investors still send the psychotic Koba (Waleed Zuaiter) to act in their interests. Elliot though has lost himself in the violence he's been forced to undertake and is looking for a way to get himself, and his father, out.

Whilst never quite having an episode to match the Gareth Evans directed fifth episode, of the first season, "Gangs of London" remains perhaps the most expensively violent show made in this country. The scenes with the helicopter gunship alone must have cost more than the entire budget of most series. I'd also say, though the choreographed fight scenes remain impressive, there's nothing to match the "Raid" style back and forths in that first season either.

Storyline-wise it's a little clearer though. There are fewer individual gangs, which helps, but again alliances are formed and broken, and people are crossed and double crossed. It is a little harder to root for any of the characters this time, as the main thrust of the story this time is Elliot's decision about whether or not leave the game, and he's no longer the undercover cop trying his best. I would also say, apart from a few alliances shifting, there isn't much different at the end of season two, than there was at the end of the first season, so in that regard, it's a little inconsequential.

Its certainly well made and I'll watch a third season if one is forthcoming, but I still don't think it's quite at the top tier of TV.

What were they thinking?
Cinefil_Original25 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Fairly enjoyable show, had it's ups and downs, goods and bads, stupid and a bit less stupid twists.

Among many script flaws I couldn't get past the van with the 1.5 tones of heroin. How did the black lady manage to carry 1.5 tones of heroin from the van to the motel room without being seen? How could they ever think of having a gun fight in the heroin motel room? Will the police not come and investigate 50 caliber machine gun fight? I just can't :) the stupidity is overwhelming. Should I bother mentioning the super soldier Elliot? I understand he's a trained guy, but every guy he's fighting is ex-military, just like him and yet, 7 ex-military guys can't come close to handling 1 Elliot. They should send that dude to Ukraine, I bet he can stop tanks as well.

To top it all off, that ending... just ughh. I hope this gets a 3rd season because this would be an embarrassing show finale. 6/10 because it was a decent waste of time.

Convoluted, Super Elliot, Not 1 Likeable Character
sumtim3s00n23 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After 1st season that was at least somewhat promising, this whole second one was a disaster.

The story meanders uninterestingly throughout the season with our characters continusly fighting and betraying, not by any seemingly authentic or well written reason but by some forced plot points that the writers thought might add drama. There is talk about "investors" but we never meet them and they might as well not exist.

Not one single character in the show is the tinniest but likeable, Koba has some quality villain charm but it is all mellowed in the mediocrity of it all.

The anti-hero Elliot, the supersoldier, is one of the worst. Easily time and time, and then time again beating groups of professional ex-soldier mercenaries, shooting bullseyes anytime and just being super. While also being super annoying and unlikeable.

The story basically is founded on one betrayal after another, there is no tact or logic, everone just betrays everyone and then there the convenient rationalization that is as flimsy as it gets. Its like everyone is first time in this business.

Horrible, boring, convoluted mess of a season, not one characters shows any common sense or seeks to avoid police attention, everyone keeps attacking one another in the public in middle of London. This is one of the worst writen shows/seasons in existance and deserves to be canceled on the spot.

Great Season
edendv-2195228 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the season was exciting, diving deeper into character development, shocks and betrayal everywhere, but it was a strange ending for some characters, Koba deserved a worse death tbh, poison was too easy, Asif and Lale teaming up was uncharacteristic. Elliot, (who is hands down, my favourite character) had some amazing fight sequences this season (john wick with more gore), even if his opponents were shockingly weak for bodyguards, mercenaries and drug lords, regardless, whoever choreographed the fights this season deserves a raise.

Love the ending, Elliot taking a seat at the table💪🏾 After everything they've done to him it's only fair he takes back.

Can't wait for Season 3!

Addressing The Issue With Elliott Vs. Sean
ttlero17 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Elliot was a very likeable character in season one, but I don't understand him anymore, I know that his arc in season 2 was meant to cement an underdog story that sees him at the helm in the end, but remember he chose to kill Sean in season 1 instead of standing by him.

