Here are a diverse set of scientific facts that will probably never come up in your life again. But you can still use them to amaze your friends. For example: the wholly mammoth coexisted with the pyramids of Egypt for a millennium. Or, to raise a rope wrapped around the earth by one foot you'd need only 6.3 more feet of rope and you'd need the same amount if you used a basketball instead.

Here is Tom's perspective on the Dunning-Kruger Effect. If you're not familiar with this effect you have a long way to go. The effect is demonstrated by a graph of your experience versus confidence which shows over-confidence comes quickly following a major loss of confidence as your knowledge grows and reality sinks in.
