Nick or Clark? Clark or Nick? Who will be crowned our 14th and penultimate "American Idol" winner? And why must it take 126 minutes to find out? When "American Idol" was a colossus straddling the TV landscape, this sort of bloated spectacle wasn't just justified, it was practically necessary for Fox. Milk every blessed second out of "American Idol"! But Tuesday night's performance finale lost to "Undateable" in the 18-49 demo. That's a bit sad. Undateable is a “classic throwback sitcom, it cracks me the frick up,” executive producer Bill Lawrence told reporters at NBC Press Day. Though the show is about a bunch of mostly young single guys, it does not push any content envelope, Lawrence said. “One of the things I’m really proud of is, it’s laugh out loud funny without being crass. This feels reminiscent of the shows I grew up loving, like Cheers. I didn’t try to push the envelope too much…If you’re a on a network its hard to compete with shows like Louie or Veep that have no language standards, or nudity standards, or content standards,” he said. Lawrence said he set out to do a multi-camera comedy because it’s “where the networks can compete with cable. I enjoy watching Veep, and Silicon Valley is funny as balls — check it out,” he said.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the first announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on NBC.
The Peacock did not have a good year. Only one of its new shows, "Revolution," was a true hit. Another, "Chicago Fire," got renewed by the skin of its teeth whilst the fate of a third, "Hannibal," remains uncertain.
None of last year's new comedies survived, neither did two mid-season dramas, which leaves the network with some big holes to fill. Three dramas and three comedies will debut in the Fall ahead of three more dramas and two comedies mid-season. Two further dramas and a comedy are presently unscheduled.
Several other pilots didn't make the final cut and won't become series including the high-profile Charlize Theron-produced drama about the Hatfields and McCoys, the Bruckheimer-produced...

Update 2:15 p.m. Et: NBC has also ordered a spinoff of its freshman series "Chicago Fire" called "Chicago P.D." The new show will focus on uniformed officers and detectives in a Chicago precinct and star Jon Seda and Jason Beghe, both of whom have appeared in several "Chicago Fire" episodes this season.
NBC is not done picking up new series for next season. The network has added another drama and comedy to the six new shows it had previously ordered.
The latest drama pickup is "Ironside," a remake of the 1960s-70s series about a detective who is paralyzed on the job but continues working. It stars Blair Underwood ("The Event," "In Treatment") in the title role. (Raymond Burr starred in the original.)
The remake also stars Brent Sexton ("The Killing"), Spencer Grammer ("Greek"), Kenneth Choi ("Sons of Anarchy") and Neal Bledsoe ("Smash"). Michael Caleo ("Rescue Me," "The Sopranos") is the creator.

Exclusive: NBC is making a casting change on Undateable, its multicamera comedy pilot from Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros TV. Aly Michalka has departed the project, which is taping Thursday. I hear she will be replaced with Briga Heelan, who last month was cast as the female lead of another Bill Lawrence/Warner Bros TV multi-camera comedy pilot, TBS’ Ground Floor. Because of her relationship with the producers, Heelan has been able to quickly step into Undateable, in which she is being cast as a guest star because of her existing commitment to Ground Floor.
