Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (TV Series)
1664: Love (1993)
Betty Aberlin: Lady Aberlin
Quotes
-
Lady Aberlin : Robert Troll, what is love?
Robert Troll : What is... love?
Lady Aberlin : That's what I'm wondering about.
Robert Troll : That's a tough one... what is love? Um, w-w-w-would it be, uh, uh, when you hug and kiss and everything?
[troll talk]
Robert Troll : Maybe?
Lady Aberlin : Well, not necessarily. Because, I love X the Owl but I don't hug and kiss him.
Robert Troll : Well, how about, um... maybe... maybe... when you get married? That's love, isn't it?
Lady Aberlin : I don't know. I mean, I love Uncle Friday and Aunt Sara but I won't be marrying them.
-
Lady Aberlin : I'm trying to find out what love is.
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : What love is? Well, you've come to the right place, toots.
Lady Aberlin : You know what love is?
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Sure, that's easy. I look into my mirror, and it's love.
Lady Aberlin : I'm serious, Lady Elaine.
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : So am I. You can't love anyone else if you don't love yourself.
-
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : You should talk with your Aunt Sara. She'll tell you all about it.
Lady Aberlin : Do you think so?
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : I know so. She and Friday are crazy about each other.
Lady Aberlin : Really?
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Of course they are. Don't you see how angry they can get once in a while, and how lovey they are too? That's all part of it.
-
Lady Aberlin : As the Museum Turns.
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Yes, and we're going to do a game show someday too.
Lady Aberlin : Oh, what are you going to call it?
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : WHEN the Museum Turns.
Lady Aberlin : That's the one I'd like to be in.
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Okay, you can be the chief turner.
Lady Aberlin : Oh Lady Elaine, I love you.
Lady Elaine Fairchilde : Me too, toots. See you.
-
Lady Aberlin : You know something?
X the Owl : What?
Lady Aberlin : I love you, X the Owl.
X the Owl : Well thanks, Lady A. That's the best thing I've heard all day.
Lady Aberlin : Somehow, I think it's the best thing I've said all day.
X the Owl : I sure do wish you happy flying.
Lady Aberlin : You too.
-
Lady Aberlin : What is love?
Queen Sara Saturday : My what an important question.
Lady Aberlin : I know it's an important question, and I can feel how important it is.
Queen Sara Saturday : What do you think love is, dear?
Lady Aberlin : Well, I used to think that if you loved someone, they always made you happy and never made you angry.
Queen Sara Saturday : Never made you angry?
Lady Aberlin : Well, almost never. And I thought that the more you loved someone, the less possible it would be to be angry at them.
Queen Sara Saturday : Did you know that Friday and I got angry at each other yesterday?
Lady Aberlin : I did know that, Aunt Sara.
Queen Sara Saturday : We weren't very happy about each other at the moment, were we? And yet, you know, anyone who has ever been loved is able to feel love.
Lady Aberlin : But how can you feel it if you don't understand it?
Queen Sara Saturday : I don't know. But I do know that I love Friday, and Tuesday, and you, and X, and Lady Elaine, and all.
Lady Aberlin : And we love you, too.
Queen Sara Saturday : But we all get angry sometimes.
Lady Aberlin : And we all get happy sometimes, and sad and everything, but the love doesn't go away.
Queen Sara Saturday : That's true, and that's one reason it's the most important thing in the world.
Lady Aberlin : But if you don't understand it, what do you do?
Queen Sara Saturday : Just go right on loving, whether I understand it or not.
Lady Aberlin : Oh, I do love you, Aunt Sara.
[leans over and kisses Queen Sara]
Queen Sara Saturday : And I trust that you know that I love you too, dear, and that's something we can always talk about.
