- In her efforts to help Naomi, Nikki believes that Silverlake was self-medicating with an untried depression cure though his widow denies it and a representative of the pill company, posing as a health inspector, tries to have Nikki taken off the case. After she is arrested for shop-lifting and feels perpetually tired, Nikki is referred to a psychiatrist who diagnoses depression. Naomi is highly supportive throughout but, at the hospital, the police make a frightening discovery which questions Naomi's motivation. Even after the real murderer is punished another death occurs, leading to closure for Nikki.—don @ minifie-1
- As requested by the late Dr. Silverlake's daughter Naomi, Nikki begins to look into what may have caused the erratic behavior that led not only to his own death but that of three hospital patients. The police continue to search for the nurse on duty the night the three patients died and find her hanging in a closet, an apparent suicide. Leo Dalton is able to prove however that the nurse was murdered and the scene made to look like a suicide. He also shows that she died after Dr. Silvelake, meaning a killer is still on the loose. Nikki's own unease at the cases she's been working on leads her to see a psychiatrist whose prescription proves to be the vital clue necessary to solve the case.—garykmcd
