La malagueña et le torero (1905)

*** (out of 4)

This two-minute film from Alice Guy has a Malaguena and a bullfighter dancing. Yes, that's pretty much all there is as far as "plot" goes but this is still a fairly interesting and entertaining film from this period. The most interesting thing here is the hand tinted coloring, which actually adds quite a bit to the film. Not only does it give us a "color" movie but the quality of the coloring is actually top-notch. This hand tinted coloring is something that Guy was using quite a bit of during this period and there's no question that the work is so much better than what American audiences were seeing in their country's color films.
