- In 1954, the Siamese twin sisters Folkje and Tjitske de Vries are successfully separated. About a decade earlier, Albert Konrad Gemmeker was a real gentleman, but also the camp commander of Westerbork.
- In 1953, a Siamese twin is born in Friesland, a state in the Netherlands. Seven months later, while the national and international press follows the story, they are successfully separated. The son and wife of the family doctor who delivered the twin explain in detail how he did that. In a voice-over, the mother of the two girls talks about the whole experience and archive footage of the girls is shown. In the Second World War, Albert Konrad Gemmeker became the camp commander of Westerbork. The fact that during his reign approximately 80,000 Jews were brought to extermination camps notwithstanding, he was a kind gentleman who was even liked by some of the Jews in Westerbork! In order to try and understand this paradox, footage of Gemmeker that has never been shown on Dutch television is shown. Also, his former housekeeper and a researcher share their view on the man who didn't kick, but laughed Jews to Poland.—Marco van Hoof <k_luifje7@hotmail.com>
