A Successful Revival of a Classic Game Show
hfan7730 April 2010
After two attempts to revive Let's Make a Deal without Monty Hall, the third time turned out to be a charm as CBS revived the show to replace the long running soap opera Guiding Light with Wayne Brady as host. I have seen numerous episodes and to me it's a successful revival of a classic game show since the producers and Hall, who serves as a consultant made the right choice in hiring Brady.

Coming off a stint on Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics, Brady shows that he is a very competent host, injecting humor, not overpowering the game and having excellent rapport with contestants, which is a good asset for a game show host. He's also one of the few African- American game show hosts who is destined to have a long run. Let's Make a Deal has always been one of the most difficult shows to host and Brady has the ability to do what Bob Hilton and Billy Bush failed to do, build drama and suspense and have a quick wit.

Also added to the show's success is announcer/sidekick Jonathan Mangum. He has outstanding chemistry with Brady the way hall had with Jay Stewart and he also should have an outstanding future ahead of him as a game show announcer. Let's not overlook the show's model Tiffany Coyne.

CBS made the right choice in adding Let's Make a Deal to its daytime lineup, the first new network daytime game show in 15 years and by allowing stations to run it in either the morning or afternoon, it could have the potential to have a long run. And that's no zonk.

More silliness, less deals
SashaDabinski21 August 2020
I wonder if Lets Make A Deal is in a money crunch since there are less prizes given away, more zonks, and silly skits. Time for a new host and reboot

Still good, but has room for improvement
supermath-3247214 June 2021
I have enjoyed this revival hosted by Wayne Brady for quite a long time. This show has had a lot of good qualities over the years, and it was a show I would look forward to every day. It had laughs, fun, and a whole bunch of prizes and funny zonks. But after 12 years, does this revival still stand strong?

To be honest, it's a little hard to say. Season 12 of LMAD has recently ended, and I was unfortunately a bit underwhelmed with this last season. Don't get me wrong, many of the same great games of the show were still there, but that's part of the problem: it creates a feeling of deja vu. Only 2 games were added to the show this season, and while that's better than nothing, it isn't enough to make the show feel brand new. As a result, I felt as if they played it safe this season, but at least they didn't try to fix what isn't broken.

Actually, it's probably a good thing they played it safe. After all, we are still in the middle of the pandemic right now, and I think the team did a great job to protect their contestants from Covid. The new format is designed quite well, with 12 contestants onstage socially distanced from each other, and 18 more contestants playing from the comfort of their homes.

Unfortunately, I noticed that when Wayne picks contestants, he mostly picks contestants onstage rather than the ones at home, and it feels a bit unbalanced as a result.

The flaws don't quite end there, however. One of the problems with this show is that when Wayne offers money to stop playing certain games, he can go a bit too far so that the contestant takes the money but misses out on a truly amazing prize, usually a car or a vacation. A good example of this is when a woman played 0 to 80, a game where you must pick up tokens and reach 80 miles per hour in 4 picks or less. After her second pick, she was already at 60 miles per hour, but Wayne offered $1,000 not to continue. Then $2,000. Then $3,000. She agreed to take the $3,000 before her third pick, which would have won her the car. It sometimes feels like Wayne doesn't want to give out these prizes at all, and while this has always been a problem with the show, it only feels more frustrating now.

Still, as previously mentioned, this show has a lot of great qualities. Oftentimes, Wayne will reward a person $100 or so if they get zonked but show an impressive talent or if it's a friends birthday. Speaking of zonks, the show boasts a great variety of zonks, which are funny but worthless prizes. A lot of these zonks are very clever, such as a pot of mold(as opposed to a pot of gold) or a jelly bean purse.

Meanwhile, many of the games are good fun to watch, though it can be a bit tiring to watch the same game 100 times or so. Though most of them are luck based, some involve a bit of trivia or even drawing something as accurately as possible within 15 seconds.

All in all, Let's Make a Deal has had an impressive run over the years, and this revival has been quite enjoyable for some time. However, it could definitely use some improvements, such as adding a few new games. I also agree with the discrimination comments somewhat, as Wayne can sometimes be a bit picky with the contestants. In the end though, this is still a rock solid show, even if I did find season 12 to be a bit underwhelming, though it certainly isn't worse than previous seasons.

