- Through a magical geyser, the Great Wolf Pack are transported to whimsical worlds where they put to use the power of the pack to overcome various dilemmas that come their way.
- The film begins in the fictional forest called "Spirit Water Forest" as Wiley Wolf climbs to the top of Rustic Ridge. Upon reaching the top Wiley howls and starts a celebratory dance when a mountain goat named Bucky scares him with his bleat. Bucky asks Wiley if he thinks that Wiley is the first one to climb Rustic Ridge. Wiley tells Bucky that he's the first wolf to do so. Bucky then offers Wiley to climb with him and the other mountain goats. However, Wiley instantly rejects the offer to climb further with the mountain goats proclaiming to Bucky that he's a lone wolf. Bucky leaves as self-proclaimed "lone wolf" Wiley heads back into the forest. While skipping stones, a hot air balloon (along with a a raccoon and a squirrel dangling from the balloon both calling for help) being pursued by Violet Wolf flies out of control overhead. Wiley who's never seen anything like this catches up to Violet and asks what's going on. Violet explains to Wiley that Oliver Raccoon's hot air balloon blew away while Sammy Squirrel was on the balloon painting it and it's now out of control. Wiley tells Violet to leave it up to him Wiley then howls as he climbs up a cliff and jumps into the balloon. Wiley misses the rope and as he skydives to the ground he grabs ahold of a tree and catapults himself into the balloon. Sammy (despite the peril she's in) without any thought introduces herself to Wiley while still dangling from the balloon. Wiley tells Sammy that they should wait until they're down on the ground before they introduce themselves. Wiley then pulls Sammy and Oliver back in to the balloon. Oliver calls Wiley a "heroic wolf-guy" for his swift actions. While Wiley attempts to bring the balloon down he inadvertently launches himself out of the balloon and howls as plummets towards the ground. Meanwhile Brinley Bear watches them from within the forest. The rope immediately tightens around Wiley's ankles and he gets repeatedly pummeled into a number of trees before getting himself caught in a tree branch; and the rope wraps very tightly around Wiley's waist stopping the balloon.
With Violet's help, the two are able to pull the hot air balloon back down allowing Oliver and Sammy to get off. After introducing themselves, and having a laugh about the peril in which Oliver and Sammy were in; Wiley abruptly says goodbye to them and he promptly leaves leaving the group confused. With Violet (and more distantly, Brinley) in pursuit, of Wiley they quickly catch up to him. Violet says to Wiley that she has never seen another wolf around here before. To which Wiley explains that he and his family had just moved to Spirit Water Forest. Violet then asks Wiley if they can show him around since he's new to the place. Wiley instantly rejects Violet's offer and tells her that he's perfectly fine alone. Wiley then hops onto a fallen log to try to get away from the group. Violet not taking no for an answer, insists Wiley that the least the group could do is show him around because he saved Sammy and Oliver. Sammy butting into their conversation pops out from the log, and rudely pushes Wiley and Violet off the log while telling them that they should scamper. After they all run through the forest Wiley notices a giant wooden structure at the edge of the forest and he runs towards it. At the same time an eagle flies over head delighted with the surroundings.
Sammy Squirrel introduces Wiley to The Great Wolf Lodge and shows him around while acting absurdly childish as she describes to Wiley some of the things she personally enjoys doing at Great Wolf Lodge. After they walk past three of Sammy's siblings who are deliberately harassing a beaver who's trying to enjoy some quiet reading, Violet asks Wiley that they should get an inner tube and go on a relaxing float on the lazy river. However, Wiley who doesn't want to be around them anymore tells Violet that he rather go exploring alone. Oliver appears instantly in front of Wiley (scaring the daylight out him and causing Wiley to get into a fighting stance) and recommends that they should come exploring with him, since Oliver has maps and a compass so they don't get lost. Brinley finally approaches the group and asks if he can go exploring with them. Though Wiley is unsure with Brinley joining them, Violet insists for Brinley to come with them. Wiley now irritated with this begrudgingly allows them to join him, but tells them that they have to keep up with him proclaiming to be an expert explorer. Despite Oliver and Sammy's suggestions of visiting Dandelion Meadow, Babbling Brook, or the Great Sunny Spot, Wiley (in the form of an animated drawing) informs them that it isn't exploring if the locations are already known. Wiley who's ahead of everyone gets enthralled when he overhears Oliver's suggestion to seek out the Great Wolf Geyser, which is not on any map.
