- Humour tones down the horror, but has some sequences and jump scares.
- The Hatbox Ghost may be scary to some people.
- In terms of scariness this film has infrequent jump scares, when they do appear they are scary (the scariest is at the beginning) the music adds creepy vibes and the ghosts themselves do have scary designs Characters are chased and axes are thrown and the hatbox ghost is menacing.
- The scene Bruce has an evil spirit take over his body is very scary for younger viewers.

- Ben is shown drinking in an careless way. You learn later in the movie that his wife passed, which most likely started his heavy drinking.

- The Hatbox Ghost is a significant threat throughout the film.
