Here's a compilation of gag sequences from Fox 'Sunshine' short comedies, cut from their original movies and offered as a newsreel, each with a brief, "explanatory" title, a la a newsreel. Fans of old cartoons will recognize the format from various sources; fans of very old comedies will recognize the players.
Fox, having the resources of a sizable studio in the 1920s, had many skilled comics on staff, and the ability to create elaborate and popular short comedies; alas, a major fire in a storage facility in the late 1930s, and the neglectful attitude that many companies had towards their silent product have reduced their short productions to a comparative handful, and items like this are among the few places one can see the company's creative comedy output. Shorn of their context, they seem more bizarre than amusing.
