They should have ended it in 1 season
kushagrat13 February 2022
It's stretched too much. They only try to make money by keeping number of seasons! It could have been great but it becomes boating after a point.

Just a casual watch, nothing is great about this.

Unnecessarily pulled into a S2
Biswas_7 February 2022
This series belongs to two people in my opinion- Raghubir Yadav's Mohan Kumar and the guy who plays Eketi, a tribal guy from the Andamans. The kind of patience Eketi has in him in his quest to find their stolen deity Ingatayi is terrific to watch. You never see him breaking down even in hopeless situations which shows the powerful control he has over his emotions. Raghubir's character on the other hand is a hilarious fest. His split personality disorder making him change to Gandhiji like man and then changing back again to the angry barking Mohan Kumar is ridiculously funny to witness.

However, this series is extremely lengthy thanks to how the whodunit thriller is presented. Based on the book "6 suspects", this series has 9 eps , of which nearly 6 episodes completely dedicated to the backstory of each suspect and how they all reached the party of Vicky where he was assassinated .

Each back story has even more sub plots which further lengthen the series and at the end becomes really tough for us to keep track of the events so much so that many things may appear confusing towards the end.

Good thing is, it never bored me. The BGM and events happening kept me hooked to this series but ya definitely it did tire me a lot. Good attention has been put to details everywhere which is why the series is so long.

Too many twists and turns are not good, few smart ones are always good. This series does exactly the former. Not only are there many twists, but also none of them are smart ones. Still it is decent enough to make it somewhat interesting. The final twist at the end was unnecessary or maybe the book is like that only. Still I feel that we can predict the killer cuz few characters 's angles were not thoroughly explored.

As I said, raghubir and that Eketi guy are the best ones for me. Pratik has this shady character which you will figure out later. Actually, every single character in this series is kinda shady and Pratik's Suraj is one of them. Rest all have done a decent job.

Overall, take a good time in hand to watch this series and make sure you don't miss out on the tiny events that occur else everything would look vague to you later.

Wish I have not watched it.
kainatrc12 February 2022
When the series started it was not so engaging but slowly it started to entertain you with its suspence content. Various character started pouring in and there are of course many nail biting moments...but towards the end of episode 6 and also in the next 3 episodes things were messy...May be season 2 would compensate the loopholes of season 1. Season1 was little disappointing...but yes waiting for season 2.

A very different take to murder mysteries than what we have already seen.
badlydrawnboy153 August 2022
One murder shot from a lot of angles. Show left in a cliffhanger. Builds up for a brilliant second season. Tigmanshu Dhulia has managed to tear apart and sew back a brilliant first season to the show. Brilliant performances from all the actors although Pratik Gandhi's character is playing a North Indian guy but still has a Gujarati accent to his part. It was like Harshad Mehta became a cbi officer after reincarnation. Otherwise all other characters did a great job specially Raghubir Yadav and Richa Chadda. One character which surprised me to another level is Vicky Rai by Jatin Goswami. Jatin gets under the skin of the character and does a fabulous job.

To many subplots, lengthy episodes with a lame ending !!
sanjubhat7 February 2022
Web series review : The Great Indian murder streaming on Disney+ Hotstar #sanjuzzreviews #TheGreatIndianMurder

Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and adapted from Vikas Swarup's novel "Six suspects", The Great Indian Murder is a misadventure of sorts.

A maniacal scion of a politician is murdered at a party hosted by him to celebrate his acquittal in a case case involving the rape and murder of 2 underage girls. The series identifies 6 suspects who might be the perpetrators of the crime.

Pros : Casting is bang on. Pratik Gandhi, Richa Chaddha, Ashutosh Rana,Paoli Dam, Ameya Wagh and Raghubir Yadav ( the best among the lot) have done a fabulous job. Well directed too .. doesn't look like a cheap web series.

Cons: The novel from which it has been adapted has a convoluted plot & too many lengthy sub plots involving the suspects which lead the viewers astray . I had read the novel way back in 2015 and did not find it great either. So, in a nutshell the novel from where the script has been derived from, is a big letdown. Also long episodes of around 50 mins each are tiresome as the series trudges to a lame climax.

Pls go ahead and watch it.... If you do not have any other good options, that is 🙂

2/5 from me for this one .. adios 🙂

Too tedious
spockykirk4 February 2022
The overall product is fine, but too slow paced I understand the need for the director to build the characters, but it has hampered the pace and at most times is a tedious watch.

Binge watch!
ababrak4 February 2022
The director has a done a stellar job with both the writing and directing. He has done justice with all the cast members and made this a binge watch! Tigmanshu Dhulia brings yet another gem. Complemented with rich cinematography and music, it's a must watch, very well adapted from the book Six Suspects!

aman-notall4 February 2022
If youve got time on your hands you can watch this. Editing is not out of this world. Casting is very good. Raghuveer yadav is good. Richa chadda looks more than chubby. That CBI officer disappoints. Overall 6 out of 10. Seems they tried something keeping patal lok in mind.

