With regard to "Rhino", Rea and SenoReality Pictures will begin shooting the drama-thriller about drug dealers in a college town on April 21st. The short film stars Malcolm Goodwin of A&E’s new series “Breakout Kings” and Keith Loneker (Leatherheads, Lakeview Terrace). Principal photography will take place in Lawrence and Overland Park, Kansas.
As for Rea's anxiously awaited indie horror feature Nailbiter, he tells Dread Central that post-production is on track. The $200,000 budgeted film was shot in Lawrence, Kansas, and the Kansas City area and is hoping for its first screening in the late summer. Currently co-producer Ryan S. Jones is hard at work on sound design while composer Julian Bickford is scoring the film.

We're always happy to hear from Patrick Rea, a truly inspirational indie filmmaker who never has fewer than four or five irons in the fire at any one time, and today is no exception. Not only did Patrick provide us with an update and new stills from his sophomore feature, Nailbiter, but he also shared news about two other upcoming projects he's currently working on.
First, with regard to Nailbiter, the story of a mother and three daughters who get caught in a Kansas tornado and are forced to take shelter in a storm cellar, only to become trapped and discover they are not alone, Rea tells us, "The editing on Nailbiter will be completed by Christmas. We will then move to sound, music, and visual effects. We are hoping for a completion date of May, 2011."

I had the pleasure of meeting director Patrick Rea this summer at Fright Night Film Fest in Louisville, Kentucky this summer. You meet so many people at these kind of events and at each stop not everyone leaves a lasting impression on you. And then there is Patrick Rea, the guy can make a film, from his writing style to the lighting all the way to his direction of setting the mood for the film. I'm so impressed with Mr. Rea's work I'll be spreading the good word on his projects for now on. I also dare to compare his work with a Spielberg, Lucas, Cameron or even a Craven. Being the indie supporter that I am Rea's work comes across not so much as indie work but has the look of a full blown studio effort, the films are really that impressive! Check out my latest "Versus" with Patrick Rea...

SenoReality Pictures, in association with Free State Studios, has just wrapped production on a new short film entitled "Time's Up, Eve", a supernatural thriller set in the 1940's starring Sharon Wright and Ari Bavel.
Directed by Patrick Rea and co-written by Rea and Jon Niccum, the film was shot in Lawrence, Kansas, and Kansas City, Missouri. The director of photography is Hanuman Brown-Eagle, who shot "Time's Up, Eve" in black and white to give it a true "noir" feel. Rea and company hope to have the film finished by the end of the summer.
Below are some stills Rea sent over to give us a feel for how the completed short will look:
Rea is currently nearing the end of production on SenoReality's next feature, Nailbiter. Read more about that in Heather Wixson's recent interview with the up-and-coming filmmaker here.
Other SenoReality shorts have recently made the rounds of festivals...