A Worthy Successor
Sargebri7 April 2010
Let me start of the reviews by saying that this version of a television classic is a worthy successor to all the versions that have aired in the past. Wayne Brady definitely brings a younger and hipper feel to the show and he is the perfect successor to Monty Hall. What also makes this version great is the chemistry between Brady and Jonathan Mangum. They pretty much have made this a showcase for their improvisational comedy skills and it shows whenever someone gets "zonked" or when they have to deal with some of the crazier contestants that they will get.

This show is definitely a great compliment to "The Price is Right", which it leads into.

Some episodes Good others annoying
bewitched792123 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Used to watch this all the time but the contestant's got annoying always getting greedy and not keeping the gifts they already got and screaming when they got picked too many greedy people I think Wayne Brady is hot very hot man cant stand Tiffany she's annoying and looks like she's reading off of cue cards the zonk em style song is irritating not funny..then after 2020 has people at home on there screens in the show which was irritating and there smiles were so fake most of them looked like they came off the slow bus skip that season bad as Price is right doing the same thing especially people screaming when they get on stage or dancing like a chicken with its head cut off.

I miss Monty HAll
themercoflife15 November 2023
This show is terrible Cheap Only one person gets to go for the final deal It just seems cheap and no where as good as Monty Halls lets make a deal. This show has the same name but NO WHERE as good I was excited to hear about the new Lets Make a Deal but this show is a dud . The price is right is very good and if i had to make a choice between Lets Make A Deal and The price is right I would pick the price is right every time I would even watch a rerun of the Price is right before i would watch this cheap imitation of the real Lets Make a Deal with Monty Hall. If they ever decide to make this like the old Lets make a deal I would watch it but I wont in the state that it is now.

Good adaption of a game show favorite
dinergirlt24 January 2018
When CBS announced the cancellation of Guiding Light and chose Let's Make A Deal as Guiding Light's replacement show many fans were disappointed at Guiding Light's cancellation but happy to see Let's Make A Deal return in a new version to TV. Although many people think this version of Let's Make A Deal seems like a spin-off of The Price Is Right because it's produced by FremantleMedia and shares Mike Richards as producer CBS has come to air a game show that people of all ages can like and enjoy on TV. When it comes to making deals and bringing joy and laughter to every contestant Wayne Brady is an excellent choice to host the show and delivers fun and excitement as the late Monty Hall did when he was the host of the original version of Let's Make A Deal and the announcer Jonathan Magnum and model Tiffany Coyne make excellent additions to the Let's Make A Deal cast along with Cat Gray who is also part of Wayne Brady's band. The only improvement I would do for Let's Make A Deal in the future is have more trips to U.S. cities be given as prizes to contestants who play rather than trips to South Africa India China England and other countries. But CBS has done an amazing job with Let's Make A Deal and I hope they can continue to keep the spirit of Monty Hall alive with future seasons. I am glad that it's still on the air and hope CBS makes more episodes and less themed episodes as well

A superb revival.
BlackJack_B2 October 2010
As someone who loved the many versions of the Monty Hall-helmed "Let's Make A Deal", I was happy to hear about this revival a year ago. While it's not perfect, it's still way better than any other game show on T.V.

I've been a big fan of Wayne Brady for years; I've seen his stage show here in Ottawa. As one of the best improv comics around, he's able to use his myriad talents to fit into any situation his contestants place him in. I know that some purists prefer Monty's no-nonsense car salesman style but what can you do?

Wayne's good friend Jonathan Mangum is the announcer and the two share tremendous chemistry, which helps keep the show entertaining. They have worked together in Las Vegas for several years and put that to good use.

I was never a fan of Alison Fiori as the original door girl; Tiffany Coyne is a huge improvement here. She reminds me of Carol Merrill, the woman who had the same duties when Monty hosted. She's cool.

I especially like watching a game show during The Great Depression 2 and seeing what decisions people are making in regards to deals. It adds something to the show, that honest and unflinching reality we live in.

