This is probably the fluffiest article ever on Mumbrella.
Office dogs.
What, if anything, does having a pooch on the premises add to company culture? Does man’s best friend contribute to the creative process? Or do they, much like procurement types, tend to bark at people and shit on everything?
Like graffiti on office walls, a dog in the agency is one thing I’ve noticed a lot lately on my travels around adland. I wondered if lap dogs in hospital wards help the healing process, what role do they perform in an ad agency?
The first agency I noticed for its canine credentials was Spinach Advertising, an agency in Melbourne, a city where I’ve noticed plenty of dogs in agencies.
I was at Spinach’s office in St Kilda to catch up with their media director Ben Willee. After walking out of the lift, I was met first by a receptionist,...

Rajat Bharmecha who won rave reviews for himself for his performance as an abused son in Vikramaditya Motwane's Udaan will now get together with Naseeruddin Shah's younger son Vivaan for a buddy flick called Disco Valley that its makers describe as "Dil Chahta Hai meets Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara meets American Pie meets The Hangover". The film will have the usual 3-buddies-on-road-trip format. While Farhan, Hrithik and Abhay went to Spain, Rajat and Vivaan and their friend will be taking off to funky Fiji for a fun-filled fiesta. Oh, and didn't we tell you? Rajat and Vivaan's third collaborator in the Fijian fun-fest is a pig! After a task in which the teams set up and branded a new fast food restaurant, it’s time to find out what scores the teams have been awarded by Lord Sugar’s group of experts. After being marked out of 10 in four categories by each expert for: brand identity, customer experience, food quality and long-term viability, the responses were totted up and the results were as follows:
Logic averaged a mark of seven out of 10
Venture received an average of just four out of 10
Lord Sugar compliments Helen and Tom and reveals to them: “You’re in the final! You’ve done very well getting through to this stage. Go back to the house, have a good rest, and I’ll be in touch shortly.”
Turning to Venture, he tells them: “I guess you must be sitting there wondering what your fate is now that those two are in the final.

After a furious Lord Sugar delves deeper into Jim’s comments and discovers Venture’s lack of reinvestment, he fines them £100 before the results are revealed.

Lord Sugar brings it back to the numbers and reveals the results.
Venture sold €14,699 worth of products to the smaller retailers and €214,000 worth to La Redoute, in a boardroom record of €228,699

Doing his bit for the entrepreneurial agenda in Great Britain, Lord Sugar gives The Apprentices a salvage task tonight to prove to them (and to we aspiring binmen at home) that you can make money from any old (s)crap.
That’s right – Teams Venture and Tragic Logic were sent off to pick up commercial junk, cream off the valuable goods within and flog it on at a profit. While spending as little as possible on actually skipping rubbish that was leftover.
Helen Milligan, having had a successful run for five weeks on Team Venture gets sent to work with the losers on Team Logic. She’s not a happy bunny, but she dives in as Project Manager and makes the best of a bad lot. After all, she’s got Norn Iron Jim on her side.