After an adventurous journey, through the forest the group ends up at the Great Sunny Spot. Sammy excitedly remarks that she should have brought her paints and paint the surroundings. Wiley immediately gets annoyed with not getting to find the geyser and he complains about it. Though Violet tries to cheer Wiley up and reassures him that they will find the geyser; Wiley (now fed up) throws a rant proclaiming that they'll never find the geyser if they keep getting sidetracked and that he further states that rather be a "lone wolf" and he doesn't want to be with a group at all. While Wiley continues to angrily rant in the background, Brinley sneaks away to a distant rock to find peace. As he rests on the rock he hears faint cries for help in the distance. When Brinley discovers that the voices are coming deep from a gorge; Brinley attempts to get the others' attentions, but only to be overshadowed from Wiley and Violet arguing. As Brinley still tries to get their attention he slips and falls down a rocky cliff into the gorge, he hits a number of sharp objects on the way down and lands unscathed in front of a cave, the cave's entrance is in the shape of a wolf head. After the others catch up with him, Sammy calls the group to a nearby secondary cave. Where they discover a lagoon, a myriad of symbols carved into large rocks, and an enormous wolf statue. When Oliver uncovers one of the symbols carved into a rock Sammy excitedly remarks that they "fiddley" found it. Wiley asks Sammy what did they find and Sammy excitedly remarks that they have discovered the "Great Wolf Geyser." Wiley then forgetting what he previously said (about wanting to go exploring alone) remarks that their the greatest explorers in Sprit Water Forest.
As Oliver remarks about why is geyser isn't erupting, they hear a voice informing them that the geyser hasn't done so in years. While trying to find the source of the voice, a jet of water from the lagoon shoots up into the cave swirls around everyone and transforms into a Water Fairy; the fairy introduces herself as Cascade and she taps them on their noses with a spoon while saying their names. Violet then asks Cascade how does she know their names, and Cascade informs her that because she is the messenger and helper fairy of the Great Wolf Spirit, she knows their names.
Hearing the same cry of help, Brinley once again urges the group to search for the source. Cascade explains to them that in times of trouble, the Great Wolf Spirit calls upon a noble pack to come to the forest's aid. Wiley immediately volunteers himself to look for the source of the sound, but Cascade informs him that it is up to the Great Wolf Spirit to decide. Another jet of water flies from the lagoon and swirls around Brinley, Cascade explains that the Spirit has chosen him to lead because of his bravery. A bracelet with a yellow gemstone instantly appears on his wrist; Cascade informs him that it is his wolf-stone and that it allows the geyser to guide him to where he is called.
The eyes on the wolf statue immediately glow and with a great howl, the geyser erupts water bursts into the air swirls around and creates a slide of water that goes flying into the caves entrance. Cascade tells the them that the geyser will bring the group to those in need of help. After Cascade reminds them that Brinley will need to lead since he's wearing the wolf-stone; Violet, Oliver, Sammy, and Brinley jump into the geyser except for Wiley. Wiley instead complains to Cascade that he should've received the wolf stone instead of Brinley as he also proclaims to be the bravest one. Refusing to listen to his complaints, Cascade pushes Wiley into the geyser and they're sent sliding through the forest and into the underground cave systems. Lighted symbols appear on the walls of the caves guiding them as the group travels through the tunnels. After being guided through a fork in the tunnels, Wiley in an act of arrogance, he defiantly forces his way towards the front of everyone. Declaring that he should be the one leading instead of Brinley, as everyone will become lost without him leading. Due to Wiley's insolent intentions, everything immediately goes dark and the symbols that previously guided their way disappear entirely. Thus causing the group to slide down the wrong tunnel; they land on a shallow sea bed in a different cave.