The only problem I have with Let's Make A Deal is that I'd prefer Wayne to just pick people quickly like Monty did. I don't know why he needs to go all 80's and have music playing while he chooses somebody.

Still, the show is great fun and Monty Hall has a hand in it so it's true to its source. I like some of the games they play and the contestants' crazy antics fit well since they are costumed. I'm glad to see a new season of shows are being aired and I will be enjoying this until May.

I do hope they get to return to Las Vegas, though. It seems to be more Vegas than Los Angeles in regards to atmosphere.

Horrible show
lonniehodge3 January 2022
Horrible show I hate it when people make fools them selves for virtually nothing. The majority people in the shower losers and whatever event they take place in. If you're going to watch the game show watch the price is right. At least people win there. And they don't have to act like idiots. Sick of the show. It's emblematic of what our country has become.

Should be renamed The Wayne Brady Variety show
kally-0879117 July 2020
I used to enjoy "Let's Make a Deal" whenever I had the chance to watch it. Now with host Wayne Brady, it's more like a forum for Mr. Brady to sing, dance & use so much time performing instead of the reason he's hosting - to make deals with people. I find it really annoying that he spends all this time on the show using it to perform. That's not why he's there.

Wayne needs better way to call up audiences for Let Make A Deal.
ndoan-5549226 September 2018
Hi Wayne. You are a very good host for Let Make A Deal. I watched your show many times and have felt you focus on African-American audiences a lot. Example of your show in Sept 2018: you called up 4 African-Americans and only 1 white and 1 (possibly) Mexican-American. I do not know why your show does not have the way as same as Price Is Right, by drawing names from audiences instead of calling up by yourself. Hope you have more objective thoughts for your show to audiences. Thanks. Nhon Doan

For all the reboots that suck, this one went absolutely perfect
illogic6620 September 2018
I was doubly thrilled when LMAD came back, because not only is it an excellent version of the classic show (everybody in the audience could potentially be a contestant and there is no 'peanut gallery' in the back) but Wayne Brady is a tremendous host who has great chemistry with Jonathan Mangum, Tiffany Coyne and Cat Gray. Together they are one of the best casts of any game show every made.

Ignore the bad reviews; two of them are people who were disappointed with their experience on the show (and two of those are people who were on the show and aren't even reviewing the actual show based on viewing it, so their reviews shouldn't even be here), and the others are just weird stuff about Wayne being racist or whatever, which is ridiculous (how paranoid and angry do you have to be to think the adorable and charming Wayne Brady is frigging racist?). Bottom line: one of the best game shows ever made, with one of the best hosts ever. They got lightning in a bottle twice.

Shenanigans instead of deals.
secretlocket11 March 2022
He drags out all these stupid things he does not have to make deals . He always tries to talk people out of winning big prizes.

The old show was much better. He made deals not dragged out stall features.

Great Show Let's Make A Deal
pachambers-2812023 October 2020
Great Show to watch. I enjoy playing with the people at home. Wayne, Jonathan, Kit, and Tiffany all the others are very talented. It's amazing how they are able to produce impromptu songs, poems etc. They all seem to work well together. They are very hearted unfriendly. They show wonderful professional, respect , and courteous services to their audiences. I like the way Wayne tells his mom good bye. They are Awesome.

this show looks so fake.
ThunderKing620 August 2020
This show and its contestants look so fake sometimes.

Iunno what it is. Maybe either bad production, lame concept or bad actors or even lame people/contestants. Iunno.

The show is basically cosplay gambling while you cosplay and gamble at the same time. The people act dumb, so they can win cash and expensive stuff. The host will say keep prize or go for the deal. If they get a lame zoink they lose all their stuff.

Verdict: The show was made for old people and for people who like to dress up and act like fools.

Gets more ridiculous every day
susiemohler23 April 2015
The older Let's make a deal was a classy show. This show has gotten to the point of ridiculousness and I now turn the channel - cannot stand the stupidity. Since I'm required to write 10 lines, I'll continue to reiterate how stupid this show is. I do not care to hear Wayne Brady sing - if he wants to be a singer - go do that. The stupid skits they do are an insult to our intelligence. Time to get this show off the air. Too bad because the older version was quite enjoyable. Same with Price is Right. Must be an agreement they sign to get on the show to see how utterly stupid the contestants can act. Sick of it and will not be watching it any more.

