Lochan Mor (#3.8)

Warning: Spoilers
This is a pretty good episode but a little bit below the usual Sons of Anarchy standards. I think maybe it was just a bit too long, I might have watched the uncut version. While a lot happened not enough has happened for a whole hour.

Maybe it is also a change of setting, although I did like to see them in Ireland. Good scenery.

The ending was the best part. More explained and also looks like Abel is about to be adopted. So this would add another twist to it.

While I enjoy the season I am really waiting for it to be over. I prefer to see Jax and Gemma as they usually are not as concerned father and grandmother, takes away a bit of their coolness.

Terrible "Oirish" accents!!
edwardryan3366 May 2014
I've just recently (2014) caught on to this series & am working my way through the box sets at a furious pace.

However, there's one thing really spoiling it for me at the moment and that's the awful fake Irish accents. You'd think if they were going to have a major storyline involving Irish people that they might actually employ Irish actors for the parts - there are plenty of them about! There's only one actual Irish actor in the whole thing & her accent stands out as the most realistic - because it is!

There's no way they can say these were the best actors for the job as none of them can act Irish!!

Anyway, rant over, it's been a great show so far (I'm up to season 3 episode 8) and I'm sure it'll stay that way.

Too soap operaish!
mm-399 November 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Too soap operaish! I found the series has progressed into a soap opera! Everyone is committing murder! Everyone including the police know the S O A's secrets. Too many story lines: Jax hates Clay etc. The past about the gang is being revealed. Gemma has secrets and problems. The gang in Belfast has a secret agenda etc. Sons of Anarchy is becoming a criminal version of The Young and the Restless. My question is how can they have the same gang in Ireland and ties to it? I am finding the show hard to watch! I give the episode Lochan Mor a four out of ten. I like the Sopranos better. The Sopranos knew how to mix the personal and action parts of the story lines better!

Continuity nightmare.
allan-doyle197313 November 2021
Not much to add, but the continuity between actors, locations, lighting, colour grading and the Irish accents just had me literally laughing out load on several occasions.

...my god, the accents.

This was how American's perceive the rest of the world, utterly cringeworthy. It's a shame because I love this series.

Season 3 went downhill fast...
djama-2483228 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Not sure what the excessive push for abortions is in the show for ..but it reflects the views of their liberal writers. They try to turn it into a sensitive part of the show but it just comes off as forced.

First Tara wants an abortion, then she helps Opies girlfriend to get an abortion. I'm sorry but this episode is starting to look like an advertisement for unplanned parenthood. Not to mention a Catholic priest would never help someone kill or kidnap a child. The moral lines in this show are starting to disappear and that is one of the things that made this show watchable. Jacks was a hero and now he is just a man whore every other episode. Disappointing