After, Violet chastises Wiley for his insolent actions, the others catch sight of four Glorps that begin to chase them. They try to outrun the Glorps but end up getting cornered. Violet tells the Glorps to back off as she threatens to attack them only for everyone to realize that she was only bluffing. Before the Glorps can attack, an otter appears suddenly and temporarily blinds the Glorps with his lantern. The otter sends them down another waterway to loose sight of the Glorps. After successfully evading the Glorps and the Glorp Leader, they land on another shallow sea bed in the bottom of another cave. The otter named Aloysius Otter introduces himself as "Wishes" since his electrical engineering professor said Aloysius Otter is too big for his name. Wishes then introduces them to Otter Cave, where he and the other otters work to maintain the forest's waterways. When Wishes asks the group why they were in a Glorp Tube and if they had a Wolf stone to guide them. Wiley nervously admits that he is the one responsible as he tried to lead even though Brinley had the wolf-stone. Wishes rightfully scolds Wiley for his ill fated behavior and tells him that the one wearing the wolf-stone is the leader no one else. Wishes then saves Sammy from a sudden blast of water caused by Sammy jumping on water squirting from a pipe below her. He tells her that the machines can be pretty dangerous as he designed and built them himself and they can be unpredictable. Oliver then remarks that The Great Wolf Sprit must have sent them to Otter Cave to learn more about the inventions Wishes has. Wishes explains that the Great Wolf Spirit send them down the waterways because someone is in trouble. He then decides to send them on their way, asking them to give his best regards to Cascade, and having Wiley promise to let Brinley lead. Wiley who's very disappointed by this ultimately agrees to let Brinley lead. Wishes then sends them off.
After they head down the right path they land in a new shallow sea bed where a group of frog creatures (called Froglins) are seen running from a group a large furry giants who are chasing them and wrecking their homes. Wiley jumps on one of the giants to try and settle him down, but the giant grabs Wiley roars in his face and repeatedly slams Wiley into the ground. As Violet tries the come up with a way to rescue Wiley, Sammy immediately takes it upon herself to create a distraction to save Wiley. She jumps onto a wheelbarrow demanding the giants to look at her and she puts on an unimpressive dance performance while encouraging the giants to dance with her. After flashing her tail at them and performing what Sammy calls "The Supersonic Squirrel Twirl" the giants collide heads with each other knocking them unconscious and they fall into a berry bush. Sammy then says to Wiley that she saved him this time. As she helps Wiley get back up to his feet, Wiley out of context tells Sammy that he owes her a sandwich for saving him. The giants Howe wake back up focusing their attention on Wiley and Sammy. They panic as the giants target Sammy and Wiley who start chasing them. One of the frog creatures calls Sammy and Wiley down into hole under a tree for safety where they see the rest of the group in the hole as well. The frog creature introduces himself as Ferdizann and states that he's the mayor of the Froglins. Another Froglin named Flutura says he's the undersecretary of the "subcommittee of all the froglins." After Violet introduces herself and the rest of the group to Ferdizann, Oliver remarks about the giants that are wrecking their village. Ferdizann explains that those creatures are called Borple Beasts and they built their community because they thought the Borples were peaceful, but after they settled down the Borples started destroying everything they have. Upon hearing this Oliver remarks that the Great Wolf Spirit must have sent them to the Froglins to rescue them from the Borple Beasts and Wiley decides that the best thing to do is they should get rid of the Borple Beasts once and for all. Brinley knowing that something is wrong stops Wiley from climbing out and tells him that the Froglins weren't voices he heard calling out for help. Wiley then deliberately and very arrogantly tells Brinley off for his comment, by talking down to him in a passive-aggressive tone. While smiling he insolently says to Brinley "Maybe you just don't remember right." After intentionally and deliberately rebuking Brinley. Wiley without hesitation quickly climbs out of the hole from where he came from, and Brinley sighs in despair from getting rebuked by Wiley.
As the Froglins pick the pieces of their destroyed homes the Froglins say that the berries called Reek Berries are their lifeblood and they can't get enough of them. They offer the berries to the group and Oliver decides to give the berries a try, but before he can taste them the repugnant odor from the berries causes the group to gag, freak out, and go crazy from the smell. Wiley completely loses his mind as he throws himself into a lake and starts flopping around like a fish. As they go crazy Ferdizann says the smell from the berries isn't the worst smell; only for Violet to grab Ferdizann and use him as a tissue. Ferdizann tells Violet he's the mayor as Wiley downs an urn of water and the water sprays from his nose like a fountain. Ferdizann disgusted by what Violet did, tells Violet off saying that it's inappropriate to insult the mayor by rubbing her nose on the mayor's belly. Violet apologizes to Ferdizann and cleans him up while saying that wolves have sensitive noses.
