The James and Sam backstory had been alluded to since the first episode and we finally got an extended glimpse at it here. There were a lot of laughs in this one, but it did sort of drag its feet at times. I feel like this could have been accomplished in maybe 10 minutes and not the whole episode.
It seems like we saw James hit rock bottom and do something stupid of standing in the middle of the road. They went for a powerful moment, but as we know Sam did not hit her bottom here and this barely resonated with her. Not sure if that was the right move, because knowing what Sam did next, or did not do, really killed the power of these scenes.
