Good Episode

More character development and some action.

I'd say the only negative I can see is just a random "relationship" issue that is so so. Just let the nerdy guy be with the girl.

Great follow-up to a weak start

Warning: Spoilers
I was worried after the series premier, but this episode delivered on every level.

The whole episode was a joyride, it was great seeing Adam Rayner again.

The only negative thing about the entire episode was the reveal of Sarah's lesbian fling. They just couldn't avoid doing this cliche. Also Jordan's reaction seemed a bit unreal...

Just a bit trivia, the "monstreus creature" in the episode was played by former X-Men Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore, who also played the motel thug in the first season. Hope he will play Doomsday.

"Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than the pounding surf, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound."

Warning: Spoilers
Lois makes breakfast for the whole family. Well, this should be interesting. And yet, Clark experiences with something up his mind again, in short - visions. He discusses this with Lois describing what he saw. Meanwhile at school. The usual is happening where Jordan asks Sarah to go for Lunch. Jordan introduces Nat to his girlfriend where they discuss. Oh god, my health is beating fast. Lois comes to visit Chrissy discussing something about a podcast. Meanwhile, Superman arrives at a Military Base to come to visit TAL-RHO with a beard secured in a supermaximum security prison seeking answers.

I must say that I love the red lighting around the fell. The solar flare that Iron sent has taken away Tal-Rho's powers. Superman leaves as Tal-Rho questions to break him out and go to the fortress, but he knows better. Lois and Chrissy visit a mining site about Earthquakes asking for information. Lois thinks that they should visit a Seismologist to seek out more answers. Mayor Hart comes and visits the diner Lana that he has another job offer, and doesn't want to be Mayor anymore. Mayor Hart declares this to the citizens in the diner.

Sarah asks Jordan if he could help fix her dad's car, but Jordan isn't a car person. Lois visits Irons if he can help her out with this Earthquake stuff, but Iron has important tasks for her daughter but is convinced enough. Clark hears something very bad is going on. Arriving at an airport, he stops an armed man, but he isn't like any other criminal. Of course, Superman has trouble experiencing visions again as he gets beat up. Three people arrive to save the day stopping the threat. Superman wakes up in the medical bay discussing with Anderson. He receives more information that this guy wanted X-K, etc. Oh damn, the recruitments are barely 18? Not sure if you could call that child labor. John helps Lois set out special types of equipment. Jordan has been lifting some weights.

Clark arrives and tells Jordan to tell Lois that he's going to Tal-Rho's fortress with Tal-Rho. Jordan does have a point that he could get his powers since it's his fortress. Jordan convinces him to go along with him which works. They do arrive at the Fortress with Tal-Rho showing a projection of Kal-El's mother having a happy family reunion until Tal-Rho explains his motives for arguing. Jesus Christ, this guy's performance is wrecking it! Superman explains what has been going on with him. Kal-El's mother has a simple explanation telling Superman to come.

Meanwhile, at Kyle's garage, Sarah and Nat interact with each other as they successfully activate the car engine. Lois and Henry check up on the sensors resizing it's not an earthquake. Yep, I knew it. Tal-Rho lied about losing his powers. The patterns aren't seismic. A group of miners gets slaughtered by an unknown being. Jordan has a duel with Tal-Rho as Kal-El's mother tries her best to interfere. One of the miners detonate a massive bomb attempting to kill whatever was in that mine. Superman snaps out of it saving Jordan's life punching the shiz outta Tal-Rho screaming at him.

Tal-Rho is out back in his jail cell having a conversation. Lois comes and visits Chrissy that they're not Earthquakes. The two have a bit of an argument about the podcast claiming Lois' sources to be false. Kyle is thinking that her wife should be the Mayor convincing her. The truth is she did file paperwork. Jordan and Jonathan have a discussion, but Nat tells Jordan that Sarah is waiting for him outside. Sarah admits that she kissed a girl at camp. I do like how Jordan doesn't freak out here since that wouldn't make it any worse. Clark reveals that he has a problem with an Invasive cosmological event. Iron puts the pieces together that if Clark's visions are linked to the earthquakes and what his mom said is true, that means that someone is down there is what's causing this. Yet, another Doomsday hint.

Thoughts?

Even more character development here! Well, what did I say about Nat? "Stop prematurely judging on characters before they develop more, lol." and we did get more character from her. I will say it's a shock with Sarah's confession. First of all, I do support the LGBTQ+. But, I will admit I was thinking about "it" when she was talking with Nat, but I thought that the writers weren't going to that route, but I did enjoy the new friendship between the two.