Oliver, Wiley, and Sammy seeing that the repugnant odor Reek Berries makes the Borples and the group go crazy devises a plan to build slingshots and use the reek berries as ammunition to use the Borple Beasts. Sammy excitedly remarks that she wants to build the slingshots as it reminds her of arts and crafts. (The one activity she described to Wiley that she personally enjoys the most at Great Wolf Lodge) Oliver asks Ferdizann if they can use the Reek Berries as ammunition and Ferdizann tells Oliver that they'll gather all the Reek Berries they have. Oliver, lastly remarks that he'll build masks to block out the repugnant odor of the Reek Berries. To which Sammy dumbs down Oliver's words so everyone can understand them better. Wiley remarks that it's the perfect plan and if everyone works together they can get rid of the Borple Beasts for good. All of this much to Brinley's dismay asks Violet if she heard the voice calling for help too. Violet knowing that something isn't right decides go with Brinley to find the right voice that was calling for help. A montage of the construction of the slingshots and traps unfolds as Sammy, Oliver, and Wiley help the Froglins build and train the Froglins how to use them as the Froglins play a country-farming style song on a homemade band.
Meanwhile Violet and Brinley approach the Borple traps and a Froglin tries to stop them, but Brinley and Violet assure the Froglin that everything will be fine. They approach the trap and see 3 Borple kids in the trap all of whom have worried looks about being trapped. Brinley says that they were the one's calling for help. Uloo the youngest Borple kid (the one Brinley heard calling for help) explains that The Borples have lived in the swamp long before the Froglins came along. Another Borple kid explains the reason why they have been freaking out is the repugnant odor from the Reek Berries makes them loose their minds.and the forget how to talk. Uloo then tells them that that because of the Reek Berries the Froglins thought that the Borples weren't nice but mean. Violet puts the pieces together and realizes that the Borples were only looking for their children but every time they entered the village the repugnant odor from the Reek Berries made them go crazy. So Brinley, Violet and the Froglin try desperately to open the trap and return the Borple kids back to their families.
Back in the Froglin village the group awaits for the Borples to return and before they know it they come back putting their battle plan into action. After climatic battle sequence the Froglins celebrate realizing they have successfully defeated the Borple Beasts. However, two of the Borples named Tranthor and Zahara run into the traps knocking the children Borples and Brinley into to a running river. Immediately coming out of their trance Tranthor says that's their children. Violet then explains to Wiley that the Borples were only looking for their children and they never wanted to destroy the Froglin village but the smell of the Reek Berries made them loose their minds. Tranthor seeing the oncoming waterfall tells Wiley and Violet to rescues their children. Violet then asks Wiley if he can rescue Brinley and Borple kids. But Wiley defiantly refuses and says he won't do it (but he drops his sack of Reek Berries) and he quickly has an epiphany as he rather wants to work alongside Violet. Violet immediately agrees to work with Wiley and the two of them and the Borples work together to save Brinley and their kids. Seeing an oncoming waterfall, Wiley takes a rope with a rock attached to it puts it into his slingshot and fires it. The rope flies through the trap and Violet grabs the other end of the rope with the rock. She hurls it at an oncoming tree branch. The trap starts plummeting down the waterfall but is stopped quickly by the rope. (With Wiley and Tranthor holding one end and Violet and Zahara wrapped around the tree branch with the other end. Wiley and Tranthor start pulling the trap up back up and Wiley says to Brinley that he just had to be brave like him.
