Better than modern warfare 2!
meaning10031 March 2010
Firstly I would definitely say this game is better than Modern Warfare 2, simply because of almost everything, the excellent sound affects, the incredible graphics, the scale of the online maps and the satisfaction of destruction. Maybe it's true that it's story line is not quite as good as MW2's and as well as the fact that there's not a fantastic amount of variety in the missions, but it is still a lot of fun to blow a hole in a wall or bring a house down to eye level which never seems to get old! You will experience a few funny moments in the game which you wouldn't really have in MW2 which I like, but some aren't so keen on this. Now the multi-player, this is probably the best part of this game, as this game has been built on a foundation of pure online shooters. The fact that it feels like you're in an actual battlefield at times and not on you're sofa really is impressive, the settings of the maps and the sound of distant gunfire really is extraordinary. You have slightly more limited customisation options than you get on MW2 but I don't really see that as a problem, the ability to drive tanks or fly a helicopter really makes up for it. There are some issues with lag at times but this happens no more often than on COD and can normally be settled by switching your console off and on. This really is a fantastic game especially if you regularly play online, if your bored of MW2 and fancy a change then this is a very good alternative to settle your virtual warzone itch. So If you can't play this game online maybe wait until the price drops a bit, but otherwise, what are you waiting for!

some complications, but still amazing
bIeese7 April 2010
DICE's game Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is an intense modern warfare FPS shooter game that is mainly based on online play. Bad company 2 relies on vehicular game-play, massive sandbox multi-player and single-player maps and destruction.

Bad company 2 (and the first one) is powered by DICE's frostbite engine which allows for tactical destruction. In the first bad company a man could blow a hole in a wall, crumbling cover or making new paths. Bad company 2 makes its destruction even better, by making its destruction even smaller and larger. Multiple shots at a wall will make small chunks of the wall chip off, this is probably the most impressive new destruction system in the new bad company 2. You can also have the ability to take down whole buildings, unfortunately, each building collapses are not dynamic, and therefore the animation of the building collapsing is the exact same for every building for the same type.

The campaign of bad company 2 could use some improvement, instead of the sandbox style campaign in the first bad company DICE has chosen to make the campaign to be a one way campaign. Although this is good for a first time play it is severely lacking in replay novelty. The storyline also could use some improvement, the storyline is not original, so it may be a good storyline you may find it to be quite familiar. There is also a whole between bad company 1 and bad company 2 campaigns, this leaves some unanswered questions.

Multiplayer is quite balanced and is very entertaining. There are 4 kits which are quite customizable. the game-play is very entertaining, and you don't necessarily have to kill anyone else to get points, for example if your a medic, you can heal people, which will give you quite a lot o points, this really rewards teamwork. Bad company 2 relies on team work, which can be very frustrating if your team isn't playing the game seriously. also the range and realistic ballistics of this game assures for no "spraying" (shooting from the hip without aiming) as bullets do drop down due to gravity and people who "spray" will find themselves losing.

In conclusion bad company 2 is a refreshing, balanced and competitive game, it could use some improvement in the campaign and there are some small frustrations that can lead you to become very frustrated. Frustration aside this game is an amazing game that is a must buy for war FPS lovers,

Bad Company 2: Pro's and Con's
MattttC1 April 2010
Warning: Spoilers
First off ever since the release of Bad Company in 2008, I have been long awaiting Bad Company 2. I bought it the day it was released, and played it as soon as I got home. My first impressions were that it did actually exceed MW2, but that soon changed.

THE GOOD: Sound effects, were absolutely amazing, probably due the the fact Dolby helped out with the title. Best sound effects of any game to date. I even found myself shooting guns or blowing up barrels just to listen noise they make. But who cares about sound effects? If you have played this you will be that person.

Gameplay/controls, the general game-play is amazing also. The guns and player movement react how they would in real life. There is none of this super jump rubbish or cheap knife stabbing you may or may not see in MW2. The whole feel of the game is incredible, so good work to the makers on that.

