Wow, this man CAN'T CATCH A BREAK!
OrganicallyGrown5 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, as with most programs these days, at best, the husband is portrayed as the one who is inept or to blame for the downfall of a marriage or, at worst, he is portrayed as either a complete idiot or a psychotic abuser.

This husband is none of these things, yet the description describes him as "controlling". I don't really agree.

Co-dependent, yes, controlling, not really. He wants what is best for EVERYONE else, above himself. Certainly not healthy, but what is "normal" these days with creepy men running around with dresses on, replacing women in their sports, right?

This man's mother is a classic, malignant narcissist who thinks only of herself. This is very likely how he became codependent and grew up to attract a woman who CAN NEVER be satisfied, complains constantly, even though he jumps through hoops to appease her every whim. Meanwhile, all of her fixation is on playing the cello, instead of focusing on her marriage and the life they're building, even though she clearly wanted the big expensive house that he is literally killing himself at work to pay for!

The wife's brother is an unethical loser, meanwhile the husband's brother needs constant assistance due to alcohol abuse.

The wife never supports him in anything, and never stops whining that she is not being supported. She is triggered by anything and everything. Even though he has his flaws, plenty of women would be lining up to be married to a hard working man who can be trusted and truly cherishes their family.

There is SO much more, but you will have to watch this insane show to see how horrid his selfish wife and self-pitying mother treat him!

This show should be mandatory viewing for young men, teaching them all the RED FLAGS to watch out for when choosing a wife!

Oh, forgot, this whole show revolves around about time travel and I am now 5 episodes into it, but really, the a-hole females in this show are really the main attraction...they are just really infuriating shrews.

A Drama in the "Groundhog Day" Style with Some Growing Pains
ldbear-315087 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm reviewing this after two episodes only - There's a relationship in trouble in "Plan B." To make a long story short, Patrick J. Adams as Philip takes Karine Vanasse as Evelyn for granted in a big way and has done it one too many times. How self-absorbed is he? Let's just say if Adams' Mike took Meghan Markle's Rachel for granted this much on "Suits," Rachel would've slapped him silly. Anyway, Evelyn has enough and leaves Philip. Philip stumbles across a company called "Plan B" that gives do-overs and Phil goes that way.

What ensues is a "Groundhog Day"-style plot as Phil gets a second chance to do better. The challenge with this style of plot is that it's repetitive, literally. What makes it interesting as a viewer is having the fore knowledge of what already happened and seeing the consequence of something changing. And even a small change can create a big consequence. There needs to be substantial alteration from the original outcome or else the continued repetition will make the plot dull.

"Plan B" is having difficulty so far keeping the dullness out of its main plot. I think the problem lies in the plot itself, which involves this couple at odds and they argue a lot. Many of the changes that occur with the do-over still bring on arguments between Evelyn and Philip. For example, they argue first about a dinner party. After Philip gets his do-over, they argue instead about the price of a cello. Same argument, different theme. Rinse and repeat.

I did give the show a 7 rating though, and that's for a few reasons. Thankfully, there are sub-plots that are far more successful within this "Groundhog Day" structure. The most interesting one involves Evelyn's brother, Patrick, played by François Arnaud. Philip and Patrick are partners in a boutique law firm and they're trying to land a whale of a client. Evelyn is working as their paralegal and as, apparently, the only person of the three who can get coffee and answer the phone. Patrick's taking one for the team - so to speak -- to satisfy this perspective client's needs. The things Philip does in his do-over has great influence over Patrick's life and their law firm in general and I found all of that very entertaining. The other thing I loved was how you book your do-over with "Plan B." That alone was worth the 7 rating.

Even though the show has the weakness I mentioned, it's only been two episodes. I'm relatively confident that it's growing pains and the relationship between the main couple will get more interesting. The opportunity is definitely there, due to a very capable cast.

A depressing insight into modern values
dusadomovine25 April 2023
What an absolutely horrible depiction of modern women. The story presents women (Evelyn) as selfish and self-absorbed and never happy. A marriage is about compromise and building a family - it is not about "what can you do for me". Sadly, society is far too much about "me".

I think that the best thing that Philip can do is go back in time and erase his relationship with Evelyn. He tries so hard, makes all sorts of compromises, tries to fix all mistakes but Evelyn does not care. How sad that this is not only on TV but is happening more and more in the real world.

The selfishness of women is further displayed in "the baby is mine" because I am the mother and do not care about the father. The father should have equal rights to his child. Thank God that I am not 20 years old in this strange new world.