Back on the ground the Borple kids are saved from the trap and Brinley congratulates Wiley for his heroic actions. Wiley instead of apologizing to Brinley for arrogantly rebuking him ends up telling Brinley that he would have never had to do what he did if he listened to Brinley in the first place and next time he would listen. Then in a quick attempt to make things right with him, Wiley tells Brinley to give him some "high paw" afterwards. As the group high paws each other; Ferdizann and all the Froglins apologize to the Borples for planting the Reek Berry bushes and they ultimately decide to move their entire village to somewhere else. However, Tranthor suggests that they can work together to rebuild the village and get to know each other more. Seeing a golden opportunity, Violet remarks that if everyone works together the village will be rebuilt in no time. Froglins, Borples, along with Wiley, Violet, Sammy, Brinley, and Oliver work together to rebuild everything. After rebuilding the Froglin village, Brinley's wolf-stone starts glowing again. Cascade returns to tell them that Great Wolf Spirit says they completed their mission and that it's time to head home. A Whirlpool appears in the pond that will transport them home. Violet tells Wiley that it's time for them to go home only for Wiley in a very sly manner tells Violet that he would go home only if Brinley leads them. They say goodbye to the Froglins and Borples and jump into a whirlpool in the lagoon. They travel through the waterways back to cave from where they came from. The eyes on the stone wolf statue glow again and they spring up from the geyser returning back to Spirit Water Forest. Upon returning home jets of water swirl around Wiley, Oliver, Violet and Sammy and they receive their wolf-stones. Cascade tells them that The Great Wolf Spirit proclaims that they are now to be called "The Great Wolf Pack". Oliver, Sammy, Brinley, and Violet celebrate that they're a pack now. As everyone else celebrates Wiley (despite everything that happened to him) begins to complain as he still declares himself to be a "lone wolf" and not be part of a pack. However, when Cascade confronts Wiley about his insolent complaining, Wiley instantly changes his mind to avoid the confrontation and he quickly joins pack and he decides not be a "lone wolf" anymore. He immediately makes himself to be the "leader of the pack" and he declares that they should all howl. After the five of them howl as wolves (since they're now an inseparable pack they have to howl) Brinley tells Cascade that Wishes has sent his best regards to her, which Cascade gets enthralled by this.
As the pack walks back to Great Wolf Lodge they relive the day's events and they decide that they should have more adventures. Wiley remarks that they better have more adventures and he howls. Sammy out of nowhere reminds Wiley that he still owes her a sandwich as Violet says that she wants to have more adventures. Oliver laughs about Violet rubbing her nose in the mayors abdomen and Sammy once again dumbs down Oliver's words for Violet to understand better. As they reach the land Great Wolf Lodge sits on Sammy excitedly remarks that she sees their families and they all run to meet them. (with Sammy running to her family and Oliver running to his "adoptive parents" who are red pandas and not raccoons) Violet then asks Wiley where are his parents and Wiley sees them sitting on a nearby table. Wiley's dad Walter seeing his son approaching stands up; he greets him and tells Wiley that they were starting to wonder where he went off to. His mom named Janice asks Wiley how did his first day in Spirit Water Forest go. Wiley just ignores his mom's question, as he says to his parents "I like you to meet my new friends and that they're a pack now." Wiley, Violet, Oliver, Sammy, and Brinley immediately start howling again as Walter and Janice simply smile at their son. The pack howls again as we pan away from them and look up towards the sunset sky to see the same eagle flying overhead. The Great Wolf Spirit lets out a mighty and loud howl drowning out the howling of the pack and the film ends.
The end credits start rolling while a heavily condensed version of the song "Better With You" also known as "The official theme song of The Great Wolf Pack" performed by Ezra Vines starts playing. After showing the names of the people who voiced the characters the "Great Wolf Entertainment" logo immediately followed by the film's title "The Great Wolf Pack A Call to Adventure" are both shown during the closing credits.
The closing credits and song instantly get interrupted with a scene where the Great Wolf Pack are resting in an inner tube on the lazy river. Oliver's wolf-stone starts glowing indicating that "The Great Wolf Spirit" is calling them for another adventure. Brinley tells them they should return to the Great Wolf Geyser and Sammy does a somersault as she enthusiastically remarks it's to for them to slide again; Wiley quickly taking charge as the "leader of the pack" says they've got this, as he jumps on the raft and howls to summon Cascade. Cascade flies out of the water and makes her presence known as appears next to Wiley frightening him. Wiley looses his balance and he falls into the water. Cascade just says "Oopsie" and she giggles devilishly in delight knowing that she got her comeuppance on Wiley for his insolent complaints and the film abruptly stops.
The closing credits instantly pick back up as a heavily condensed version of the song "Better Together" performed by Tami Neilson plays the rest of the end credits out. The "Great Wolf Entertainment" logo is shown once more at the end before before fading to black.