Characters, one of the first games where the characters are not super serious. This is mainly because they all want to go home. Unlike in MW2 you'll find them joking around not really caring about whats happening. But as you can see this is in the 'GOOD' section, quite frankly because its very enjoyable. You'll find yourself smiling at the interesting dialog, which does tent to brighten up the cut scenes. The characters even complement you on kills. They have kept the same humor as Bad Company, but have tuned it to a more realistic level.

Weapon box, here is an excellent idea that i believe every war game should use. Throughout levels you will find a box which contains ALL the weapons you have discovered. This does kill the variety of weapons because you will generally find yourself using the same ones all the time. But its still a fairly good idea, or maybe just change.

Destruction, a new addition to the game is being able to destroy vertually anything. If you have enough firepower you can destroy practically every building in the game. You can ever hear buildings creaking and moving just before they crash to the ground. But in comparison to Red Faction: Guerilla, its not as good, solely because most of the time you don't have enough fire power to destroy a building, so most the time you wont bother.

THE BAD: Campaign, now the missions are fairly short, much shorter than Bad Company. And unlike Modern Warfare 2, the story and action is fairly boring. I found myself looking at the roof while the cut scenes were playing due to the fact you cant skip them, even when you've finished the campaign. Their is no 'cool' action like in MW2 but the story is well thought out, but really lacks excitement. Im MW2 you'll been seen saving hostages, sniping from a helicopter, and killing your enemy with a knife to the eye. The most you'll do in Bad Company 2 us uhh, cant think of anything, just shooting the Bad guys. Also the re-playability is poor, unlike MW2, once you have finished the game you will most likely not particularly want to play it again. There are no rewards for completing the campaign on 'hard' either.

Multiplayer, well for starters there is none. Well not for me anyway since I don't have live. So i cant comment on this, but it would be good if they had included an offline multi-player, which MW2 excels in.

Weapons/vehicles, there is a small, dare I say, boring range of guns. I find myself using the same weapons throughout the whole campaign. There are not as many vehicles are the previous Bad Company, and in BC2 campaign, you cant even fly a helicopter. Most the time your team mates are driving the vehicles for you. So yeah it lacks ab-it here also. But when you drive or fire the weapons, it does feel good.

Then why have I rated this 7/10? When clearly the bad out ways the good. But that is not true, the 'feel' of the game is incredible. You wont know what I'm talking about until you have played it. But it is that good, and enjoyable to play I would recommend this game to any war game player. Especially those who have enjoyed the previous Bad Company. It's not as good as Modern Warfare 2, but if the makers keep making games at this quality, Call of Duty better watch its back.

Great game! A few flaws, but totally fine.
pruttisman26 May 2011
I've played the original Bad Company. Even though I am a Halo-fan, I find myself enjoying a lot of other stuff, like for example BF:BC. Now, when I first bought this game, I was a little disappointed about the graphics. I mean, the graphics aren't bad, it's just that I honestly think they were better and more realistic in the first game. Still, Bad Company was totally awesome, and it would be really hard to beat that. I'm not sure, but I think I heard somewhere that they worked pretty hard on that game. Still, the quality of Bad Company 2 are just fine. In fact, they're better than most games. Now, even if you at times could have expected more on that front, there's a lot of great stuff about this game that can't be ignored. The campaign is good. It's exciting, well thought out, and maybe a little more variety here than in the first game. Some of the missions are kinda short, which isn't great, but it doesn't make the campaign bad. It's still great. I enjoy re-playing the campaign. I find the weapons and vehicles to be fun, but it seems like they could have had a little more weapons. Still, in the multiplayer, there are tons of guns and vehicles, a lot of it can't be used in the campaign. Now that sucks, that you can't use all weapons in the campaign, but it's not that big a deal. The multiplayer however, is amazing. It's tons of fun, and the maps are huge, just as in the first game. One thing that they've changed in this game is that you now get 50 points for killing a dude, while in the first game you only got 10. Now, it's the same value, of course, but when you get more points, it just feels funnier to play. Anyway the campaign is great, you can blow stuff up everywhere and killin' people is just so much fun. There's a lot of variety here too, you know in weapons, vehicles, tactics, and environment. Something I almost forgot was, the destruction. Lovin' it. You can blow up virtually anything. Houses, trees, towers, vehicles (ofcourse), bridges and other structures, they can all be destroyed. If you jump in a tank, you can probably just drive through most things, too. It's easy creating big craters in the ground as well.