Interesting Premise
ccard-381555 April 2023
Plan B attempts to explore the "what if" of decision making. What if we had the option to go back and do it differently? It's not as easy as changing one thing to create the desirable outcome. There are many variables attached. It's an interesting premise to see various versions of the past trying to manipulate the future. The problem is the series is not that engaging. While I was interested enough to see where it would lead, I didn't care about the characters and sometimes found them annoying. As a concept, I found Plan B creative but wish they'd done something more substantial with the set-up. Still the series held my partial attention at times.

Frustratingly Toxic
The80sKickAss14 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Based on the first two episodes.

This show wants me to dislike Phillip. The description even labels him as "controlling" when he's not really. I would describe him as laser focused on work. He's trying very hard to get land a big deal, get his house renovated for his girlfriend, and keep his brother from falling off the wagon. His girlfriend and his business partner are both bad at communication and just terrible people.

Once he finds out that she is unhappy, he does everything he can to try to fix it. He genuinely cares about her. She comes off as an unforgiving and selfish person. Every time he does something she just asks for more. Phillips business partner just sets up meetings and does things behind his back.

By the second episode, it just turned into "people pleasing" the TV show. I wanted him to just let her walk away and let the business fail. He's surrounded by toxic people and the show wants me to believe he's the one with the problem.

He was arrogant at times and he didn't pick up on the cues from his girlfriend that she was unhappy. He made mistakes and he's working on fixing that. She was pregnant and didn't tell him, she was drinking while pregnant, she cheated on him, she decides she wants a cello when she knows they are in massive debt, she can't wait a week before starting up her music career, she gets mad at him over a text when she actually cheated. I do not feel sorry for her in the slightest.

Worth your Time
SAJK00723 October 2023
An Intriguing Premise, Well Handled.

What if you could re-live portions of your life and potentially improve the outcome? Hollywood has touched on this before with films such as 'Sliding Doors' and 'Butterfly Effect', but this Canadian series featuring 'Suits' star Patrick J Adams examines the premise in a much more intimate way.

Without giving too much away, the show uses the 'Sliding Doors' device to reveal aspects of the characters that become more surprising with each episode. The 6th (and final?) episode is a revelation in more ways than one.

The writing, acting and production are all top notch.

Overall, this is a series worthy of much wider attention than what it currently appears to be receiving. If you can find it, give it a try. You will certainly be entertained.

They made this tough to watch
Xavier_Stone14 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Most time travel/repeat the day shows have a bit of science fiction in them and pare that with some humor. This has none of that, just straight up arguments and attempts to fix relationships. Once something is fixed then additional problems arise because of course, the show has to keep going and find drama everywhere with everything.

I lasted several seasons of Suits before eventually getting bored of the same story line over and over, rinse repeat and argue. This is somewhat like that, except that there are no likeable characters really, everyone has flaws and it's all from the main characters view point.

I lasted the first 2 episodes, the pilot was interesting, but the 2nd eps really crashed for me and I'm going to predict that as time goes on he gets more and more tangled and ends up restarting his do over day earlier and earlier to fix things.

With an argument or confrontation in nearly every scene this is just not the thing I want to watch. 2/10. I doubt it gets a season two extension.

just finished the last episode and i love this show, but it didnt start that way.
swdr-2049415 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So i dont wanna write a huge review but i want to put my opinion down very badly, ill attempt at making it interesting. At first i started watching this show because of time travel and i was excited to start something new only to learn it was a slow drama where the guy is getting dumped on constantly by his selfish girlfriend and it literally hurt me to watch, it was so painful, but for some reason i kept feeling this urge to need to know what he was going to do next, what was going to happen, i was glued it, and after the first few episodes i felt this hatred, but they kept throwing in these crazy twists right at the end of every episode, and then comes the last 3 episodes where it really kicks up the gear, until the final episode where i was literally left in shock with my mouth open wide and just had this amazing relief and felt this accomplishment for sticking with the story till the end just so i could enjoy the twist. What a great curve ball, and i just felt his pain and almost loved his choice.... but yet im still left with so many questions and ended on another twist. As much as this is a drama and i was hoping for more time machine and sci-fi i was highly impressed with the writing and it kept me coming back and always wanting more, and honestly it cut to my core with the character and story building. All i know is i need and want more ASAP !!!! Definitely better to binge it all at once and not have to wait a week between each episode to linger in the hate and unknown.

not good enough
Omninerd10 April 2023
Total: 5.5/10 Plot: 6/10 Characters: 6/10 Protagonists: 7/10 Antagonists: 4/10 Romance: 5/10 Philosophy: 8/10 Entertainment: 6/10

This show is pretty close to being actually really good.

