Learn more- Tom briefs us, telling us we get to see all the performances again. Then Santana, Indie.Arie and Daughtry will perform.
First Audrina and Tony and Len saying she danced with confidence.
Backstage, Audraina says going first was scary, but she tried to stay calm.
Then Kurt Warner and Anna performed a Viennese Waltz. Bruno says Kurt has a natural stage craft and sees great potential.
Backstage, Kurt feels good, saying Anna had stressed trying to connect.
Then Kyle Masey and Lacey did their nerd-hot girl cha-cha and Carrie Ann announced she had a crush on him.
Rick Fox and Cheryl performed a Viennese Waltz and Len says Rick had great posture and danced with elegance.
Backstage, Rick and Cheryl joke about getting Carrie Ann a "Fox-C" shirt for their team name.
Then, Margaret Cho and Louis did their waltz with her giant dress wings and Bruno didn't like her goofing around.
Backstage, Margaret says she had to goof off because she's a comedian.
Then Brandy and Maksim waltzed and Carrie Ann told her to be a little smoother.
Backstage, Brandy promises to work her tail off to win. (She enjoys the way Maks says her name.)
Bristol Palin and Mark were next and Bruno actually uses the phrase "virgin territory" when giving feedback.
Later, Bristol resolves to loosen up more.
Florence Henderson and Corky cha-cha'd next and Bruno called her a spunky lady.
Backstage, Florence and Corky smooch and Mark, his son, declares it weird.
Michael Bolton and Chelsie are next (not dancing to his song). Carrie Ann knocks him for not leading or smiling enough.
Backstage, Michael says he was a "bundle of nerves" but he can depend on Chelsie.
"The Situation" and Karina cha-cha'd next. He gets slammed for his 80s moves.
Then Jennifer Grey and Derek waltzed to "These Arms of Mine" and made half the room cry, thinking of Patrick Swayze.
Carrie Ann is moved to tears, calling it "profound."
Backstage, Jennifer says the evening was a release and she let people see something about her she's never let people see before. They lead the night with 24.
David Hasselhoff and Kym were next. Len says he has to work on his technique and posture.
Backstage, Kym tells the Hoff she was proud of him. He says if they go out, they're going out in a blaze of glory and they're already wearing black for their funeral.
Then it's on to the live results show. (Tom points out his tie has changed, so you know it's live.)
Tom says "the identity of the star who's going to be eliminated surprised even our producers."
We see a little pre-show prep as the pros take the stage to dance to Santana, who trots out "Oye Como Va".
Then it's time for a recap of the standings.
10th is a three way tie at 15 points with Hoff & Kym, Margaret & Louis, and The Situation & Karina.
9th is Michael & Chelsie.
7th is a tie with Bristol & Mark ("I feel good, I feel strong. I feel confident from going out there and shaking my hips," Bristol says.) and Florence and Corky.
5th is a tie between Audrina & Tony and Kurt & Anna.
4th are Rick & Cheryl.
2nd is shared between Kyle & Lacey and Brandy & Maks.
Jennifer and Derek scored first place.
The four lowest scoring couples are on stage.
The first couple who is safe is: Michael & Chelsie. (He looks genuinely surprised.)
The second couple is: Margaret & Louis. (Upset alert!)
That leaves The Situation & Karina and The Hoff & Kym.
"We'll tell you your fate later, 'cause we have an hour to fill," Tom says.
And now it's time for a taped segment with Adam Corolla, for the "tour de dance." He tells us about the jive, which had many names, all of which were from Hasselhoff haircuts in the 80s. (Including the Texas swing and The Carolina Shag.)
He tells us about the Cuban rumba, which is described as "making love on the dancefloor." He takes that moment to apologize to everyone at the Goldfarb bar mitzvah.
For the samba in Brasil, which leads to some fun with ladies from the carnival (instead of carnival).
In London, we find the quickstep, a combination of the Charleston, the Fox Trot and "constantly being bombed by Germans."
Then it's time for Daughtry performing "September" from their new album. (Chris just can't get away from reality TV, can he?)
Brooke chats up the high scorers of the night. Brandy admits to being nervous. Kyle pleads for the votes. Jennifer promises to work day and night if she makes it. Rick says he's wearing more make-up than last night.
Tom gives Len props for his line of the night to The Hoff, "It's never too early to panic."
Len says it might be the best first week ever.
Time for more results.
Next safe is: Jennifer & Derek. Also Rick & Cheryl.
Kyle & Lacey and Brandy & Maks have to sweat it out.
Santana comes back to play "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with India Arie as Karina and Louis dance.
Backstage, Florence raves about her time on the show.
We some footage of the cast arriving on the first day and Hollywood air kissing. Audrina loved meeting Jennifer, who loved meeting Margaret, who thought Rick looked like he is made of "some sort of delicious toffee."
The Hoff and Kurt Warner talk football and Kurt humors him by throwing a gentle pass in the parking lot.
Kyle says he and The Situation are the "most random" cast members.
Florence asks Mike to see his "situation." He flashes her the abs.
Bristol was excited to meet Florence. Rick digs that Bristol drove a truck down from Alaska. It's news to the Situation that there are roads that do that.
More results.
Safe: Audrina & Tony and Florence & Corky.
Kurt & Anna and Bristol & Mark have to sweat it out.
The six on the block wait, but first a duet with Santana and Chris Daughtry.
Later, Chris gives a shout out to Michael Bolton for dancing to his song. Santana takes Kurt Warner.
Louis reflects on being cut in the first show of the first season. Kym, who got cut with Penn Jillette, says it hurts your pride. Maks says if he goes home first, he'll take full responsibility if he goes first. They describe the terror of waiting under the red lights.
Brooke talks to the six still on the chopping block. David says he felt bad for Kym because she tried her best to train him. He calls it "America's Got Talent" payback. Brandy quivers and says she feels like she's about to have a heart attack. The Hoff puts an arm around her and tells her not to worry, he's a life guard.
Tom teases that there might be a shocker in our future as the six in jeopardy take the stage with their partners.
The next couple returning is Brandy & Maks, also Bristol & Mark.
After a commercial break and even more recapping, we learn The Situation and Karina are returning.
That leaves the Hoff and Kyle. Tom turns briefly to the families in the audience.
The Hoff and Kym are out. He hugs her and says "baby, we tried."
Tom tells him this is the biggest first round surprise of all the seasons. And they end, naturally, by dancing.