Such an annoying ending and boring series.

Complete waste of time and good actors.

I haven't watch a worse series than this.

I regret wasting my time on this series. Save your time... Watch something else.

One word.. Junk.

Greatest Indian Webseries
ayushsri-244154 February 2022
The show projects the politics and the corruption behind a high profile case. Every character played their role brilliantly, specially Pratik Gandhi. He was on fire, the way he walks, the dialogue delivery was brilliant.

Engaging albeit a bit amateurish in its execution.
Amyth4723 February 2022
My Rating : 7/10

A lot of polarising viewpoints on this web series, some have enjoyed it while others have hated its slow paced and confused storytelling. I enjoyed it for the most part, mainly because of the choice of the actors.

The storyline is good, the execution is a bit off at times and feels a bit non-sensical and only there to fill up the time.

Overall, it's engaging enough to watch and would like to see the second part be more tight and hopefully ends on a high note.

Most pathetic and boring webseries
bhutadasanket5 February 2022
The story is boring but the worst is the characters especially Richa Chada's cringeworthy acting. There are many better actors who could've done a much better job. The final twist in the story is a bit good but very badly executed.

Wish I didn't waste my weekend watching this. So watch only if you have too much time to waste. Otherwise better skip.

Mind blowing 😎
tanusingla-765204 February 2022
This was a great show to watch. It keeps you hooked till the end because when you thought the culprit is caught there is this amazing twist and turns. Totally loved it . Although I started watching it because of Pratik Gandhi and as always he nailed it but he should have been given more screen time.

A Very Slow Mystery
bkvora10 February 2022
The only reason I started watching this Series is because of Pratik Gandhi.

However this is a very slow story with entire Episodes on Suspects that became very boring. The Web Series is a Murder Mystery but I would not categorize it as a Thriller. The only people who acted well were Raghuvir Yadav, Pratik Gandhi & Ekati(whoever he was). A little disappointed that Pratik Gandhi did not have enough to do here. If you are expecting 1992 Scam like performance then forget it. You cannot blame him because that was the Story. Rich Chadha was terrible. She did not even come across like a Police Officer.

You can definitely give this Web Series a miss.

Entertaining
neetabora21 February 2022
Acting, dialogues, story, direction and connecting with characters is 100%. Suspense is really too good. Every minute is entertaining. Politics, corruption, immorality & innocents - very nicely shown. Everyone inacted as per their characters.

What a cast! Director is super!
vishalsaxen4 February 2022
The series has a stellar cast and the adaptation from the book is brilliant. I read the book few years ago, even though there are some new characters in the series which are not in the book, the essence of the book has been maintained.

It's a collection of short stories more than a murder mystery.
Perspicuity111 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The Great Indian Mess would be an apt title for this show. I started watching this show without any real expectations but was hooked after the first episode, which I found extremely engaging. The problem began in a small way with the second episode, when the series decided to proceed with every episode focusing on one particular character. This was supposed to be a murder mystery, but because of this decision it started looking like a drama show with a new story in every episode. In my opinion, the show lost focus after the first two episodes. The show began very well as a political thriller, but soon diversified into a hundred other things.

In a murder mystery, it's normal to have multiple suspects because it keeps the viewers guessing, but all of them must have a valid reason or motive to commit the crime, there must be something for them to gain out of it. It's also normal to have misdirection as long as it makes the show interesting. Unfortunately this show fails in doing that and the murder mystery gets lost amid the multiple sub plots that get explored during the show. The series starts as the murder mystery of Vicky Rai but ultimately becomes a collection of short stories that could have been told separately as well.

Having multiple threads in a series works when everything is tied neatly to the main plot, but in The Great Indian Murder multiple characters and their storyline wander around pointlessly before coming back to the central plot. For example, the whole track of Mohan Kumar suffering from a multiple personality disorder is pretty much a parallel story, it's like a short film in itself that had an accidental meeting with the central plot. Although, it has been brilliantly acted out by Raghubir Yadav, an actor who has of late been rediscovered by the Indian Film Industry.

Another subplot that was completely unnecessary was the one with Eketi, the man from Andaman, who accidently becomes the prime suspect of this murder. The show spends way too much time on his story, which ultimately had nothing to do with the main plot. Also, the detectives were investigating such a high profile case, but never bothered to check Ashok Rajput or bring him in for questioning, a man who had no reason to be inside Vicky Rai's farmhouse. The police arrested Eketi because his bag had a pistol, but never bothered to find out as to where that gun was purchased from, who it belonged to. All those details were ignored purely out of convenience.