I wish I could recommend this, but unfortunately there are blatant issues.

First of all in the first episode relatively at the beginning (hence not really a spoiler) It seems like the brother of the protagonists girlfriend is sleeping with his sister, which is never brought up again. This to me was egregious and I wanted some form of pay off to that scene that never came.

The second issue is, that we just don't really get any satisfactory payoff scenes at all. They are always drowned in new issues for the protagonist.

The third is that the protagonist is really not very likeable even though he isn't as horrible as the other characters.

To me this could have been a dark comedy about the abyss that the human sociality can be. But it also fails at that due to the plot not allowing for things to spiral out of the ordinary too far before our protagonist pulls the halyard and sets sail to another realm of possibilities only to run another issue.

The acting is good. The overall promised time travel works relatively well even though way too unexplored.

I wanted to like this show because I like the concept of a character knowing the future in fiction and acting accordingly to his knowledge.

I'm willing to give it a 5.5/10 for what it's worth with a tendency to a 6.

Watching paint dry or this
garda-land2000019 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I liked this guy in suits, just in the 1st season, now he acts like in the last 4 seasons of suits, it is cringe.

The concept of the show is not bad at it's core is just a time travel that you pay with money, but I can describe how the writers look and behave without even seeing them, because that is how uninspired the script is.

The lack of substance of the show, you realize it just makes no sense.

1. so his gay friend that they own a lawyer company together, sleeps with a woman to get an interview by betraying his partner and 2 adopted kids.

2. His girlfriend, goes on a complaint spree, complains about his brother that is divorced and has a drinking problem (I would too when yet again she lost his child and also has to pay alimony), about him not wanting to go to her parents that hate him, goes to an abortion clinic because she is late, complains about working 60 hours a week at the same firm and her brother works, complain about paint in the bedroom, and she leaves him and runs away, to be honest I would rather be alone than date such a superficial person.

The writers where more preoccupied in checking to boxes than to write actual believable characters that have real internal and external conflict, getting separated because she complains about paint being blue and not what color she wanted is not a good reason to time travel.

Fantastic Watch
nonsensehere15 April 2023
I don't know why this show has such a low score. Well done and entertaining series. Hopefully they'll do more seasons. All episodes are interesting but that final episode was spine tingling. I'm still reeling from it as I write this review. Definitely give the series a watch if you can and I wish for people not to always be so harsh. Acting was great and so was the story. I am glad I watched. Now to meet the minimum number of characters for a review. I wish it were less. I am sad it is over and do hope they will do more seasons. They have no background on Plan B so that would be interesting to hear about.

Unclear Plot
abidzuby19 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The show description says 'controlling man' do describe Patrick's character. But the more you watch you realize that he actually cares about his girlfriend a lot and his every attempt to make it work is challenged by her annoyance. She has a problem with everything about him...his brother, his job, the paint colour, family dinner, money (for Cello), and his trying his best.

Also, you can't paint him as a control freak when you pile his plate with problems in his every aspect.

That's actually a very modern problem, when a guy tries really hard to not loose everything thing and then tries fixing things to save relationships and work etc..he ends up as a controlling person.

Control freaks do exist but that's a whole different thing, certainly not what the show is trying to portray.

The cast is pretty decent and the whole call-a-number-and-pay to travel back is actually more believable and fun than those time machines and squeezing into a closet possibilities.

Pla(i)n B(ad)
somethingreal8110 April 2023
Yikes. Where to start? First, this is maybe the dullest and most joyless time travel show in history. The main character repeatedly invokes a service that lets him travel back in time but really has zero questions about who these people are or how this is possible? Second, everything is played with a deadly seriousness that just doesn't work. Time travel shows usually involve a little humor as characters repeat scenes over again or know about things in advance to comedic effect. But not here. Instead, everything devolves into melodrama. Last, but certainly not least, all of the characters are completely insufferable. The story is written in such a way that the writers are obviously trying to present the leads as star crossed lovers we should be rooting for. But the main character isn't likable and his wife is even worse. The creators should go back in time for a do over on this whole show.

No scifi, but a diverse cast and representation of LGBTQ+ characters
peter-p-scherr15 April 2023
The chasm between a show like Severance and this bland mess is huge. The characters are unlikeable, the story illogical and the scifi content non-existent. I've struggled through 5 episodes of this but I've had enough. I just don't care about this guy, his annoying wife, idiot brother in law and drunken brother.

The series has apparently "received positive reviews for its diverse cast and representation of LGBTQ+ characters, as well as its exploration of important topics such as sexual health and consent". That explains it.

