Ben uses a transparent five pin and barrel practice lock to demonstrate how it works and how such locks can be picked with a pair of modified hairpins. Picking the lock is only possible because there are slight manufacturing defects in the lock that can be exploited.

Ben shares a mosquito trap he learned about from Dan Rojas on his GreenPowerScience YouTube Channel. Place a sheet of window screen over the intake side of a box fan and turn it on. Mosuitos will be drawn to the screen and are too weak to fly away. Of course you don't want to let them go when you turn the fan off so Dan recommends spraying them with rubbing alcohol.

Ben demonstrates his improved method for making rope from dry grass and it was strong enough to support his weight even through a knot. After selecting the right grass for his needs he begins twisting a bunch then doubles it over and continues to twist. The rope practically forms by itself.

Ben borrows a technique from the ElementalMaker YouTube Channel to demonstrate how to make a synthetic ruby. Ruby is aluminum oxide with trace amounts of chromium which gives rubies the red color. Mixing then melting these components together at high temperature, Ben uses and arc welder, creates ruby.
