Okay, so I thought this would be a great film, since it was compared to Dazed and Confused, therefore I rented it. Dazed and Confused is considered a cult classic. This film? No way, awful, did not laugh once. Turned it off early, it was so bad! Terrible acting, the plot did not flow and I think this film was big waste of money to make. I have never left a review on this site, because most movies on here with such a high rating, usually lives up to its rating. This film did not. However, if you like stupid, idiotic, waste of time, humor, then you will enjoy this. I suppose my mentality cannot comprehend a level of stupidity on this kind of plane. If I could give this movie a quarter star, I would.

I really enjoyed the first feature length comedy by the writers at BeefandSage. The main story revolves around a forced culture change at high school, but touches on issues of gentrification and corrupt politicians, while also containing elements of coming-of-age comedy. From the soundtrack to laugh-out-loud moments, it's certainly well done for the budget. Brently Heilbron alone was worth the price of admission, but it was certainly a team effort with talented (and hilarious) short- film actor, Mike Wilson, the smoking-hot Melinda Cohen, and gifted director, Alan Deutsch. Can't wait to own a copy!

An in-your-face, maladjusted douche bag movie, which disappoints its audience, defiles Austin's film community and, undoubtedly, fleeced its investors.

The most pernicious aspect of this film, however, far beyond its cheap sets, sophomoric script and painfully, cringe-worthy bad acting, is that it's truly not funny. This smelly cannabis bomb went straight to download and never played in any theatre outside of an Austin arthouse.

Embarrassingly amateur, unfunny, juvenile, misogynistic, ageist, and mean-spirited; Austin Blight blows. Not even mass quantities of Austin craft beer or the most awesome weed (organic Blue Dream, 29% THC anyone?) can make this sleazy testament to hideousness worthwhile.

I saw an opening of this movie in Austin Texas. The first 15 min. take you into the story as it begins to get you ready for severe laughing (which I don't think any of us can complain about) and the movie has some great undertones of sarcasm mixed with top of the line funny line after funny scene..towards the middle I was able to catch my breathe but as the 4th quarter began I couldn't help myself from laughing hard! So hard that my boyfriend was saying "SHH SHH in between his laughing" I am looking forward to seeing this flick again with friends who couldn't see it when I did! Okay, so from the wardrobe selection to the scenes themselves and then of course the acting (and WOW, I hadn't heard of some of these folks but I am sure all of us will in the future). The movie went fast, I even had to go to the ladies room 1/2 way through and couldn't get up 'cause I didn't want to miss a beat and if you miss one line you will be sure to miss something FUNNY. A great comedy !

Great story line that will have you rolling' and asking' for more. Seen it five times and it just gets better each and every time! A must see for everyone! You can relate to the characters and the underlying message of being true to yourself. Austin shots throughout the movie are for sure going to make it a local classic! You find yourself relating to the movie in one way or another. The scenarios keep you in stitches.The side stories pull the movie together. You'll find yourself reminiscing back to your high school days and wondering about the what ifs? What could possibly happen next? How will it end? Which path will he choose? See the movie to experience a trip of all times.

Hilarious movie, true to Austin and all the "Keep Austin Weird" motto! Saw it at Austin Film Festival and laughed so hard I literally teared up. Acting was great and natural and you actually wondered if these folks knew each other well in real life. This is *not* like a "Dazed and Confused" wanna-be type movie and more in step with today's Austinite antics ;). The writing and dialog is naturally portrayed. I found the story plot-line quite eccentric (like Austin's characters aren't??). Also, the subject matter is hilariously politically incorrect (come'on, you know you laugh at non-pc comedy!), and will leave you laughing at every take. A lot of the humor is over the top, crazy and squirm-in-your-chair-uncomfortable-funny - but if you like Tosh.0 then this is right up your alley.

This is more than just a pro-pot movie. It delves into the issues that both define and divide our culture: gentrification, economic disparity, sexual repression, and our individual ability to affect change. All this, plus it features one of the coolest cities anywhere on Earth as a central character. Great performances by Melinda Cohen, Brently Heilbron, Adriene Mishler, Bill Wise, and Mike Wilson lead the way for a wonderful ensemble of gifted actors, and the cameo by Duane "Dog: The Bounty Hunter" Chapman is not to be missed. Kirk Johnson and Will Elliot offer up a hilarious script, and somehow hang a moral on it without weighing it down. This film really puts the "Tea" back in Texas! Grab a friend, catch a buzz and check it out!

