Compelling story
laduqesa10 April 2022
Based loosely on real events, this told the tale of a father's disappearance (not a mother as implied in the IMDB storyline) and the search for his whereabouts. Compelling it might have been, but that doesn't mean to say I believe that what was recounted in the series was truly what happened in real life. I can't imagine the Swedish police, for a start, being so inept and casual about the disappearance of a rich and important man. It seemed like there were clues galore as to where he was and what had happened as well as very reasonable suspicions. It was hard to believe that the civilian investigator Tanja Thorell could have singlehandedly solved the case in the face of a closed inquiry and risking her own life in the process. I'd love to know what actually happened in the real-life story. I surmise it would have been too boring to have been filmed so much of what we saw on screen was invented.

Nonetheless, it made for a few interesting hours of viewing. The other leads played their parts well; Gustav Lindh played the part of Marcus Tingström with a real sense of menace and as a man on the edge.

I was also intrigued by the forestry angle and the clash between the old and new ways of working. I lived for a while near a plantation in Finland, although the woods surrounding our cottage were wild, and used to see the modern methods used there.

All in all, a decent drama and at five forty-minute episodes, it was just the right length.

Good and very tense series of a true crime!
Guanche4810 May 2023
Very good series, more dramatic than I expected but also very tense and very strong, it will keep you on your toes until the end.

The role of the manager of missing persons, Tanja, seemed to me most exciting and also quite irritating at times. Tanja is a very unstable person in her personal life, but despite this she fights always until the end to find the disappeared, and in this specific case, she also puts her life at risk. The part of the series in which she manipulates farmer Marcus and the dialogues are very tense and take you to that path of confusion in which you don't know what is going to happen. Very well done and very exciting!.. and even more knowing that the story is based in real events. Creepy!

The story of the forest farmers also seemed very interesting to me, a good portrait of this hard work. The rich landowner is very stubborn and everything has to be done his way, his daughter, Sanna, seemed to me a very pathetic and depressed person throughout the series, she tries but she is too young and stupid to overcome her powerful father. The story is very realistic and hits you with all kind of questions and feelings.

Do not miss it if you like good crime Scandinavian series, although it is somewhat depressing at times, the tension, realism and photography win and make it a story not to be missed.

Good plot, but....

.....terrible acting, bad manuscript, acceptable filming.

Swedish actors are said to be selected whether they have a CV from Dramaten or not. It seems to be true, because it is the same in every Swedish film and series, that they seem to read from the script when they act in front of the camera. Is there no coach for them on site ?! The make-up is probably nothing to cheer about. The music is the same.

My suggestion is to contact those who make English series thrillers and detective stories and learn how to act in front of the camera and how those who film should screen how the action is filmed.

There is nothing wrong with learning to get better.