So if you're interested in the relationship dynamics of some really awful people and don't like scifi, give this a go.

Starts Pretty Strongly Only To Falter Quickly
sumtim3s00n14 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
And the ending? Did the writers forget she told him the name Charlette?

The show had potential... The foundation, the ability to fix mistakes by going back. It could touch upon many exsistential questions about love, mistakes, ability to change etc... Yet it does not. It is one dimensional and forced drama.

What starts as a loving emphatetic couple the writers quickly change, his character , previously a ambitions but kind, warm and understanding individual becomes in a matter of 2 episodes a complete selfish creep while she became the personification of complaining, each sentence out of her mouth is a complaint or nagging. Relationship becomes completely unrealistic, constantly forced melodrama/conflicts, no effort to resolve anything.

Difficult to watch and not entertaining television. Melodrama for melodrama's sake.

Then theres the conclusion, which who knows what is about. She sort of makes amends/tells him she doesnt hate him anymore and then he says hes sorry anyway and "also hes sorry for Charlette". And cut to credits...

Huh? That is supposed to mean something special?!? A supposed Hint that he also went back to the same date?

Doesnt make any sense because when they first meet in the past she screams at him and TOLD HIM about Charlette so him knowing the name indicates NOTHING, it points at no twist.

Can the writers actually be THAT sloppy and forgot they incorporated her name in the beginning of the episode?

Meh... in any case just a subaverage show despite having potential.

UNIT
lydzblanchard10 February 2024
What about the unit who works so hard and none of the team is in the list of technical and production team.

I am really disappointed already of how a unit team is usually treated on a shoot while they work so hard for the comfort and good working for everyone!

No one is named here :

Mathew Pete unit manager Lydia Blanchard assistant U. M / truck Solene SET PA Roxanne Thivierge Asst Set PA William William Pouliot Edi And I forget some of the names that came for couple weeks I'm just to shock can't remember everybody but it's really disrespectful for the team that worked so hard in that show.

Great show
the_mikatu20 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What you need to understand about the bad reviews is that they only watched 1 or 2 episodes, they even say that.

This is a great show. At first we see a husband that let his marriage died without realizing it.

Being a control freak he finds a way to redo certain aspects of his life by traveling in time.

Now, that is why this series is so great. We get to discover that everybody around him is also having problems and they don't behave very correctly sometimes.

Well, he will try to always be in control and make changes and also help those around him.

Don't think that he is just a controlling husband like it is mentioned in the synapse, he is much more than that.

At a certain point I started disliking the wife for behaving like she does. There's so many layers to this story.

If you like time-travel then you will love this one. And please ignore the reviews of people who didn't even watch the show.

Depressing show
daniel_a_nolan3 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
They made Phil and his brother-in-law such reprehensible characters with virtually no redeeming qualities. In spite of excellent acting by the leads, it's hard to care about any of them, even Evelyn is merely pitiable. Not worth watching a show where you couldn't care less about anyone.

In spite of the "ground-hog day" (the film) nature of the show, Phil never seems to improve his behaviour, showing over and over again that all he cares about is himself.

I really wanted to like this show, but I never liked Patrick J. Adams all that much on Suits, (fun fact, my sister worked on that show in Toronto) In this show I despise his character Phil, just as Evelyn does. They don't do a good job of selling the fact that she has reasons to love him.

Fairly good, well above average
godsnames14 April 2023
The concept is very good even if there are some (serious) holes to be filled (like how did he pay for the service in the first place, how changing the past affect everything in the future, and so on). Apart from that, during its 6 part span, the story develops nicely, slowly but surly. The finale is well worth the wait and gives you a glimpse of what may come next.

The protagonist, Patric J. Adams, who made himself a household name with Suits, takes on a completely different character here, a much less amiable figure with a lot of dark shadows in him. That makes his Philip a more believable human being yet, obviously, less likeable. All the other actors are also fine in their roles with the female lead, Karine Vanasse, is outstanding. (Her character's brother, played by François Arnaud, and Philip's borther, acted by Joshua Close, are on spot here as well.)

The production value is up to date, the camerawork is strong and steady (no shaky home video-like BS here), the score and editing are all humble to the story.

All in all, this is a fairly good mini-series, well worth the watch.

Corporate Manipulation of Butterfly Effect
nightringer-7684019 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The idea is actually pretty decent, butalong the ways, they screwed it up with childish obsession, woke messages, unrealistic expectations and worse the ending was believed to be shocking but it turned out eroding any positive points this series has.

