This is a 10 year old running the store and how problems look from this point of view. Eventually the real Mayor steps in to save the day. These shows were filmed in 2 days each. 6 days a week. Butch (David Saber) was in all the episodes, and 3 hours a day in school on the set. It always amazed me that Thomas Mitchell never looked at a script until his cab ride to the studio that morning. Kathleen Freeman (Marilly) was much funnier than the part she played. When 16 year old Natalie Wood was the guest star of one episode I was in love at first sight. But, what more can a ten year old do. We never filmed off this one very small sound stage which had 3 sets. Once we did go out to the front street for a shot then back to the set. Except for that one day we never saw the light of day, for month after month. It was an unbelievable grind on a 10 year old.
