The opening guitar of the song "Mere Aankhon Mein Ek" from Videsh was sampled from the opening guitar of the song "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry. Vannila Ice also did a another rap version of that song.
Indian pop singer Ajit Singh started his career in the 60's. His song's were a rage among the young westernized youth of India. Feroz Khan took the initiative to have Ajit Singh play a cameo in Apradh. Ajit is shown singing on stage with a guitar during Helen's entry scene. Ajit Singh was singing his original hit song " Don't Burn Me Babe" from his album Sand and Foam. The backing vocal's were by The Triple Alliance. Ajit Singh later appear's in the song "Ae Naujawan" wearing a Sombrero hat playing a guitar. The song "Don't Burn Me Babe" was later recreated by Sapan Jagmohan in the film Videsh, with vocals by Ajit Singh. They recorded a Hindi version titled "Come On Baby Dil Kisko Degi" and rerecorded "Don't Burn Me". The Osmonds' song "Crazy Horses" has a whinnying sound at the end of the verses. Sapan Jagmohan sampled this sound for both songs in Videsh. Ajit Singh would go on to compose the music of Purana Mandir, Meri Kahani, Akarshan etc.
The film was due for release in 1981 but was delayed till 1984.
Peter Gunn's theme was used in the title sequence.
