Piercebridge is the site of an extensive Roman fort designed to protect a crossing of the river Tees. The Time Team are looking at the many anomalies in the area, such as why there appears to be three separate bridges across the river and the collection of precious objects discovered in the river itself.—glenchapman@ruraltel.net
