How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb
Here is a short film about Operation Headstart, part of the Strategic Air Command's plan proposed system of keeping a nuclear bomber up in the air at all times, ready in case we needed to bomb the Russians or maybe the Eskimos in Greenland.
It was originally classified, but was declassified at some point, and so I got a chance to look at it. What I find particularly interesting is that the visuals, particularly of the cockpit, looks a lot like those seen in two films of the early 1960s: the serious FAIL SAFE, and the satirical DOCTOR STRANGELOVE. It make me wonder exactly when this was declassified and if the men who made those films got a look at this one.
