Curiosity Ends the Peace and Pieces the Ends
WeatherViolet22 October 2010
First, in the Country, one night, Curious George gets a call on his walkie talkie from that irritating screechy little Allie the Rankins granddaughter. So, the next day, Curious George goes for a visit, as Mrs. Renkins takes them to Ada and Luke's General Store, where they purchase costumes and backpacks with lion faces.

Now, she invites Curious George to participate in her Kindergarten class, which brings us to a couple of Goofs: if Allie is supposed to be visiting the Renkins for the summer, then why is she attending school, and why would school even be in session?

Well, the Country used to symbolize a place of peace and quiet to escape the hustle and bustle of the City, but no longer. A school-bus pulls up containing other loudmouth children and takes them to the schoolhouse, where Kindergarten Teacher tells Curious George not to play with toys because it's circle time, to discuss animal movements, but Curious George begins to wreck the room anyway, by splashing water, pulling down shelves of books and toys, knocking over the plastic tree, emptying the sandbox onto the floor, and uncorking the turtle tank, to drain water all over the floor.

Then Kindergarten Teacher instructs the children and Curious George to draw a castle which they would like to live in, but then she consults the custodian to clean up the mess, while Curious George and the Kindergarteners construct their castle by moving equipment around the school room.

So, this catastrophe really drags down the next, far better segment, which is coupled together to rate, but will that school-bus ever manage to return on time to transport those unruly, noisy brat children away with their "Guest Monkey?"

Next, in the City, Curious George attends dog school with Aunt Margaret, Betsy, Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel and the Man with the Yellow Hat, where Aunt Margaret reports that in her building, all dogs must have an obedience certificate (bringing us to another Goof because Aunt Margaret lives in a house, according to Episode #3.12: "Curious George: Relax/The Box and the Hound," in which Aunt Margaret asks Curious George to watch Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel at her house, and to await Delivery Man).

Now, Betsy has concert rehearsal this evening, and so Aunt Margaret and Betsy ask Curious George to substitute for Betsy, to supervise Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel with his Dog Obedience training, while the Man with the Yellow Hat leans against a tree to sketch.

Well, Dog Obedience Trainer gives instructions to dogs and their caregivers on how to obtain a diploma, which would be by climbing over a triangular step, over a seesaw, through a suspended tire, onto a table to stand quietly for five seconds, and over a hurdle, before reaching the finish line within 60 seconds.

And when the Doorman arrives with Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, Dog Obedience Trainer makes an example of Hundly, by announcing that Hundley has been his best student ever. Dog Obedience Trainer and Hundley then review the course for others to follow suit.

But when Curious George sets to run the course with Charkie, Dog Obedience Trainer announces that he must clear the field for an outdoor ballet class, so the Man with the Yellow Hat gives Curious George paper and pencil to draw the course to duplicate for Charkie's practice. Curious George then draws triangular steps, seesaw, tire, table and hurdle to construct a course on Apartment Building 7's rooftop

Then, as Curious George builds the dog obedience course, he pieces together odds and ends, while Charkie entertains pigeons, when Hundley arrives to investigate, and Curious George and Hundley tutor Charkie to run their dog obedience course and to keep still on the table stand, before The Man with the Yellow Hat awards them with them biscuits back at the apartment, and Curious George returns to the rooftop to use biscuits to train Charkie, before Betsy returns to delight in Charkie's progress.

So, on diploma day, as players compete upon the tennis courts right next to the Dog Obedience course, will Aunt Margaret, Betsy, Dog Obedience Trainer, The Doorman, Hundley the Doorman's Dachshund, Curious George and the Man with the Yellow Hat observe any progress in Charkie the black Cocker Spaniel's performance to attempt to complete the Dog Obedience course within 60 seconds, after "Charkie Goes to School?"
