I bet you were dreaming day and night for a new Tony Hawk game, right? Well even if you were not dreaming, the franchise is making it's first full return since 2007! Tony Hawk is back, and details are slowly leaking out.
During Sony's keynote speech they brought out Tony Hawk. Since for some reason having a celebrity tell you about a product auto makes it cool. He came out to talk camera's, but they had one slight surprise left. Tony Hawk was coming to all new consoles sometime this year. Beyond that Tony Hawk wouldn't spill anymore beans other than the fact it indeed have Tony Hawk in it.
Then Mr. Hawk went on to talk to TMZ Sports where he revealed a tiny bit more info. It won't be exclusive, and will hit all "new consoles," well we assume Xbox One and PS4. He then went on to confirm...

It was starting to look like developer Robomodo couldn’t do anything right. After taking the reigns of the series from Neversoft, Robomodo have produced two of the worst games in Tony Hawk’s history, in the form of Tony Hawk: Ride and Tony Hawk: Shred. The new direction for the series was based on the idea that players would want to control their skater with a plastic skateboard peripheral,...

As Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD glistens on the gaming horizon, with the promise of revamping our favourite levels from the first two games, it’s a good time to take a look back at the best Tony Hawk games to date. We’ve rummaged through Tony’s back catalogue to bring you the Top 5 Tony Hawk Games.
With a total of 14 Tony Hawk games to choose from, spanning almost every console (including the Tapwave Zodiac, whatever that is) the Hawk-man has certainly proven his worthiness for a top 5. The success of the franchise undoubtedly came towards the beginning of the series’ timeline, which is inevitably where this list focuses. Since the series debuted in 1999, developers Neversoft have deliver a steady stream of skateboard-based gaming fun. That is until 2007, when they were moved over to work on the Guitar Hero series, leaving first-timers Robomodo to drive the Hawk franchise into the ground.

It's been a rough couple of years for the Tony Hawk game brand, with poor reviews and equally poor gamer response to the franchise. Not only was the series constantly in the position of trying to reinvent itself, but it also had to contend with EA's pretty well-received Skate games, which delivered unadulterated skating action. Do you remember the skateboard peripheral? Yeah, that was a thing for a minute.
Anyway, it looks like Activision is trying the old "going back to our roots" approach with this downloadable, HD take on levels from the 1999 classic, Tony Hawk Pro Skater and its follow-up, according to a post on Kotaku. That probably means less guest stars, fewer wacky scenarios, as developer Robomodo (Tony Hawk: Shred, Tony Hawk: Ride) takes another run at series for this 2012 release.

Die Hard Trilogy
Playstation/Sega Saturn/PC
Probe Entertainment
1996
One of the definitive early titles for the PS1, Die Hard Trilogy was a noble attempt to blend three different games together on one disk. While each of the games were rough around the edges, they were great fun, making it easy to ignore any shortcomings.
Die Hard was a third person shooter with McLane battling through each floor of the Nakatomi Plaza. Die Hard 2, a first person on-rails shooter, aping the style of games such as Virtua Cop and Time Crisis. Finally, Die Hard with a Vengeance was a timed arcade driving game.
It was also great due to its brilliantly dumb voice acting, with a Bruce Willis impersonator delivering such cracking lines as “What? No Turkey?” when picking up a health pack. The soundtrack was awesome too.
Why it deserves a remake: It’s three games in one…...

Tony Hawk didn't think critics gave his last game, "Tony Hawk: Ride," a "fair shake." This time around, presumably on the new game he's working on with Robomodo, he's getting an early start on promotion, perhaps even earlier that the game's marketing team at Activision would be prefer, because last night he tweeted the title "Tony Hawk: Shred" before anyone else could announce it.
"'Tony Hawk: Shred.' There, I said it. Actually, I named it. Somewhere a PR team is reeling," Hawk said on his Twitter account before later deleting the entry, according to McV.
It's not easy to tell real leaks from fake leaks these days, but Hawk ostensibly flaunted his maverick act of publicity while knowing that it might aggravate the folks who get paid for doing such things. It's hard to tell why he might want to do such a thing, but it's entirely...

So you purchased a skateboard controller for "Tony Hawk: Ride," realized it wasn't a very good game, and now you're sitting at home, wondering what to do with this worthless hunk of plastic. Well, good news! According to Twitter, Tony Hawk is collaborating with Robomodo, the developer of "Tony Hawk: Ride" on a new project! If they continue the trend from the first game, you'll now have two mediocre extreme sports games to enjoy with your hunk of plastic! Here's the post made by the Hawkman:
"Just met with @robomodo about our next project and it's already much better than I expected. Details soon. Chicago is not warm."
I especially love the bit about the project being "much better" than Tony Hawk expected. Despite his defensive comments about the poor reviews of "Tony Hawk: Ride," he's gotta know that it was a step in the wrong direction for the franchise,...

Tony Hawk tried something new this year with his annual skateboarding game. "Tony Hawk: Ride" introduced a physical skateboard controller, which you actually have to stand on and interact with in order to play the game. We found it, well, not fun, in our review of "Tony Hawk: Ride", and the sub-50 MetaCritic average seems to agree. Hawk, however, isn't convinced that his game isn't fun, and is willing to talk about why everyone seems to have it wrong.
Speaking to The Sudbury Star (the best source I'll have all day), Tony Hawk said this regarding all of the complaints that the board lacks sensitivity:
"I don't agree with people who say the board's not responsive. I think that [critics] just not giving it a fair shake. And I think a lot of them came into it with an attitude that it's going to suck."
While that may be true, based...
