By Far One Of The Best To Date
gogojirago30 October 2021
I've been pretty disappointed with season 3 so far, so I was happy to thoroughly enjoy this episode. Both stories were well-crafted and well-acted.

"Drug Traffic" is a J-horror type tale, with shades of Junji Ito. A girl has her meds confiscated at the border, but what those meds hold at bay is fuel for pure manga nightmare. Michael Rooker's strong and layered performance levels this story up. There's a political aspect to the story, but the politics remain those of the characters and the filmmakers wisely don't push anything on the viewer.

"A Dead Girl Named Sue" follows an honest cop attempting to deal with a vigilante problem during the same night that the movie Night of The Living Dead takes place. This fully immersive, skillfully shot black-and-white horror-noir works well as an additional tale set in a universe many horror fans will already be familiar with.

It seems like last season they saved the best til last. Hopefully next season they production will step its game up and make all the episodes of this quality. Creepshow could be the anthology horror series we've been missing. Fingers crossed.

Not getting meds leads to a headless ghoul/Zombies rise from the dead!

Warning: Spoilers
This episode 6 from season 3 of "Shudder's", "Creepshow" series featured two interesting and timely entertaining tales of drama and blood ghoul like gore. They were "Drug Traffic/A Dead Girl Named Sue".

"Drug Traffic" a tale that seems timely as it involved the themes of immigration and politics along the border. It's a spin of a congressman who will do anything to get votes, as he uses the immigration and border issue to his advantage as he helps a mom get medicine across the border as this medication will help save her young daughter.(also love the old chief wooden head beer brand! Great super homage to 87's "Creepshow 2") Only things go off track afterwards when a border patrol and customs agent notices the meds and all goes haywire the tale turns painful for the young lady. It's a feast and revenge of a headless ghoul! Wow what a way to re enter the U. S. from another border!

Then "A Dead Girl Named Sue" was done in black and white set many years ago in a small town. Going on is the murders of local people and the citizens and police have a suspect only things twist as dead people from the grave come back and play a bloody part in this tale getting their own revenge.(the parody and feel from George A. Romero's "Night of the Living Dead" is present). Overall another good timely fright felt episode that features blood and gore with parody and homage that pays tribute to not only the series, but the "Creepshow" movies also.

Thanks I hate it! Best episode of the season
braincandle-130 October 2021
That 1st story with the girl and her mother at the Canadian border had me yelling "No! No I hate it make it stop! Noooo! No I hate it ahhh!" over and over. My favorite of the season, thanks for saving the best for last I guess? Last season the Evil Dead at pbs was the best and season opener. Anyways, thanks I hate it!

Again one good, the other not so.

Warning: Spoilers
The series has been up and down since it's inception. The first season was solid but it's gone down thereafter. This season has been the worst but does have a couple of decent episodes.

The first episode would have been better if not for the overt preaching and politicizing. It was like watching a PSA at one point. You knew the motives of the Congressman but he becomes even more of a douchebag later on. Is that possible?? The border patrol officer seemed be all over the place in his ideologies. What the mother and daughter dealt with was a supernatural statement of what people deal with trying to get inexpensive lifesaving medication and the consequences when they are forced to do without. I did have to laugh at the effects of her disembodied head seemingly floating. It looked like it was hung on an IV pole and scooted around. THAT is a good classic Creepshow cheeky effect. I don't think todays filmmakers understand you can still tell an effective story, make a point without jamming down it down our throats.

Now... The second one does just that, like it's influence; The Night Of The Living Dead. It's set in the 60's, so the black and white filming is appropriate and effective. It's actually based on a short that EP Greg Nicotero read years ago. It wasn't until this season that it was finally made. There is a good backstory regarding this series that ties into George Romero.

The original movie had an allegorical message regarding injustice and prejudice without being preachy. It just told a story. What would have been better was to have had Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) in it instead of the first episode. Nicotero is EP of that show as well so it would have been a nice tie in. I also liked the fact they used the "news footage" from NOTLD on the TV in the police station during this version. Overall, a good story.

Just Stop Already

Just what everyone was looking for in a horror anthology episode, a conversation about US health care policy. The level of self-absorption it must take to write something like this is unfathomably high. If the writers just focused their energy into telling a good story instead of advancing an agenda it might not turn out awful, but alas, they cannot help themselves. Yawn.

The real horror....
LaMigraCartel30 November 2021
Is the insane amount of propaganda in these episodes. Lord have mercy, they're not even trying to make it scary anymore. The whole concept that this was supposed to be a horror series has been completely forgotten.

What a pathetic episode
Valkonian24 July 2023
Good grief. This first part of the episode was despicable. Beyond dumb. Why the need to throw in political correct BS? Stupid. It wasn't even scary. The horror was in Joe HORRIBLE an episode it was. Horribly written. Horrible plot. Horrible message.

As others have stated this season has been up and down with episodes but I had to comment on this particular episode because of how BAD the first part of this episode was. Just so pathetic.

And what's with this new minimum character amount for reviews, it sucks! IMDB is getting worse and worse by the day. I miss the old days of having forums and no char limit on reviews.