Below are a list of pros and cons.

GOOD

Campaign: Funny characters, good story, exciting options etc.

Weapons and Vehicles. Nice variety, mostly in multiplayer, Realistic sounds.

Multiplayer: Very fun and life-like. Lots of weapons. It's easy to get some nice teamwork going.

Destruction: Stuff just blows up everywhere you go! (Not in an annoying way, just fun)

BAD

Graphics: They could be better at times., but it's nothing to bitch about.

Missions: Some of them are a little short.

To sum up: Awesome games. A few flaws, but really nothing to bitch about. You should definitely buy it. As long as you like fun.

It is not perfect, but it deserves a score of 10
pcprogamer-744963 June 2022
Battlefield bad company 2 is one of the best and most entertaining military shooters in history, the story of the game is beautiful and sometimes funny and full of interesting and paid characters. Also, the story is well narrated as a shooter and can go to the end. Keep yourself The gameplay and gunplay are not perfect, but they are extremely fun, the mission design is great and there is a lot of variety. Gunplay, although slower than other shooters, is extremely handy The variety of weapons is also good and shooting with each weapon has a special feeling The destructibility of the game is also very well done and it induces a sense of presence on the battlefield well The technical and artistic graphics are also at a good level and there is not much weakness in it.

The game's sound is great and it gives a good feeling of being on the battlefield The game soundtracks are also of good quality In general, battlefield bad company 2 is a masterpiece in the style of military shooters.

Realism
BrunoEsparza1 November 2023
The Heavy Metal mission, despite the tanks lacking FCS (Fire Control System), is a great example of using combined arms, including reconnaissance, artillery, and tanks, to secure the outskirts of a city.

Additionally, the Sangre Del Toro mission illustrates effective triangulation in communications and minefield breach opening procedure (with the game's limitation of turning back in 10 seconds or being shot due to map restrictions). This is achieved by navigating through an existing clearing that your forces are unaware of, but is restricted prior gaining the intel.

The lack of the prone stance, however, is a significant flaw in a game where we need more cover, especially considering that nearly everything is destructible.

It's worth noting that the game is more of an arcade experience than a simulation. Your companions are invulnerable, and in reality, a competent military operation would not involve inserting four individuals for these high-risk (or dare I say, crazy) missions. However, that's precisely what makes people enjoy the game and is part of its charm.

Loses to every Call of Duty game in a blowout
michaelhurley6197 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I have been a big Call of Duty fan since Modern Warfare one and am still enjoying the game with Black Ops, the greatest game of all time. I'd heard that Bad Company Two was a good game so I decided to give it a shot. Is this game bad? No, not at all, was it great, not even close. It is OK, I've tried every type of gamplay in the game and the only one that is good is the Sniper. This is one of the worst machine gun games I have ever played. It just isn't a good feeling. It is pretty cool how now we can drive stuff around and blow buildings up (Call of Duty's only bad part is no buildings blow up) but after a while it can get tiring because it is impossible to take cover because it blows up to easily. The feel of the game just wasn't very good. This game is decent, and is worth twenty dollars, but no more then that. If you want a good game go buy black ops or modern warfare 2.

multiplayer is amazing and fun
fh14712 January 2024
This is a review of the single player because the multiplayer is amazing.