HotlikeFire2515 June 2019
Personally I like LMAD I like how Wayne, Jonathan, Cat and Tiffany all get along so well. The negative commenters sound like people who just hate change. Too bad, because change is needed undo the mess from old days, including old people tv.

Why no men?
meehandawn9 March 2020
Everytime my husband & I watch this show we've noticed that the majority of the people Wayne Brady picks are women. I think that if men didn't want to be on the game show they wouldn't go. We watched March 9, 2020 episode and only 3 men were picked. It's sad that my husband thinks Mr. Brady is prejudice. The same amount of men and women should be picked.

Tiffany
mbcollie043 October 2014
Why can't we go back to Danielle? At least she knew better than to have tan lines with a strapless dress. Danielle had some sex appeal. Tiffany is just blah, nothing to really look at. Beef up the program with someone viewers can't wait to see next. Wayne and Johnny need to start practicing their routine. Johnathon is not a Drew Carey and needs to learn improve. The only thing making me keep watching the show are the gimmicks and Wayne. The intro says contestants are picked because they stand out, I men really, picking someone wearing a common every day dress! Pick people that have put some thought and work into their outfits. How many times have we seen contestants picked who are wearing a bacon, or banana costume they bought at the costume store for $10.99.

2-part review, One for the audience and one for the show
mcguiremelody20 February 2023
First and foremost, IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE SHOW WHY DO YOU WATCH IT? Do you not have anything better to do with your time than to try to find ANY POSSIBLE THING WRONG with your pessimistic mind?? Pathetic! GET A LIFE! Oh, I know, "LET'S MAKE A LIFE!" Secondly, I like waking up to "LETS MAKE A DEAL" I look at the talent rather than the flaws. How about Kat? He's a pretty cool "Cat". Why wouldn't you agree with that?! There's so much talent that these negative-no-good-for-nothings are incapable of seeing. I'm so fortunate that I'm able to see the good in people without losing my grip. Wayne, you're always cool! Jonathan- "big-head" you're a cool cat too. Not to mention the talented "Kat man" and Tiffany Coyne who's got a free-spirited, down to earth spunkiness, herself and she's great on the show. I know I couldn't do any better than these guys!

YOU ALL A BUNCH OF HATERS out there doing these reviews, at least the ones that leave these ridiculous, negative reviews! Try to find something good in people for a change! WTF!?

Tiffany's wardrobe
michaelkeller-8902418 October 2022
I love the show, and the deals that they offer. Sometimes it seems that wayne brady Is alittle full of himself. It can tend to get annoying. Jonathan , is quite funny. He seems to get picked on,BUT, he's tough and a happy go lucky guy. Tiffany is great. One HUGE complaint, which I know for a fact, because I've seen other emails, and heard it in discussions from other men.

When the show was new, or I should say since tiffany had her 2 children. She started to dress like a old lady. Just like vana white, or even like my grandmother. Always long gowns or dresses. I mean you're a beautiful woman. You still have it going on, you're the model, the eye candy of the show. Certainly wayne, and Jonathan aren't, lol. Look at Rachel Reynolds. She's a year younger and her dresses are anywhere from 6 to 12 inches shorter. You both have beautiful figures.

I only watch let's make a deal occasionally now, and tend to wait for the price is right to come on. I mean in today's society, if you're a beautiful woman, a model, and work on a game show, it's not unheard of to look appealing to draw in the male part of the viewers. After all, that's why they put male models on the price is right.

Excellent Show
sherronjoyce10 May 2023
I was a contestant on Let's Make A Deal and I enjoyed meeting Wayne, Tiffany, Jonathan and the their crew. I was so excited to be there. It was my first time being on TV. Everybody made me feel so welcome. If I had to give it a grade, it would be : 100% A 10! Thanks CBS! And thanks you to the Cast and Crew of Let's Make A Deal! I have told many other potential contestants about how good they made me feel! Maybe, I will have an opportunity to be a guest or contestant on the show again some day. I was an a dedicated fan of the show, for years and never dreamed I would be a contestant on it! Good.
