Men and Their Camping
A Camp Smithy (1899)
This U.K. film from R.W. Paul is a pretty simple and straight one but I must admit that I enjoyed it. The camera stays in place as we overlook a camp where some men are on horses, others are cooking and we see what they're doing for the 90 second running time. Granted, I think most people are going to watch this and not see anything overly special. Sure, it's nothing ground-breaking but I love camping so perhaps that's why this one struck me as being entertaining. I'm sorry but show me a camping show and I'm hooked. There's no question that this is about as simple as they come and there's nothing technically impressive here but it was good enough to keep a smile on my face.
