Mr. Jones opens the show with the introduction of the Fuqua Singers performing a scene from the recent Broadway musical, "Purlie". Richard and Willie, a rare black ventriloquist act, performs a humorous and light-hearted set for an audience of children. Musical guests include the group, "The Friends of Distinction", South African singer Letta Mbulu and jazz saxophonist Hank Crawford. Cleavon Little, a recent Tony Award winner from "Purlie", is interviewed by Mr. Jones, discussing his work and views of black theater. Mr. Little closes the interview with a reading of poetry from one of his most admired poets, Langston Hughes. Finally, Letta Mbulu returns with a song to close the episode.