Fabulous modern take on a Dazed and Confused type of local film. A must watch for any Austinite, new or old, stoner or anyone looking for a laugh. Well cast, acted and great local scenes throughout. Kept us laughing through our entire bucket of beers at the Alamo. It was fast paced, where many indie films get lost in useless plot, and the comedy hits everything from fart jokes to 'too much scrotum'. Also hits the Austin scene highlights; pedicabs, pot smoking and pretty girls.

Welcome to Ladybird High, nestled comfortably amongst the soul-searchers, aging hippies, and nouveau weirdos of famously freewheeling Austin, Texas. At Ladybird, it's always 4:20, even for Principal Samuel Wilson. But when the community is rocked by a citywide crackdown on marijuana use, local leaders are determined to make an example of Samuel, his staff and students. When asked to support their iron-fisted efforts, Samuel is beset with the task of cleaning up his beloved school without compromising his life philosophy.

I heard certain people had never even seen this, and yet rated it very poorly due to the title and/or "subject" matter. I think these type of people have invaded our country over the past 3 or so years, ever since Obama became President (it's a sore thing to have a minority in the White House to them, I suppose). However, if they can even remember the slightest bit of humanity they may have left in them, maybe they can start waking up a bit and seeing the light that's out there shining away. This is well written and worth more than a "no thank you". Come on, give it a try, you may actually find being open-minded to your liking! Austin High was well-made, well-written, and hilarious to watch. The casting was great. The choices in what and how to best represent Austin and Austin culture were solid, too. There wasn't anything non-feel-good about this movie and it makes for the perfect opportunity to watch something with a light heart that still accurately represents a relevant issue. Matters over marijuana are in the news exponentially more so these days and although Austin High's characters are intentional caricatures of potheads, the roles earnestly represent the laid-back nature of the subculture. I definitely recommend this movie! I watched it screened in Austin--there couldn't have been a better place.

It is the new Dazed and Confused. Sam is a very good writer and Michael Wilson steals the show. Whod a thunk it! Oh And Byran Brown, can he be any funnier? The town of Austin is just beautiful. JennyMarie Jamson is stunning as the handsome cab Driver. Who could not love this film. Alan did such a good job of directing. The Spider house was very cool. This is a historic Austin film. I went to see this film open minded, I knew it was a 420 type film, I went to it open minded and it reminded me of the early days of Austin. So many new friends were made after the film. Oh I forgot the play on Barton Springs was so Funny, I think they were making fun of how much it is protected. I will tell you this, do not miss this film!

If there's anything that is always prevalent in Austin, Texas, it's the stoner culture that permeates throughout the city's youth. Austin High captures the spirit of that culture in a film that asks "what would happen if a bunch of stoners grew up to run their own high school?".

The vibe of "Keeping Austin Weird" is also helped by cameos from the likes of "Dog the Bounty Hunter," who makes a surprise appearance in this indie film to wreck havoc on unsuspecting teens. Over the top and funny, "Austin High" is an indie comedy that captures the city's youth in a light-hearted and often unexpected, and over the top, way. If you're an Austin native or have visited the city, you'll find yourself chuckling along a time or two with this film.

Wow. This film blew me away. Maybe it was low expectations since I've seen more than enough films about the hippie utopia that is Austin, Texas, but I found myself laughing out loud MANY times while watching this goofy stoner comedy.

Clearly inspired by films like Hot Rod and Superbad as well as the classic stoner films of yore, this movie has the pace of Caddyshack and just as many laughs. So many indie movies are so dialogue heavy and move at a snails' pace, but the editors of this film (who I now see are also the writers??) really did a first rate job at hitting all the right beats.

Lots of hot hot women and some really unforgettable scenes... my favorite was when one of the kids got a little more smoke than he was looking for, but there were SO many.

The ending was a little contrived and not great which is the only reason it gets a 9 and not a 10!
