Try Guys but on a larger budget
katiejjenkins1 September 2022
I've been watching the Try Guys since the early days and have enjoyed watching them and their content grow. This show is a great natural progression from online personalities to cable that allows them to keep their brand and humor intact. If you've seen their without a recipe series this is it but different. I wouldn't say better, the absolute chaos of the YouTube series is tempered in this tv series. I find that it works though now that the guys have really grasped at least basic cooking skills (I'm looking at you Zach). The recipes are inventive and the humor is a perfect blend of witty and silly. Keep making great content guys, you've definitely inspired me to be more creative in the kitchen with this one.

Finally on Food Network!

I am so happy the Try Guys finally made it to network television. This show is such a fun concept and really well exicuted. Similar to their 'Without a Recipe' YouTube show but having them visit some of the best restaurants in the country and the second round of competition is a fun little twist for long time fans of the guys. They are keeping their humor and personalities true to who they are, so also nice to see that network tv is not trying to control their creativity or presentation too much. Obviously they are not good cooks for the most part, but that's what makes it fun to watch- someone doing this same concept who actually has culinary training would not be nearly as entertaining to watch.

Warning: Spoilers
This breathes new life into food network. It's like worst chefs in America but with YouTube personalities. The Try Guys are so funny, they're obviously skilled in improv, and while it's a little annoying that Ned is obviously a better cook than all of the others (he literally wrote a cook book) he doesn't use a ton of his bread and Italian expertise. I was THRILLED when Zach won the burger cook off. He's so pure and genuine, and he's my favorite of all of the guys. I hope this gets a second season! It would be fun for Keith's band to make a theme song for each episode. Bravo Try Guys!! You can do anything!!
