An average film featuring a few moments that induce laughter, though not Senna Hegde's finest work
appusnikhil22 August 2023
We all expect a good movie from a director who has done a good job with his first Malayalam movie but this was not good as Senna Hegde's 'Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam'. There were many fun moments and that was great but we the audience are expecting more from a director like Senna Hegde. This was an average one for me.

Chackochan had a good vibe throughout and Aparna was also fine but Madonna stole the show, she was adorable throughout. The story and screenplay were not that strong and in the end, the director somehow concluded it. Not a worthy ending at all. The movie started off well but didn't maintain that momentum as the story progressed.

Last but not least it will be great if Sajin Cherukayil (Jayan Chettan) is getting some good roles. He is getting typecast in roles like this and the audience already knows how that will end because he is continuously doing roles like that.

Romantic Comedy Drama
vishnutc-3955116 July 2023
I watched this movie in Cinipolis, Kochi.

It was very funny movie filled with nice comedy scenes Weak script but satisfied with well directed (good direction). Performance of all actors & actresses were up to their mark. Love you muthe song was super.

Decent background score by Jakes. Simple story film.

Weak script. Some comedy doenot work out.

The film is all about love , marriage, cheating in love ..

The film is a small & budjeted. The actors of the filim are very popular & experienced in the industry. So people definitely expect more from this filim. Better they do this filim with new faces.

It surely satifies family audiance...

The good and bad - it is too simple
m-ramanan16 September 2023
RATED 6/10 Language: Malayalam Source: Netflix

The beginning was ultimate and it was ROFL. But they failed miserably to carry that one till the end. The movie was too simple and waiting for some banging moment till the end. But ended with that simplicity in the end also.

There are some good funny and feel good moments in this movie. But that is not enough to carry the movie for 2 hours. Finally felt it was dragged.

The characters are bit interesting and the story also. There is a big lag in the middle portion. The movie starts to sparkle when Vincy starts appear in the end portion, but that also not satisfying.

This is one time decent watch.

A decent one-time watch for me.

Rameshan gets married to Smrithi. First Night: There's a power outage in the house, so they take a walk in the fields in the well moonlit-night, only to find out that Smrithi's lover pulled the fuse out. She apologizes for the whole thing and elopes with her boyfriend in a Premier Padmini (a car 90s kids in India would be familiar with) The townsfolk, in a mocking manner, rename Rameshan as Padmini Rameshan and he HATES it. All of this happens in the first 5 mins of the film.

I've not come across a 'quirky' story such as this before. Leave it to Mollywood to make a whole film out of a nothing-burger plot, and make it well! This film was very enjoyable in the first half. The acting and the choice of dialogues were well done, even had some LOL moments while commenting on a couple social issues here and there. Things quickly went downhill in the 2nd half, at least for me. I wish they'd thought it through. What should have been a fantastic film ended up being a okay-ish onetime watch.

Still enjoyable though, run it in the background if you have nothing else to watch and are looking for something relaxing.

Absolute Entertainer
jithinmgeorge-7157018 August 2023
The film is an absolutely entertaining. If you love comedy, this movie is for you. Comedy is excellent, direction is superb. Loved the movie.

A complete light hearted family entertainer.

The movie also highlights the pressure faced by women in marriage which is also an interesting topic.

Among the three leading ladies, Aparna is best for her performance than the other two and gets as much visibility as Kunchacko Boban.

Comedy is the major highlight of Padmini. Watch it for endless comedy scenes.

There are some refreshing scenes like the advertisement of the Rareeram mattress firm owned by Jayan that erupts huge laughter.

Can watch it again just for the laughter.

No ending!
qnbpharaoh20 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was a decent movie & I had no issues with it until it got to the ending. The annoying jealous man left the lawyer & she wasn't even cheating-he never found that out. But his possessiveness was a huge red flag. The mattress commercials in the middle of the movie was weird & I was confused. The man guy still didn't get his chance at happiness because his wife didn't go to court for them to get divorced. & he lost the new woman he fell in love with. What type of movie ending is that! Just because I got all worked up & wanted to see people happy & living their life & nothing happens in this movie I should rate it a 2! Got me up watching this movie for no reason!

Complex relationship dynamics wrapped up in light hearted rom-com.
sanjeev_madhavan14 August 2023
I enjoyed this movie. And while it has its many laugh out moments, it certainly has some deeper aspects that it tries to shed light on. What I found surprising is that the characters were so well drawn out and each character will hit differently for different people.

It is must watch for you adults looking to settle down and considering long term life changing decisions like marriages or falling in / getting out of a relationship.

Life is complex. Everyone's got baggage. Everyone's a bit immature and everyone's got their quirks. Life can seem a bit random, but we yearn for a more grandiose outcome. But with time and age we make sense of the choices we make.

Good one to Fast Forward after first 10 mins
JPEI6426 August 2023
Waste of time. Kunjachacko has gone seriously wrong with this one.

Movie could have been so much better. Even the humour is lopsided, warped and trite. Clichéd situations, mysoginistic (what's new), talentless lead actress who is half the age of the middle aged lead actor (but perfect hair, sarees and bleached face of course, is in place - Acting is optional).

Story goes for a toss after 10 mins or so. Rudderless direction with silly dialogues.

I would not even this is a one time watch.

Given this is a Malayalam movie, I can only imagine that such ridicous movies are few and far between, as the industry has some excellent talents, way better than any other regional cinemas in India. Otherwise God help the Malayalam movie industry.

Amazing script/comedy
yuvaraj-sarji5 September 2023
It's Brilliant writing and acting . Very subtle acting . Hats off to Malayalam for writing such scripts.

It's a must watch. Shows that you don't need big budget to make good movies . Not sure how come it's not rated high. I will recommend this live to everyone whom I know . There a reason why every character is there in the movie . Nothing is forced in the script for the sake of filling in time. No unwanted songs or fights in the movie . One of the best comedies that I have watched in recent times without any adult comedy. Need such simple movies where you can sit and watch with everyone in the family.

Well Made Comedy !!!
indianature22 August 2023
Padmini (Netflix orig. Malayalam w/Eng. Subs.) is a cleverly made comedy with plenty of hilarious moments and (un)intentional digs at various social issues :-)

Rameshan (Kunchacko Boban) is a well liked teacher at the local school. He marries the crafty Smriti (Vincy Aloshius) who on their wedding night, promptly elopes with her lover in his Padmini car. Ramesh now becomes a laughing stock with his friends and colleagues who tease him as "Padmini" !!! Eventually Ramesh goes to a marriage broker for a second chance. He is sent to meet a prospective bride, Advocate Sreedevi (Aparna Balamurali)but the two do not gel. Sreedevi reluctantly gets engaged to a successful local businessman Jayan. A new and pretty teacher Padmini joins the school. Ramesh and Padmini bond well and decide to wed. However when the families meet, they discover that Ramesh has forgotten to divorce his first wife. Padmini's uncle is firm that unless Ramesh is legally divorced, the alliance can not proceed.

Laugh and smile your way through the subtle and in your face humour of this film to find out how the narration plays out!

Padmini (the film) is yet another well crafted Malayalam comedy. The acting is great, the sets, cinematography etc. All very good. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

Highly recommended.
