- Detective Elliot Stabler: Well, the worse Butler's injuries look to the jury, the more sympathy he's going to generate.
- Lionel Granger: A man is savagely maimed for life and you think I'm only concerned about how to work the angle.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Well, if it quacks like a duck.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: That son of a bitch. He really thinks he's got the upper hand.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Well, he just might after what Rebecca did. She has made a real mess for us.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: And for herself. The D.A's office wants me to charge her with First Degree Assault.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Alex, the only reason she was in that courtroom is because you and l begged her to press charges against Peter.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: It's not like you forced her to throw acid in his face.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Now I have to prosecute my own complaining witness. When that's done, I go back to Butler's case. Look how impartial the D.A.'s office is.
- Detective Olivia Benson: [to a perp who's been knowingly infecting his sexual partners with HIV] Men that hate women this much usually have mommy issues. Is that what happened to you? You punishing your mommy?
- [Butler lunges at Benson and claws at her through the cell bars]
- Peter Butler: You leave her out of this!
- Detective Olivia Benson: Guess that answers that question.
- Rebecca Ellison: [to Cabot] What do you want?
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: For you to take a plea. A six month sentence and probation.
- Rebecca Ellison: No. I want everyone to hear what that monster did to me.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Rebecca, if you get convicted, you could go away for 25 years. You are not well. Do not put yourself through the stress of a long trial.
- Rebecca Ellison: Even if I am convicted, Ms. Owens says that I'll be put in a hospital ward.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Where they will force you to take medication and you will have to serve out your full sentence in jail.
- Rebecca Ellison: Don't act so concerned. You're the reason I'm here. You used me to get to Peter.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: How does going to jail help you or the other women get justice? How does that punish Peter Butler?
- Rebecca Ellison: That bastard will spend the rest of his life thinking about me and all those other women he infected.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Do not let your hate lead you to make this wrong decision. Please, accept my offer.
- Rebecca Ellison: I don't want your offer. I want to tell the world what Peter did to me.
- Rebecca Ellison: [after Cabot shows Rebecca information on AIDS awareness in court] Why are you doing this to me?
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: To demonstrate that Peter Butler is not totally responsible for infecting you. You are responsible, too. You chose to sleep with him. You chose to have sex without a condom. You chose a risk. The same way you could have chosen to say no.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Rebecca, Peter's grandfather disinherited him. He gave all of his money to a trust fund to pay the medical expenses for the women that Peter infected. You will get care for the rest of your life.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: It's over, Rebecca.
- Rebecca Ellison: No, it's not. My rapist is still out there.
- Detective Olivia Benson: And we will never stop looking for him until you get justice.
- Captain Donald Cragen: Attempted murder?
- Detective Elliot Stabler: The way this guy was plowing through women, he might as well have been shooting a gun into a crowd.
- Captain Donald Cragen: We can't get him on rape, so we go after him for spreading HIV? Do we have proof he infected somebody?
- Detective Olivia Benson: He's positive, he's slept with hundreds of women, and he's bragging about riding bareback.
- Captain Donald Cragen: We want to encourage people to get tested, not arrest them.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: Butler brags about nailing a different piece of tail every night.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Captain, he's just like a rapist. He gets off on hurting women.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Only he's found a way to injure his victims without technically raping them.
- Peter Butler: I'm on AQ because I don't have time for dating. I'm a stockbroker.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: You really do enjoy screwing people.
- Dr. Melinda Warner: [to Olivia and Elliot] Even if we get the records, a lot of HlV testing is anonymous, so there are no names, only numbers.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: But at least we'll get an idea of how many women he might have given a death sentence to.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Melinda, you said it yourself. This guy could be a walking epidemic.
- Dr. Melinda Warner: To do this properly, I'll have to screen thousands of HlV samples.
- [Elliot and Olivia give her a look]
- Dr. Melinda Warner: Have Cabot get a court order for the names of potential infected partners.
- Detective Olivia Benson: I know where to start.
- Dr. Melinda Warner: There's still a stigma attached to HlV. A lot of people won't talk about it.
- Detective Olivia Benson: I'll bring reinforcements.
- Peter Butler: [to Olivia] You don't know anything about me.
- Detective Olivia Benson: Well, I know that you still live with your grandfather. Now what well-adjusted man does that?
- Peter Butler: My grandfather raised me. He's the only one who ever gave a damn about me.
- Detective Olivia Benson: So did Mommy abandon you? She beat you or just ignore you?
- [Peter spits on her]
- Detective Olivia Benson: You trying to infect me, too? You know what the sad thing is, Peter? Is no matter how many women you hurt, that anger is going to be inside of you until the day you die.
- Peter Butler: Yeah? Well, part of me is going to be inside those women until the day they die.
- Rebecca Ellison: [to Peter after spraying acid on him in court] Now you'll look like the monster you are!
- Dewey Butler: Excuse me, Miss Cabot. May I speak with you?
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Of course. What's wrong?
- Dewey Butler: What Rebecca did isn't her fault. Why are you prosecuting her?
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Mr. Butler, she seriously injured your grandson. I can't just ignore that.
- Dewey Butler: Then put me on the stand. I want to tell everyone what my grandson did to her.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: Oh, Mr. Butler, I'm sorry. I can't do that.
- Detective Olivia Benson: I can't say I'd blame the jury if they let Rebecca off.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: Well, she did stop Peter from infecting other women. Not that I agree with how she did it.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: But that's just it. If Rebecca goes free, it sends the message to other victims that it's okay to take the law into their own hands.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: Neighbors said they heard this girl screaming last night, please tell me she went quickly.
- Dr. Melinda Warner: No such luck, liver temp indicates she slowly bled out. Time of death is only about an hour ago.
- Detective Olivia Benson: [looks at the buildings surrounding the murder scene] So how many people heard her screams, and did nothing?
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: [about Henry Christensen murdering Anna McWilliams] How pathetic. She's dead, but he's the victim.
- Rebecca Ellison: [When it's revealed that Rebecca is HIV-positive] I am so sick of giving blood. I am sick of talking about this disease. I just want to go on with my life.
- A.D.A. Alexandra Cabot: I don't want to subpoena you to testify as a material witness, but having your blood analyzed can help save other women's lives. Lots of women's lives.
- Detective Elliot Stabler: Well, bright side, we may not need a trial. A mob of angry one-night stands will probably kill Butler before we can convict him
