- "Desperate Housewives" - "Remember Paul?" - Sept. 26, 2010
We open with a flashback of Paul and Mary Alice and the Wisteria Lane gang at a backyard barbecue. We get another look at Mary Alice offing herself, Paul choking the neighbor, her sister framing him for murder, and Paul ending up in jail.
Years later Felicia Tilman was pulled over for speeding and when her hoax was found out she was put in jail and Paul was let out and received a big settlement check.
Paul heads back to the Lane, and as we learned last season he rented Susan's house. We see Mrs. McCluskey see him and drop her groceries.
The hospital administrator is told he has to tell the couple whose child may have been switched at birth.
McCluskey goes to spread the word and no one is home. She tells other neighbors to warn people.
Bree is trying to tell Gaby the bad news about Andrew and Carlos' mother. She confesses. Gaby freaks out. She's mad Bree told her and that Carlos will kill Andrew and will go to jail. So she's mad at Bree for sending Carlos to prison. Bree tries to apologize and explains about Orson leaving her. Gaby doesn't care she just doesn't know how to tell Carlos. McCluskey brings the Paul Young news.
Lynette tells the rest of the Scavos that she's done being the perfect mom and they can wash, clean, and shop. Renee Perry, a rich friend of Lynette's who is married to a Yankee calls to say she's coming to visit. The family springs into cleaning mode. McCluskey, Bree, and Gaby bring the Paul Young news.
Mike, Susan, and MJ arrive at their new apartment. MJ is worried their poor. Susan says it's not what they're used to but honestly money is tight and they'll save up and get their house back. The whole gang calls with the Paul Young news.
The ladies assemble and chatter and then Paul arrives and invites them in to tell them the story. They're amazed that Felicia's alive. He guilts them about not supporting him at his trial or visiting him in prison. They say in their defense they thought he was guilty and they all feel really bad and apologize. They ask why he wanted to come back. He said he missed his friends. They agree he's still creepy.
As they leave the hospital administrator eyes the quartet. Before he can say anything he's interrupted by Carlos. It's the Solis' he's come to visit. (Carlos has shaved his mustache!) He tells Carlos the news and they can't believe it. It's Juanita who might have been switched. He asks where the biological child is. The hospital guy hasn't found her yet. Carlos doesn't know how to tell Gaby since it will destroy her.
Lynette is stage managing her family to look perfect for Renee. She arrives in a stretch limo. She is fabulous and beautiful because she if Vanessa Williams. She has a super important phone conversation going and Lynette hangs up her phone. Renee oohs and aahs over the kids, the baby, and Tom. The baby spits up on her. Renee keeps buttering up Tom and he loves it. She calls the house adorable and cozy. She brags about her huge house. Lynette snarks at her, they call it old friends reconnecting. The boys are impressed by the fact that she gets to hang out with the Yankees. She calls her world a fantasy world and that this is the real world. She finagles an invitation to stay. She's excited about staying on the sleeper sofa.
Susan drops off the security deposit with Maxine who owns the building. Susan makes the mistake of saying that money is tight. Maxine invites her in. They talk money woes. Maxine says she was once struggling as well and so she started her own "business." She runs an Internet porn business: "Va-va-va-broom." It's women cleaning house and doing laundry and some men apparently get off on it. Susan is aghast until she sees how much the women make. Then she runs off as Maxine yells after her that she wouldn't make her do anything her own daughter doesn't do.
Carlos is looking through a photo album with Juanita. He tells her about her grandma who is in the album. Gaby overhears him say that his mom was the light of his life and thinks about her everyday and that's why they named her after his mom. Gaby tucks Juanita in and tells her she can't ride her bike to the mall. Juanita calls her mean. Gaby says she's just protecting her and if something happened to Juanita it would ruin her whole life. Carlos overhears this.
Orson finishes up moving out. Orson asks if she's okay. Checklist: divorce, lost business, wonders why she quit drinking. He feels badly but they both know it was over. He says she needs a project. She says this time she won't distract herself with busy work and instead will sit quietly and think about what she's going to do with her life. He says he knows whatever it is, it will be spectacular. They hold hands for a moment and he says goodbye. She sits quietly and cries. She then walks over to her family photos and stares at them in turn: Andrew, Orson, the family, her wedding photo with Rex. She notices some wallpaper coming off the wall and it stubbornly won't go back so she rips it off. It's satisfying so she rips down the wallpaper in the whole house. When Orson calls to check up on her she says she took his advice.
Paul goes to visit Felicia in prison. She got 18 months with good behavior. She threatens him. He tells her they record all conversations and when she says he killed her sister he calls it groundless and taunts her that he's going to go walk around in the open and shop. When he hangs up, he confirms that he did.
Susan is trying to sell her "wearable art" to the girls. They take pity on her and buy some of the awful stuff. Lynette introduces Renee. They trade barbs again and the girls think it's weird and discomforting. Renee goes one toke over the line though when she criticizes the way Lynette "ended up." They begin to really fight about their different choices in life. Lynette calls Renee a gold digger. Renee says the Lynette she know would never be happy with this boring life: in college she backpacked through Croatia, jumped onstage at a Springsteen concert, and had a threesome with two Rugby players. Tom hears this last part and drops his briefcase.
Later she decompresses with Tom, wondering why Renee came all the way to Fairview to dump on her. Tom is still stuck on the rugby player thing. She tries to get him to focus and that Renee doesn't get to be disappointed in Lynette's life. Lynette goes to talk to her about it. She does this by giving her the Yellow Pages to find a hotel and she tells Renee she wins. Renee opens up and admits that Doug is leaving her and is cheating on her with his agent's assistant. She just ran away from the situation and came right to Lynette. She's a wreck. Lynette tells her she can stay as long as she wants. Renee offers to show her appreciation by buying Lynette her first facelift.
Carlos shows up at the hospital and tells the administrator that he's either suing the hospital to bankruptcy or this guy makes the whole thing go away and that Gaby never finds out. He tells hospital guy that he can't tell Gaby. And then Gaby tells Bree she can't ruin Carlos' happiness by telling him about Andrew and his mother. Right now life is perfect and she won't let anything change that.
Susan arrives home and finds out that they've got yet another problem, the bank turned down Mike's loan application so he can't hire any people and they'll never save enough money to get back to their house. Mike says he's thinking about going to Alaska to work on an oil rig for six months or a year. She says she thinks her "jewelry" thing might work out and asks him to give her a month to make some cash. She goes to Maxine and signs up to do "Va-va-broom."
Bree has hired a contractor to take a look at the house and talk design. He thinks she could do something "bold" with the colors in the room. She's not so sure about his idea for "scarlet red." Orson arrives with the "final division of assets" for Bree to sign. She mentions Andrew wants to have him over for dinner and they all hope that he still feels part of the family. Then his physical therapist lets slip that they're dating. Bree is appalled. He points out they were separated and at their age they can't let happiness pass them by. She comes back in and the contractor tells her he's got a great color for her living, room one that will make her look superhot. She turns her eyes on him and, and since he's hot, gets some interesting ideas.
Lee comes to visit Paul who lets him know that he wants to buy his old house back. He's got a "plan." One he's been working on for ten years in prison.
Felicia tells her new cellmate that Paul Young will be dead within six months because he doesn't have friends on Wisteria Lane and she does.