Casting is questionable at best, the main character was not convincingly portrayed an obsessive person, but excellent in portraying lawyer. The wife was sometimes charming, sometimes annoying, but her character left a bad taste. The drunk brother was the only one that was believable. The brother in law always appeared immature and lacking knowledge how a lawyer acts.

The only salvation Plan B has was actually the basic idea. If given another development period, the story would become better and more developed.

In short, it's bad writing throughout. I wondered how in the world this series got made.

Love this show 100% So original!!!!
plantains-817978 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show!!! Its like a 10***10++++ It's so creative and different.... I wish Phil would leave Evelyn and move on with his life, travel back in time to the night they met each other and un meet her if that makes sense. She is not that nice and every episode just proves Evelyn and her brother aren't a good match for Phil. They aren't making his life better only more difficult and stressful because who they are don't align with who Phil is. At first I was like Phil is such a good husband, which I still think he is, but as the episodes progress he's becoming more and more controlling because he won't accept that he and Evelyn are not compatible at all. They have different personalities and future/ work goals. Once Phil opens his ears and truly listens to Evelyn seeing her vision and what she wants for her life is not his vision what he wants for his life and if he really steps back and realizes the only reason their relationship is working is because he's going back changing everything then that's when he will discover the relationship is not even what it seems and she is not the woman for him not is he the man for her. Phil is caught up on a thought of what he wants life to be like with Evelyn instead of assessing and accepting how their life is in reality.

A must watch, but be prepared
ronlong31115 August 2023
I must admit, this show was tough to watch. Not because of the acting or premise, but because of my own past experiences.

The script and acting was so intense, I was immediately drawn in to the story and felt the experiences being played out on screen. I ended up breezing through the six available episodes and was left wanting more, but we never know in this era of streaming where shows are tossed at the first sign of adversity.

If you have a few hours to spare, watch this show and don't stop until you've finished it. You won't regret it when you've reached the end. Here's hoping the show is continued!

Once a control freak . . .
annebouscal11 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Much better drama than other reviews might suggest. Very clever concept. Although the series does include time travel, I wouldn't call it science fiction.

Like many people who grow up in dysfunctional families, Philip (Patrick J. Adams) is a perfectionist who is willing to invest inordinate amounts of time and energy to create the "perfect" life. As life unfolds in its messiness, he tries to control more and more things including his career, the woman he professes to love (Evelyn played by Karine Vanasse), his business partner, and the troubled relationships he has with his brother and mother, all the while baffled that his efforts aren't appreciated by others. He blames everyone else.

He repeatedly tries to repair the damage he has caused by creating even more "perfect" lives, thereby alienating Evelyn and destroying his relationships. In the final episode, when the unthinkable happens, it appears that he has finally learned his lesson by performing an unselfish act. Or not.

good lessons, really good acting, nice plot
snehagudi12 April 2023
I like the plot, its different from every other time travel thing out there. If u and i had a speed dial that could change your life what would you practically do with it. Save loved ones from getting hurt, do better to care for them win a lottery. And most importantly despite all the effort to put people don't change their nature. Its better to let them be some times then control every situation.

The acting from both the leads is just amazing as expected since they are well known. Never force anyone to do anything. I wish to see a bit more from these actors i hope the plot evolves into but more cheery.

It's a Sci-fi not a fantacy series.
kumarkrishna-0473814 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Plan B is an exceptional TV mini-series that explores the fascinating concept of time travel in a way that is both creative and thought-provoking. The show follows the story of an ambitious young lawyer who discovers the ability to travel through time in order to fix his relationships and create his ideal life. However, as he quickly learns, changing the past comes with unforeseen consequences.

The writing in Plan B is exceptional, with a complex and multi-layered storyline that keeps viewers guessing from start to finish. The show's use of time travel as a narrative device is both innovative and intriguing, and it provides the perfect backdrop for exploring themes of love, loss, and the human condition.

The cast of Plan B is also outstanding, with each member delivering a nuanced and powerful performance that brings their characters to life in a way that is both believable and emotionally resonant. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, and it adds an extra layer of depth and complexity to the already rich storytelling.

Visually, Plan B is a stunning achievement. The show's use of color and lighting is masterful, creating a world that is both surreal and captivating. The production design is also exceptional, with each detail carefully crafted to transport viewers to a different time and place.

Overall, Plan B is a must-watch TV mini-series that pushes the boundaries of what is possible with storytelling. Its innovative use of time travel, exceptional writing, outstanding cast, and stunning visuals make it a standout example of what can be achieved when talented creatives come together to create something truly special. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a thought-provoking and emotionally satisfying viewing experience.
