The title of this episode refers to the idea invented by English theologian and philosopher, William of Ockham (1285-1349), that, in trying to understand something, eliminating unnecessary information is the quickest way to the truth or the best explanation and hence the simplest or most obvious explanation of several competing ones is the one that should be preferred until it is proven wrong.