Sean losing Lale was good for his character development but then contradicting that sacrifice by throwing a cheap plot twist and reveal she's alive and allied with Asif is just dumb. Sean is smart, calculating and menacing, he's constantly proven himself only to be sidelined and left at the bottom, just like how season 1 ended.

They saved the worst till last!
sanjk7531 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Completely ridiculous episode! Asif partners up with Lale! Absurd! After she kills his son and he and his men spent an whole episode trying to kill her! Elliott lets Sean live and then takes his place and then wants him to watch while he takes over the city, absolutely ridiculous! Ed and his daughter shoot a million rounds in the motel and yet not one person comes out to see whats going on! Lol And no police arrive, when do they ever arrive in this series except right at the end?! Ed just casually makes a phone call to Luan afterwards! Lol Koba dies having a burger with some poison in it, what a way to go! You couldn't make this episode more ridiculous if you tried!

What did they do?
rstenstrom15 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What were they thinking this second season was dreadful, it started off great but then after the midway point it takes a nosedive into the bottom of a trash bin. It started off so good with the Investers being powerful and I actually felt like thy were a organisation which would be hard to get rid. The return of Sean Wallace was brilliant, even though I would have saved that reveal until the back half of the series. From there it was Sean vs the Investers, but after episode 5 it became Sean vs Elliot and the investers vanished. After the midway point some very daft and stupid betrayals happened which just didnt feel right. Sean betraying Lale for a business deal with Asif and the worst of all Marian betraying her own sons so she can become on top of London's gangs. Sean teaming up with Koba was a good twist but Koba just became a side goon after that.

Now to the actual review of the season finale, it was DREAD. It was a hard watch. First of all Koba dying from a poisoned burger was just dreadful. Then you have the Sean vs Elliot fight which Elliot won again, it would have been better for Sean to come out on top as Elliot almost killed him at the end of the last season. Then Elliot doesnt kill Sean but Sean ends up in Jail. Thats not even the worst part Elliot becomes the king of London's gangs and Asif teams up with Lale, the person who killed his SON. Some of the twists just do not make sense and are just poorly explained.

One more thing, Luan was one of the main focuses of the first half which was brilliant, he's a great character, but after the midway point he's pushed into the back of the queue of all the other characters who want to have shining moments.

I do not know who to route for anymore in this tv series and I do not know how its gonna go from here, just give us more action and well-written plot teists that just make sense.

Awful ending
peterrising29 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Sean should have won this time. Having the totally unbelievable Elliott get the better of him again was extremely disappointing.

Also, all the back and forth changing allegiances was so irritating. Everyone was on everyone's side at some point of the season and I don't buy that Marian would have turned on her boys the way she did.

Feels like this is being made up as it goes. No cohesion or story arc. This could have been as good as Peaky Blinders if it was done properly and they had made Sean as strong a character as Tommy Shelby but the writers seem to want to make him look weak and always one step behind.

Frustrating!!

Big mistake not to kill Elliot
Rich-9174931 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
He's had his arc and served his purpose. All he's doing now is standing in the way of more interesting characters.

The show is setup for a pretty boring season 3 with Elliot now being a full-on gang member and Marian being in charge of the Wallace family.

An alliance between Lele and Asif? Come on! They have brutally murdered each others families and yet we're supposed to believe they're going to work together just because they've both lost some power in the shuffle?

It seems the show runners are just running out of ideas but have a need to keep it going so they're just writing the first thing they can think of that might seem dramatic.

Eliot the unstoppable , unrealistic
dali-6150826 August 2023
I don't know why did Sean gone with no plan he was going braindead ,I know he was thinking of his brother but your life ?

When u see Eliot fight you should close your eyes and know for sure he got it.

Always Eliot needs to win , Lale and Asif was wired but I get it cause he was exiled and he want allies ,every one betray an other.

I wander in the next season what Sean will do it's hard for him he has a lot of enemies i mean the first one is Lale it will seek for revenge the whole table that we saw in the last seconds and Koba boys .I am not looking forward to see season 3 i mean i don't want to see Sean defeated by Eliot again.
