Well...that was satisfying

Warning: Spoilers
I won't spoil things but I will say as good as Bryan Cranston performance was, so was everyone else.

Except maybe, Baxter son. But the tension was thick and Bryan Canston in mourning and looking and walking old was good. As for his son, I didn't even notice he was gone.

Love the new character of Big Mo. What a lady. And Rosie Perez. In fact, looks like the ladies on this show are no joke.

This episodes was exciting and intriguing. If Season 2 can keep up the pace like this, it should make for a great season.

Last season was ok but this looks to be a major improvement and I do like the New Orleans backdrop.

Judge Dread, prison!
kelboy104 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A new direction is duly noted as nothing could possibly be the same after that finale bringing closure to season one. Michael is in prison, yet we are unaware of the timescale he has been there. Mourning over the death of his son he is now a shell of the man he once was. There is more focus on characters who barely saw the light of day in the first season such as Big Mo (Andrene Ward-Hammond) and Little Mo (Keith Macekanyanga). The war the audience might have always thought was eminent is threatening to spill out onto the streets between the Baxter's and Desire. The darker side of Gina Baxter is revealed further giving a hint that she is the real alpha behind the brutality of the Baxter family. We saw traces of her pulling the strings in season one yet I still wasn't entirely convinced. (Hope Davis) appears to be keeping her cards close to her chest playing the character subtle yet effective. (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) appears to be getting a bigger role as Charlie Figaro in cleaning up the city as he runs for mayor. I'm wondering whether or not we seen the last of Eugene Jones (Benjamin Flores Jr.) who was pivotal in concluding the last season whilst leaving a mess in the process. Olivia Delmont (Rosie Perez) sets up a reason for Michael to live with a be careful what you wish for type of vibe.

I'm thinking there is gonna be hell to pay for the Baxter family and Desire as Michael recovers from his mentally unstable state and exacts revenge. Once again I felt compelled to continue in the world of Your Honor giving credit to the acting and writing. Let just hope this new direction doesn't lose the ground routes of being a judge, or being Judged for your actions.

Has It Improved?
douglasmcbroom14 January 2023
After watching Season One, I rated it a 6 and wrote the following review: Bryan Cranston is just outstanding. I have never seen him when he wasn't outstanding. He also directs in this series and he is outstanding at that as well. But Cranston didn't write the script and therein lies some of the problems with this series. The story relies waaay to much on coincidence, and that's lazy writing. The other big problem is Hunter Doohan, who plays Cranston's son. He's not very good, and worse, he has to overcome a badly written part. The plot twist with the teacher we didn't need at all-totally irrelevant and unbelievable. Lilli Kay, who plays his gf, is also bad. Michael Stulhbarg, who is a terrific character actor with great range, plays an odd gangster. His wife, Hope Davis, is excellent, but I don't buy her very odd character either. Isiah Whitlock nails it. He is dead-on as Cranston's best friend, his son's Godfather, and a New Orleans politician and fixer. Whilst the movie utilizes the New Orleans locations well, the music, or lack thereof, is a big disappointment. If this series had maintained the momentum from its riveting first episode, it would have been a blockbuster, but alas, it does not. I'm also sick-to-death of this recurring notion of justice in Hollywood, and these tunnel-vision creatures who cannot recognize when a situation calls for a little, or big, compromise. They can only see one way- their way. They are smug self-righteous bores! In this case as portrayed by Carmen Ejogo. This series was a great idea that could have been so good, but fails to deliver on its promise. XXX

After watching this first episode of Season 2, which I rated a 7, the Hunter Doohan problem has been solved, but they've replaced that problem with a new one, Rosie Perez. The bigger problems, the writing and wholly improbable plotting, have not been solved. But I will watch this series because Cranston, Whitlock and Sthulbarg are compelling actors to watch and I will suffer through one-note Rosie and the improbable, implausible, only-in-Hollywood plot twists.

Part Eleven
bobcobb30122 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
We were all pleasantly surprised when we got the news that this show had been renewed despite it looking like it was a mini-series.

I do not know how much time or ideas they have left in this though. Why the need for time jumps? We all would have loved to follow up exactly the moments after that shocking party. It also seems like they're headed in a completely different direction and are just going to give us a big family war, something we could get from a hundred other shows.

It was okay, but it also sort of dragged on forever. Season one was okay, but I have my doubts about this ever living up to something worthy of Bryan Cranston's TV time.

As i suspected

Warning: Spoilers
This show was originally a limited series and we the audience was only going to get 1 season which i was very happy with season 1. So when i saw the trailer for season 2 i knew things would not flow together and i fear that episode 1 of season 2 would not be a smooth transition. So this episode starts with Your Honor in jail, no clear timeline of when and where the show is picking back up. One minute it seems like it starts from the night of the shooting, next we see how frail the judge is from not eating while being in prison which gives the impression of months due to him being so weak/skinny. The final kicker for me was when Fia comes to visit the judge and she's shows us the stack of letters that she has been writing him which he sent back to her but in the last moments of the episode we see that Fia has had a baby. Which I assume it's Adam's child so again the timeline is not clear especially since Fia was not in the season finale but now how a infant.

Laughable script!

Warning: Spoilers
The first season was bad enough, hard to believe this ridiculous show came back for season two! Just because you have Brian Cranston as your lead, doesn't mean he is going to carry a terrible storyline, ridiculous script and awful plot!

This should have ended with the last episode of season one. Drawing this clown show out to a second season is laughable! Brian Cranston's character would have been killed inside of 1 hour in prison. The mobster family is trite and no one would be having a candle light ceremony for their son.

The acting is shallow and the plot predicable. Dramatic lighting isn't going to carry this carnival.
