A very average start.

A vastly wealthy American family move to rural England, to a huge mansion called Canterville Chase, unaware that the house is haunted by resident Ghost, Sir Simon de Canterville.

I wondered why a BBC produced show ended up on Channel 5, and I kind of understand why, first episode down, and I'm a bit mixed, I can see that it's easy going family fun, I just think with the story, cast and setting, that it could have been a lot better.

I wish they'd used American actors in the lead roles, I'm a fan of both Lance and Catz, but those accents were horrible, and they did actually slip a few times. The standout here was Haydn Gwynne.

I'm not too sure about the accuracy, I don't think it was illegal for Catholics to worship in Tudor times, I may be wrong there.

Maybe it'll open up a bit, it wasn't the best first episode, 5/10.

I can't watch anymore

I love the story of the Canterville Ghost, so I was very excited to watch this. I can't believe I spent money on this show! The acting is terrible, and considering who the cast is, they should've been amazing. So I can only conclude that it's the fault of the director and writer. I can't tell you how many times I had to pause this to try to figure out what was going on. The editing is also quite atrocious. I literally cannot watch another episode of the show, that's how bad it is. Considering that Tony Head is the ghost, this should have been an amazing piece of work. I can't even say it was a disappointment, it was just amateurish.