As far as acting is concerned, every actor has done a fabulous job. Jatin Goswami as Vicky Rai is present predominantly in the first two episodes, but in that limited time his powerful performance ensures that he ends up on the hate list of every single viewer. Ashutosh Rana and Vineet Kumar have done so well that you wish that this entire show was about them. One of the key criticisms I have of the show is that characters disappear for long periods of time, I wish the creators had focused on a small set of characters and revolved the storyline around them, so that we could have them in every single episode.

There are multiple supporting characters in the show and all of them have done really well. Amey Wagh as the mysterious reporter is exceptional and while watching him you wish that he had a bigger role. Himanshi Choudhary's portrayal of Rita Sethi is not too different from the role she plays in Inside Edge, but she is always watchable in her sexy seductress act. Shashank Arora as Munna is probably the most important supporting character of the show and he has delivered a beautiful performance in every single scene of his. I did not enjoy the storyline of Eketi played by Mani PR, but one can't deny that the actor has done a wonderful job in the show. Munna and Eketi are probably the only characters one would root for while watching the show. There are some other supporting characters as well who either disappear after making an impact on the viewer or don't get enough scenes but do show a lot of promise. Paoli Dam, Rucha Inamdar and Parinita Seth belong to this category. Rucha Inamdar especially looked really good, but she was barely there in the show. While talking about supporting characters how can I not mention the rather bizarre storyline of Prithvi played by Deepraj Rana. This guy, Prithvi, was the right hand man of Jagannath Rai, but when he went missing without any message, nobody bothered to check on him ? Jagannath Rai just assumed that since he's not picking up the phone, he must have gone to his village ! I don't think that something like this can happen in real life. Even in a fiction story made for entertainment, it came across as extremely idiotic. Towards the end of the show, we get introduced to 'Ishwari' played by Sakshi Benipuri. Her screen presence was something else, she only has a handful of dialogues but her gorgeous looks ensure that you remember her long after you finish watching the show.

I was surprised by the time taken by the show to introduce our leading stars, Richa Chadha and Pratik Gandhi. I was quite disappointed by Richa Chadha's performance in the series 'Candy' but here she is in good form. Her dialogue delivery is on point and not for one moment does she allow her character to go out of hand. This is the kind of maturity I expect from an actor of her caliber and I hope she remains like this in her future projects as well. Pratik Gandhi is in top form as usual, there may be problems with the way his character was written, but his performance remains flawless as an actor. It's quite brave of him to pick up a role like this because he's not exactly a hero in the series.

The Great Indian Murder is not exactly a bad show, but it seems it has been made keeping in mind that it's a television show and not an eight hour film. There are plenty of loopholes in the show, pacing is too slow, editing is not the best in the world, the story wanders around in multiple directions, key characters don't come on screen for long periods of time and of course the murder mystery still remains unresolved. This show has been adapted from a novel called 'Six Suspects' written by Vikas Swarup, I just feel that the screenplay wasn't adapted very well. A web series should not feel like a novel. I hope they come up with a much better second season, one that has a proper structure and feels more cohesive than the first one.

Boring, lazy and amateurish. Writers literally forgot about some characters and subplots midway
tulsi-das-khan5 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When Prithvi is killed by Shabnam's sister, did Jagannath completely forget about him especially when he needed Prithvi the most? The writers completely forgot about Shabnam's and Debu Da's subplot. Why was Ashok not a suspect when the CBI officers knew he was present at the party? Who were the kids in the trunk? What happened to the body of the Nigerian officer found in the victim's room? There are many such loose ends throughout the series which the writers completely forgot. Shocking.

This is not an all out suspense series, it's more on the lines of Patal Lok. But please completely avoid this; besides all the plotholes and continuity the ending is too childish.

'Murder of a promising book'
Rish_tweets8 February 2022
The subplots running in each episodes are too shallow with Uncountable illogical situations .Dialogues & screenplay both are poor. Technical aspects are average. You hardly feel engaged Ashutosh rana is only saving grace. Rest cast is wasted.

Recent book adaptations : white tiger & now this one both are destroyed brutally. Books delve much deeper & are atmospheric.

Sadly series looks hollow.

Eketi (Mr. Mani) Rocks!
prsshetty9 February 2022
Binged watched until we finished or I should say waiting for the unfinished to be finished - Part 2. Each and every episode was filled with suspense and secret. My most favorite character was Eketi played by Mr. Mani. He was so natural and awesome! I wish to see him in part 2 and want to see more of him as an actor. You were too good, Eketi and where were you all this time!!

Gripping yet very slow in parts
Getnchauhan10 February 2022
It was engaging from the start. But lost its momentum abt 4th ep onwards till the 8th.

Too lengthy exploration of suspects and their mundane associations, i guess the director was trying to build their profiles but its such a drag.

Pratik Gandhi shd have had more screen time.

Richa Chadha i must say attempts to talk like a tough cop but ends up sounding like a nice lady next door, sorry but not a big fan of her acting.