I know it I have played it way too much as a kid but now I'm playing the single player because it's a kind of the only thing that's still alive. So you remember that like Cast of characters for the first game that has agency going out to do their own thing finding goals lay making plans just all around just a kind of funny goofball group.

They are back with no agency this time. They feel like they're mostly here because hey they're likeable and we have to put them in the sequel even if the stories were done in the first game and now it fills like most of their charismat has been **** out of their face I saw that they had a new writte for this game.

So maybe he didn't know how to write them correct. But the gameplay is better than the original and what I mean.

Is that it feels like the most okay shooter for this time when you shoot the enemies and that is about it.

No more big Maps you can go about and finish the objective for many angles now you play like a generic Call of Duty game and not one of the good ones.

The multiplayer is amazing and fun, but sadly I have inviting this review at a time.

Where it no longer exists on the console, so that's just about it.

Hope you have good memories about it because now we're just lived with a bad single player.

Sad Company 2
soulphonate1 April 2010
What was all the hype about? I was anticipating this games release for awhile. I heard it was going to be way better than CoD:MW2, which I was a fan of. I saw a goofy GameStop commercial and was thinking, the graphics look way better than that on the other commercials. When this game was released I picked up my reserved copy from GameStop. I went home and put it in my PS3. Right away I was kind of let down by the graphics. The reviews all said it was going to blow CoD:MW2 out of the water. What happened? Were all the game critics just hyping this game up for the sake of sales? Anyways, in single player the game is okay. I would say it's top 5 fps, but the online mode that everyone is going on about isn't much different than the old Battlefield 2. Back when Battlefield 2 came out, it was either Counter Strike: Source or Battlefield 2. Just like the whole CoD:MW2 vs. Battlefield: BC2 thing. I sided with Battlefield 2, because the online fighting was new. They haven't changed it much, and I have to say that some of the maps on the older Battlefields are better than the new Battlefield maps. Also, the graphics haven't changed much either. The lag kills on BC2, and sometimes accomplishments don't even load for about five to ten minutes into the game. I would also get disconnected a lot, which is frustrating when you are doing really well. I was always the medic, because that's my occupation in real life, so that was kind of neat, but when your accomplishments don't load for awhile, it gets kind of annoying trying to re earn everything. Also, sniper city. If the online play was tighter and the graphics more detailed, this would be able to compete with the arena style fighting CoD:MW2 brings to the table. You can't just rent this game because accomplishments take awhile to unlock, but the price is still a bit high. I'd wait to buy this when the price comes down.

Don't believe the hype...
evan_dow12 January 2024
I suppose a Battlefield Bad Company 3 is just around the corner well it should be because these are games people love to play with the first Battlefield Bad Company being a testament to that. But, and a big but, don't fall for the media sensationalism.

Okay so you can blow up a building but that should not be the only reason why you play. It is a lot similar to the first Battlefield Bad Company game when I talk gameplay but please you can be forgiven for writing this off as a sequel cash in.

I play for achievements and I found I completed the game in about a week on and off but the achievements, this game, appears to have glitches.

You can collect all of the weapons as collectables which you pick up as you play but the achievement unlocked before I had collected all of the weapons and you are left asking yourself, I don't deserve this?

There are parts when you can commandeer a tank or drive other vehicles vehicles are still included if you are that way inclined.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is a rather easy game even on the hardest difficulty so don't worry about losing your life and restarting over and over again. Well, I myself I will admit I am not a very skilled gamer but I could still unlock all of the offline achievements and complete the game.

It is 2024 so don't download the DLC (downloadable content) because well, you can't. Additional content had come at a high price most of it is based in Vietnam. But look, you can't pay and download it has been too long.

This game has co-op (cooperative) gaming all over it so play with a friend not just on Xbox Live but in the privacy of your home!

Pick it up today on Microsoft Xbox Live Game Pass or buy a hard copy off ebay.
