Calling It a Comedy Doesn't Make It Funny
Bud Duncan steals some money from his unconscious wife. He then flirts with another man's wife. The man turns out to be the barber who's shaving him. Bud is worried that the barber will cut his throat. Unfortunately, he doesn't.
Bud Duncan worked for more than thirty years in movie comedy without, so far as I've been able to tell, being funny. His character at this stage was a small, obnoxious man. In this one, the humor is supposed to be enhanced by undercranking the camera so that everything happens very fast. That doesn't work.
People seeing Billy Gilbert in the credits may look for the fat comic best remembered as a foil for Laurel and Hardy in their sound shorts. This Billy Gilbert was a different comic who mostly worked for Mack Sennett.
