Do not see it
miszalip4 January 2011
Why do so many Polish films show the life in Poland in such obscene stupidity. The humour in this film is beyond banal and I would not recommend this to any one who has an active, fully functioning brain.

One of the main characters plays a cretin that somehow turns out to solve various tasks by being just that - a cretin. I do not know what message this shows to the kids. As Polish citizen who left the country at a young age it is such a shame that films such as these become mainstream and talked about amongst the Polish youth. They deserve so much more then this but unfortunately it is few and far between classic films.

I will not waste any more letters on such a terrible, terrible production.

one of the worst "comedies" ever... run away!
jakilcz17 October 2017
This movie is just horrible. Horrible in every possible way. The acting is bad, the directing is very bad. There is no real script. And probably worst of all - The jokes are not funny, most of them is just some stories from internet, that everybody already heard. Looks like director just went on the internet, browse through forums with jokes, chose 10 he liked and decided - i will do a great movie with it. And he did... (well maybe he missed a bit the great part).

And to give you the view, how bad this jokes are i will tell you the first one.

A guy is with a girl in bed. And he tells her, that he likes finger in his ass and can she do it for him, she does, and she finds something there. He tells her to take it out, it's a ring, and then she's asked if she'll marry him.

That's first scene of the movie. And then it keeps on going...

Don't waste your time.

a comedy about a group of siblings
brzostek23 June 2012
Ciacho is a comedy about a group of siblings that help each other. At no time do we actually take anything in this story serious. It is far too outlandish and absurd to think for a moment that any of this could actually happen. Ciacho is the type of film people watch for entertainment and to escape from reality for a couple of hours, but it isn't the kind of film everyone will enjoy.

The story is simple and stupid. Our heroine is a female cop named Basia (Marta Zmuda) who gets framed for a crime by someone very close to her. She has always been there to protect her brothers, but now that she is in trouble, they need to help her out. So Krzys (Marcin Bosak), Dawid (Tomasz Karolak) and Karolek (Pawel Malaszynski) go out and do all sorts of crazy stuff to track down who was behind framing their sister and freeing her. They aren't tough guys by any means, so any success they have has to do with good teamwork and dumb luck.

The relatively weak story is saved a bit by the acting. The siblings are played by young Polish actors with enough talent to make the story palatable to watch, but even they cannot save us from the ridiculousness of the story. Now obviously the story is supposed to be absurd, but parts of the outlandish elements practically border on being annoying.

There are a few scenes that are very funny, so as far as a being a comedy goes, at least it delivers some laughs. And quite unexpectedly, I have to say that Ciacho is probably just as much an action film as it is a comedy. The effects with all the action were great, but again it wasn't enough to elevate the film into something greater. Trying to copy a Hollywood style movie gets us just that and nothing more.

Banal Comedy
stewka924 November 2014
This film doesn't have a higher purpose than a simple, obvious comedy with a bit of action. If you are in a mood for a banal comedy – there is one ;)

This film is quite predicable but it will still make you laugh, unless you are looking for something intelligent with a deeper meaning. Then, this is definitely not the film you are looking for.

The action happens between the siblings and one of them seems to have very low intelligence which I guess is hard enough to act out (or maybe not). Anyway, the actions follows them when one of them gets into trouble and they literally do everything to help each other out.

Some effective film techniques have been used, to establish the feelings of the characters in a very cinematic way and to create an illusion of danger so we care about the characters more. I think the sound tracks used in this film go really well with the action and adds a lot of more humour.

Finally, there is no point criticising someone's work. It's always better to look for the good elements, as it will help us to understand this film was produced in the way it is.

A light watch, no harm with the right attitude
aleksandra-winnik22 September 2011
It's not a high-class film, something light and "silly", it won't do you harm when you feel like relaxing while looking at something that doesn't make you think too much. Several nice and refreshing characters played by actors more frequently seen in a very different roles (Pawel Malaszynski, Marieta Zukowska), at least following my experience with young Polish cinema.

The film will obviously not give you a clear portrait of Poland and the way that life goes there as it's simply designed to be a bit stupid and it is quite bearable when you don't expect too much.

It's not a masterpiece though and if you are looking for something representative for a Polish cinematography, it's better to give this one a miss.

Finally.
rood19748 May 2010
36 years old, from Poland. I know movies. I watch them everyday. I'm a fan of this whole moving pictures extravaganza. In this country "the movie business" has been... well, for the lack of a better word, crappy. We have some brilliant directors (few of them acknowledged internationally) and some not so brilliant directors (some of them acknowledged internationally). This flick is the first attempt to make something entertaining (in the best Hollywood sense) for a change. I could go on and on about how this is uneven and, for some parts, badly casted. How this is a rip off (of course). These are minor details. I haven't seen anything like this done by a Polish crew. Laughed my ass off during two or three scenes. Well done. Pretty well done.
