Discovering a whole new world
I've seen tons of movies and read many critics in IMDb, but this is the first time I find a film so touching that leads me to write an opinion about it. On start, "Rati" is a pun: it means "Tira" ("Shoots") written backwards; a funny name for cops, referred to their unofficial motto "shoot first, ask later". The title summaries the whole film, a journalistic documentary, well carried and with the director as protagonist. Piñeyro takes a journey through irregularities, lies and the horrific plot around the famous case of Fernando Carreras. Conclusions perfectly illustrate the reality of Argentina's police and the concept of "justice" that prevails in some state institutions, shown with both humor and indignation. Mixed with TV reports, interviews and real images of the trial, this piece of art constitutes a rarity: a political but objective film, mixed with breathtaking moments, where no artificial ingredients are needed since truth prevails by its own weight.
