Great movie, provocative and challenging
peter_mem9 May 2012
This is a movie that confronts and challenges us on different levels, including on what we expect when we enter a movie theater. Its a low budget film with a big impact.... and entertaining to boot! A few memorable moments stand out for me, after many months. The scenes in London's high fashion precinct, Times Square boutiques and the contrast with the slums in Africa. While I thought the statistics on expenditure versus GDP and the several bar and pie charts were good, certainly the presentation of them lacked some clarity and the few seconds that they flashed on the screen did not serve them justice. In many cases the sound track was low in volume and the lighting certainly not as higher a standard as a big-budget movie. But this being said, it was a film that certainly has a well deserved place on the "must-see" list. Well done!

An excellent documentary that made me evaluate my lifestyle!

More 4 Me is a brilliant documentary that looks at the importance people put on material possessions and things in their life they can't live without. Travelling the world to understand what different people and cultures find is their most important possession, Fenner, the writer/director, is sensitive to this and never judges the interviewed person but allows them to explain their position. I found The movie to be both confronting and eye opening to say the least. It's not a movie that you say afterwards, let's go get some coffee and cake but rather one where you want to sit quietly and internalize the message being made and decide if you need to make changes to your own life and/or help others in need. It is an important documentary that all (Westerners particularly) need to watch to keep our lives in perspective.

A Moving Documentary....

If your a documentary watcher you will love it! very well done! The startling contrasts between those who have and those who don't is starkly portrayed. I'm not middle class.i am considered "working poor" in America and i still have so much more than many Americans and far more than those in developing nations. it forced me to realize,bitter-sweetly,that my life is not that bad.when i pray and meditate i now no longer prey for me alone or those close to me or for what i want. but for those who are truly struggling and still go out everyday with a smile and hopefulness i will never know. powerful stuff. I would hope that others watch it and have as profound a realization as i did but so many think of it as "it's only happening to them".I have seen many docs similar to the info covered in this one few moved me the same way.

reality shock

Don't be fooled by this very catchy title as it also represents well the essence of this documentary. This movie was provocative, it was refreshing, intelligent and also had had couple of funny moments. The crew traveled around the world taking the audience in different environments showing the extremes of consumerism. This documentary is representative of most developed countries abundance of unnecessary products fueled by ease of credit. I absolutely loved it. We left the theater reflecting on our spending habits and what really matters in life.

It is a must see documentary and I strongly recommend it!

We bought the DVD!

A great documentary

This documentary is fantastic. It has been an inspiration to me. As a school teacher I have shown this to many students and all have been challenged about global wealth and poverty.

The documentary is launched from the question asked to people over the world - "What is it that you could not live without?"

The answers are honest and varied and windows into the priorities of the western world.

This is compared to the lives of others in the developing world and leaves the viewer challenged about their own priorities.

What I particularly love is the suggestions to make change.

I definitely recommend watching this film.
