- "Suicide Notes" is a modestly produced independent film which tells the story of down and out Julian Parker who has written a stage play in which the lead character commits suicide.
Enter the oddball creative team of money grubber producer, Marla French and nutty director Dan Paulson, audaciously played by Sopranos vet Lou Martini, Jr. Dan Paulson is a nudist.
This tandem decides to mount Parkers off beat drama ---- but with just one small catch. They are going to cast three legitimately suicidal actors who will actually shoot themselves on stage. Flat broke, Parker has no choice but to sell them the rights to his play.
The show opens for its weekend run. After one on-stage shooting, the play is a hit and booked for more shows. After two live suicides, the show is an outright phenomenon securing a big time cable deal and an exit for Dan and Marla.
With momentum building, the show moves on to the performance that features Neil, the last of our original and depressed thespians, and the films most sympathetic character. Will he shoot himself? Will he be stopped? One thing is for sure the audience demands (and paid for) a Suicide!
Suicide Notes is part black comedy, part satire and all too real. This engaging and thought provoking film follows playwright Parker as he struggles with this moral dilemma, as well as focusing on the eccentric lives of the three doomed actors who literally plan to go out with a bang for one misguided reason or another.
According to the film's director, Travis Ammons, Suicide Notes clearly explores where modern media and Reality TV are cynically taking us.
