Adolf Hitler's political career is described misleadingly. His election campaign in 1932 is mentioned followed by the fact that he became chancellor the following year. This makes it sound as if he was running for chancellor, but, in fact, he was running for president, and he lost to the incumbent President Paul von Hindenburg. Hindenburg subsequently appointed Hitler chancellor. When Hindenburg died in office, Hitler seized power and declared himself president as well as chancellor. He then called for an election in which he was the only candidate on the ballot. Hitler never won a fair national election.