The plot was not bad as it's setting more up for Season 2 and focusing on the characters, the pacing was a bit yikes, the dialogue was a bit boring. This is what I was legitimately worried for. Every other S&L episode had the same problem, but this suffered worse. I bloody love this show with all of my heart, but there's always that problem where: "I do think the problem with the shows is that they go on for so long." If this keeps going downhill in the much later episodes of this season then... well, damn.

But with the positive stuff. I do like John's struggle, and you can easily feel for him, but he is doing a good job not fully freaking out whenever he interacts with Lois. Tal-Rho's presence is stunningly brilliant and I was entertained by his fascinating character & harsh attitude. Excellent performances here, and some actions I was cheering for where Superman beat the crap out his half-Brother.

Lois & Chrissy have such a complicated dynamic managing to work their struggles out. Jordan's character is growing as he has more experience with his powers and cares more about his dad when he saw Tal-Rho beating him up which lead to him saving his life. I am interested in seeing more with Jordan & Sarah.

Alongside the negatives, this was still a good episode, but the lowest point of the show for me. I did seem to overexaggerate expressing my concerns, but my point does stand? Hey, almost nobody is perfect at writing reviews.

7-8/10.

This show! It surprises me with how much better it gets

With each episode. Every little aspect is clearly thought out by the writers like in this episode: Lois' dilemma with an old story she wrote to Clark's struggle with both his health and his family's legacy to Jordan's heroism and finally to John's struggle with both the life he has on Earth Prime and his past one on his earth. Then the twists on the villains eek! It all ties up in a neat bow to deliver one of the best hours on television.

I loved it, but
ahmedmohamed-2013519 January 2022
I don't know if I am the only one who felt that superman in this série is too weak?, I don't understand if they did this on purpose to just show the actual events of Superman's life instead of focusing on his power thing?, I hope they're doing this, as for me superman = power and destruction of the enemy with a blink, but in this série everyone can beat his a** easily!

I love destruction and anger, but I can't found this here!

A Classic Episode With a Good Story
sophiejensen-130632 June 2023
Also we see a hurt and wounded Tal-Rho who really is just there to help Clark. He has no interest in delusions about a reunion with his mom but he knows she can help Clark and that's why he invited his brother to his fortress. The pain and acceptance Tal displays is beautiful and eye opening for Clark. Not just that Tal is capable of it, but the rest of his story. I think Clark had assumed Tal would have at least met his mother before Lara ended her relationship with Zeta. After all, he only has human family relations and biological ability to go on. Turns out all children were genetically engineered except for him. Lara in Lana Cushing had told him about genetic matching, that's how unions were formed on Krypton and that once she fell in love with Jor'el, she gave birth to him. Turns out that was super unique, no pun intended. So learning that Lara never even knew? And exactly how alone and helpless Tal had felt under Zeta? It opened Clark's eyes a lot. The, I think next to last scene with Superman dropping Tal back off in his cell, was absolutely golden. Superman hears what is basically Zeta's attitude coming out of his brother mouth and considers maybe Tal never did have a choice. Sure Tal never had anyone like Johnathan and Martha Kent in his life. But he never had anyone like Jor'el in his life either. Zeta was not a very 'free-will forward' individual. And having him as a father would have wrecked a person. Having Zeta, in his own words 'mold him into proper greatness'. Without Zeta dictating his life anymore,. Tal Rho would choose the only family he has left, who he clearly Does care for. And there is at least the possibility that Clark would accept it.

The Ties That Bind

Oh Clark you should have realised that your half brother was lying.

Clark experiences some kind of visions that leaves him in distress. He goes to see Tal-Rho about it who wants to do some research on him in his fortress. This means Tal-Rho leaving his prison cell.

Meanwhile there are tremors happening where a new appointed group are doing excavations and reclaiming X-Kryptonite.

Lois Lane finds that an old story she did about a cult group has come back to haunt her.

There are a lot of dangling threads to keep all the characters busy and setting up a road map for the second season.

I am sure that there is a link between Lt Mitch Anderson and some of the things happening in Smallville.

Everything is nicely simmering including the soapy bits with the kids.

Very fast and unpleasant U-turn
alex_m-0562922 January 2022
The first season of this series was not perfect, but it was good and watchable. The two new episodes of the second season prove why very few people are left to watch the CW series. As well as why the media itself is for sale, but no one wants to buy it.
